you can get a copy of the 1560 Geneva Bible as well as the 1841 English Hexapla at greatsite dot com.

That is a perfect suggestion. The first hint when you sign up for replies to these questions is Biblical or Christ-like replies. In the New Testament times they used to sit around and converse and find out if what they were saying was in the bible. The bible tells you that.

thanks Eloy..any email address or website?
God bless
---jana on 8/24/06

Jana, I noticed that capstonebooks also has the 1841 English Hexapla, which I also have, and I also highly recommend obtaining this for any serious student desiring to study the New Testament scriptures, because it contains a copy of the most accurate version of the original Greek scriptures.
---Eloy on 5/29/06

Jana, I purchased mine online many years ago when I lived in California from capstonebooks dot com. It really is a treasure, also you will need to get a magnifying glass if you want to read the glosses which are written in the columns of the pages.
---Eloy on 5/28/06

Eloy, where can I get a copy of the 1560 Geneva bible...perhaps it will be a great opportunity to learn more of what the bible truly originally stated in the texts

I actually thought that this WAS the forum but with a different name. First we had Message Board which changed to Forum and now Blogs. Apart from the fact that there are far more of us now and questions which at one time were discouraged (especially those about sex) seem to be allowed in vast quantities I don't really know what the difference is supposed to be.
---M.P. on 4/6/06

yes i also miss the forum to and when it was stoped i e-mail the people that was over it and ask why it was stopped and it was because there was to much squabble ing over the scriptures we can be so carnal minded sometime

Re-read the story of the Tower of Babel. Ther'es NOTHING there to say that humans used "angels' speech"--only that everyone at the time spoke the same language.

But this is seen as a prophecy of Pentecost.

At Babel, the Holy Spirit descended and mixed up their languages, dividing the people there into different groups.

In Jerusalem, the Holy Spirit descended, and with many different languages called all to unity in Christ.
---Jack on 5/31/05

I wonder how God communicates with angels in speech. Can this be known as angelic language? The tower of babel caused that language to be lost. We need to find that original speech before the tower of babel to confirm the 'tongue'.
---Pek on 4/16/05

Rebecca it was quite some time ago that I was studing tongues so I don't have the scriptures now. When I moved a couple of months ago the notes got boxed up and I haven't gone through all of them. I think there was some referencing to something other than the launguage that people speak.
---darlene on 4/12/05

Darlene: Where about in the bible is confusing to you? Maybe we can help each other. I am seeking God to stir up this gift in me.
---Rebecca_D on 4/11/05

I personally would like to study the subject of tongues. I know at pentecost it was languages but there are many other places that I don't know what they are talking about.
---darlene on 4/8/05

I think many people who don't know where else to turn come here looking for help. Some of us have to work a lot of weekends and evenings and don't get the contact with other christians for edification and learning and to help. Of coarse we need to be careful and not turn it into arguments.
God bless you all.
---darlene on 4/8/05

Bruce, yes, thank you. In the least Christians should use the best English Bible, i favor the 1560 Geneva Bible. And the more serious student should use the Original Greek called the Constantinopolitan MSS, or else at least the Textus Receptus for the New Testament; and the Original Hebrew for the Old Testament called the Aleppo Codex.
---Eloy on 4/7/05

The danger with the Bible questions is that the discussions become just arguments over the varying interpretations of passages.

These secular questions that are being asked because someone needs help. Let's not forget that.

And better perhaps that they be answered by Christians rather than by the secular press, who give worldly, unGodly advice.

And don't forget that Christians have these worldly problems as well, and it is right that they seek advice from other Christians!!

I agree with Bruce5656 there are no foolish questions if someone has a need to know. I just do hope we get back to the Bible study type questions too. This site has been a lifeline to such discussions to me since I can't attend regular Bible Studies due to my physical condition. We can tell God what we would like this site to be for us,then to pray for God to make this site into what He wants it to be for everyone. God Bless.
---Darlene_1 on 4/7/05

I've just finished to read all of you, your comments here, remember the Bible says that we who are strong we should be patient to those who are weak. May be people who are writing foolish things here have just got saved & remember also the day you became a born again there were thousands of behaviors you wanted to give up but it took you years to give them up. We should be patient with these people,it's said that my people perish by lack of knowledge. It's already an advantage as they visit ChristianNet i'm sure they'll change, too!

Joseph and JeanB,

The word canon has many meanings but in this context it means; "a collection of books accepted as holy scripture especially the books of the Bible recognized by any Christian church as genuine and inspired"
---Bruce5656 on 4/6/05

PART ONE:

Rebecca D
While I miss the old Forums, I do not agree your comment that it is now a "worldly" thing and "foolishness". My understanding is that ChristiaNet is being promoted elsewhere, and now there is a much broader variety of people and people's life experiences being reflected in the questions. You and I may not be able to relate to their experience/problems, but that does not make them "foolishness". They are real problems to them and they have every right to ask them.

PART TWO:
Just perhaps, some may find some real help from those of us who are more "spiritual". I would not want to be so "spiritual" however that I would not have time to offer a biblical answer to someone facing these types of problems expressed here.
---Bruce5656 on 4/6/05

Arissa,
ChristiaNet used to have a different format called "Forums" instead of "Blogs". For the longest time, it seemed that just a few people were regulars with the occasional visitor. At that time the questions were largely of a biblical/theological nature with some personal type questions mixed in. Those of us who were regulars miss the bible study type questions and, speaking for my self at least, would welcome more of that type of question here.
---Bruce5656 on 4/6/05

While I agree with Bruce's comment that the Word of God is most important, those are not my comments below. I will go try to remember to use my ChristiaNet id BRUCE5656 to prevent confusion.
---Bruce5656 on 4/6/05

See whats happening here, I really believe that bruce is right on this one.

WHAT is a canon, is it in the real Bible, or is it in another bible such as the catholic bible, I heard they add books to theirs?
---JeanB on 4/6/05

What's a cannon? Or is that a catholic thing?
---Joseph on 4/6/05

Yes, it's an open forum. i use the real canon in my Biblical quotations.
---Eloy on 4/6/05

YES PLEASE! We have wandered off biblical conversations to a 'Dear Abby' column or slamming other faiths!

I think this has been tried before. Be careful here, because a good bible study should be in a controlled environment with at least one person (Pastor, teacher, etc.) who is very knowledgable in the Word of God. Misconceptions can be easly made.
The Word of God is most important!
---Bruce on 4/6/05

That is what it used to be. But now all I see is, Is this man/woman right for me, or where is all the men/women. It is turning out to be a worldy thing instead of a spiritual thing. I say stop with the fooliness and get on with the bible diccussions.
---Rebecca_D on 4/6/05

It used to be used that way but not much any more. Please do ask your questions.
