What you have been through these last few years is for the purpose of Strengthening you by HIS POWER in the inner man.

Why you want to give ups may be due to you tring to do in your flesh...The flesh is willing, but has no power to preform.

And count it all joy when people calll you names, criticize you and ridicule only proves you are saved and they are not. It's a manifest token FROM GOD that you are Christ's, partaking of the sufferings he too had to endure...Thess!
---kathr4453 on 4/2/11

How do you think our Lord Jesus felt when those around him would not listen or believe? "No servant is greater than his Master." You follow Christ. Do you think you should be shown respect greater than that which He received? So you are criticized and ridiculed! Take comfort in this. John 15:18 "If the world hates you, keep in mind that they hated me first." I would suggest that you first find those of like-mind, and then tackle those who dwell in the darkness. With more than one light in the room, it's hard for dark to hide anywhere. Above all, don't give up. That would be the same as giving up on that which the Lord has chosen for you to do, and essentially giving up on Him. Is that what you really want to do?
---CalicoHawk on 3/27/11

Never give up my dear. Remember that the joy of the Lord is your strength. Get your focus off what others think and focus on the one who holds your destiny in his hands. We were created to serve Christ. Praise Him, Serve Him and walk with Him.
ignore what others think. many times those who criticise want what you have but they are not willing to pay the price of dedication.

We all have been where you are now,Curt. Don't listen to the haters and naysayers. They see you are progressing in your walk with the Lord. The devil hates to see this. Pray and ask the Lord to help you in whatever it is, you want to do. Then keep your eyes on Christ and be led by the Spirit. Things will work out for you. But whatever you do, don't give up! God loves you very much. That is all that matters.
---Robyn on 3/14/11

curt, you are taking note of all these things too much...the devil is testing your faith..stay with the Lord and speak to Him as much as you can and His Holy Spirit will guide you...stick your head in your bible more...the more you stick it out of it, the more the devil loves it...keep studying and praying
---jana on 8/26/06

I have found that when things are just not working out it is because God wants me to be doing something else. Could it be someone else is in need of you or will be???? God knows....lisen.
---Alexandra on 3/17/06

Curt it has been brought to my attention by your other post on other blogs that you want to serve yourself first.

If you want to serve the Lord then you must serve Him in Spirit and Truth. Get yourself out of the way and humble yourself to the Mighty hand of God.
---Elder on 5/11/05

Join a group or a program/activity that needs many hands. Do not take the leadership position yet. Be at the support side to be able to learn the behavior, traits and characteristics of the people you are with. Being with people will make them feel that you are one of them. Normally, the one that receives the most criticism are the leaders. So start, by not being a leader but a helper. Little by little, gaining the confidence of the church, will make them see your worth. Do not give up, brother! There are still many works to do.
---linda6546 on 5/7/05

never give up. All those people you are around that tear you down, are wrong. Get away from them and find people who will help you and support you.
---Jay on 4/30/05

Well thank them for their thoughts - even critical and keep praising the Lord. Critism is hard for everyone to deal with. So you have lots of company. Tired, critical Christianity isn't quite as exciting as the vibrant, bubbly type. The critical spirit or grumbling doesn't really belong in Christianity. Encouragment and nurturing does. So perhaps the problem is theirs and not yours. Keep praising the Lord and praying.
---Barbara on 4/29/05

we all have people criticize us when we work for God we are of a peculiar people and alls we have to do is put the criticism behind us sure it hurts but even Jesus was Criticized but he set the ultimate example he perservered sure it would be easier to give up but it will be worse when we die nad we burn eternally do you want to give up everything Jesus did for you and everything God has for you by letting criticism get the best of you and make you Quit my friend Gods knows how much you can take and he will carry you when you get weak just seek him
---andre9789 on 4/27/05

Working FOR Jesus will bring frustration, But not rejecting, the grace of God working through you, will produce results. Let God do what He knows to do, and nothing else matters.
---Barb_of_Calgary on 4/25/05

It sounds like you have a super-sensitive spirit and rejection somewhere on board of which Satan has been able (in the past) to cause you to compromise. How wonderful to be hated by the Kingdom of darkness for our righteousness than by God for our sins! Satan may have brought a lot of hell into your life but when you stand at the judgment, how can you tell Jesus that His cause was not great enough to endure ridicule? You cannot control what they say only how you respond. We all are going through for the sake of the gospel.
---Annyebelle on 4/25/05

You can serve the Lord in any capacity. Don't be discouraged by others. They don't understand the Lord like we do. Just continue to work in the way the Lord has forseen for us. In the end that is all that matters. Fight satan and his demons and you will be victorious. Speak to your Pastor, and explain to him or her your frustration. They will help. Mine did, I was in your place a year ago.

Curt, you think you got it tough?try being JESUS two thousand years ago,of course satan will try to discourage you, that's what he does. But greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world. If your trying too hard to be perfect, try being yourself, when you mess up,the Lord will let you know through that still small voice, repent and move on.The christian life is a journey, not a jail cell.I pray that God will show you the power you really have.
---RUSSELL on 4/24/05

Hey There Curt...

I am going through this very problem right now. Remember that we wrestle not against flesh and blood. Satan knows exactly what heaven is like, he once lived there. Should Jesus bear the cross alone and all the world go free? It is not about us but it is all about God. Stand still and know that he is God, walk into your season and accept what God is about to do in your life.God loves you and he will never put more on you than you can bear.

Grin and bear it!

God loves you and we will make it don't give up.
---Natheria on 4/23/05

Curt ?I am not sure I really understand but consider this.... Sometimes we need to give IN to God calling us out from one place to a higher place and what we need to do is give IN not give up. I have been severley discouraged too. but not necessarily by what others said. Do not TRY to serve and do not TRY to re-new. The first part of the scripture about renew your strength is They that WAIT upon the Lord. Sometimes and I am not saying that is the case with you, just sometimes, we move ahead of God and "our" plans seem furstrated.I waited 30 years to be where God wanted me.
---becky on 4/22/05

Dear Curt,

Sometimes, the situation is not the problem but ourselves. Examine your heart and try to think why these people are criticizing you. Pray for those people and I'm sure God will intervene. Never give up.

curt, Are you discouraged because things are not going God's way or your way? There is a big difference. Never give up, but make sure you are in His will. If you are serving the Lord as you say, why would you complain about others critizing and ridiculing you.
---Mary on 4/20/05

Hey you, the intelligent Scandinavian with the brilliant smile! Remember satan hates us and throws as much as possible at us to keep us from being effective members of God's kingdom. I know from my own life, the garbage that gets thrown at us early on equips us to be of special service to others. You have unique gifts, talents and skills with which to minister to others coming behind you. Tell Jesus you how you feel and ask him for some relief. Then watch and listen for his answer. You may be getting it already, but as Romco says, "but wait, there's more!" ;)
---Julie on 4/20/05

Curt please realize that when you are attacked it is always by the enemy.

You are not his target for no good reason. You are a threat to the cause of Satan and will disrupt his plans so he sends attacks to discourage you.

Remember Paul saying, "Count it all joy when you suffer persecution."

Sometimes this forum is a rough place but I assure no one here has tried to ridicule you.
---Elder on 4/20/05

Dear Curt

So that we may pray for you, can you tell us a bit about your ministry and mission, and perhaps where it is?

Bless you

Shop For Church Chairs

Dear Curt

Don't be discouraged by our words of warning .. you do not want to do a huge amount of work on a worthy project that does not really work because there is too much competition out there. There is also the danger of doing it for too small a target customer base.

Why not take up the idea of sending a chunk by PenPal to say Elder or Bruce, who have vast theological knowledge, for their comments?

You could send also to me ... no theologian, but I could comment as a "customer" & a grammatician.

Keep your courage up.
---Alan_of_U.K. on 4/20/05

Dear Curt ... you my have thought some of the responses about virginity after marriage ridiculed you, and we must apologise for that.

I still cannot understand why yuo feel that is what you want, so I can be of little comfort to you.

But I cannot see any scriptural precedent for virginity after marriage, except that of Mary, as claimed by the Roman church ... and presumably Joseph also had to remin a virgin.

But I believe that after Jesus was born, the marriage was normal, with sexual union.

I do not then see the scriptural virtue behind your wish.
---Alan_of_U.K. on 4/20/05

I have learned to use a technique. Sometimes, I remember how satan would love nothing more for me to give up. That encourages me because I do not want to give satan a good laugh. When you stay in the games longer and longer...the enemy fights harder because you are demostrating faith that you will succeed...not lose.
---Michael on 4/20/05

Dear Curt ...

It is very brave of yuo to write in like this. Too often Christians refuse to acknowledge that they are feeling frustrated, maybe let down by God, & misunderstood by others.

There have been two discussions that you have started here, regarding virginity and paraphrasing, and I suspect yuo may have been discouraged by the responses.

I will comment briefly on each in separate replies

God bless

Curt.. One thing i know from personal experience. When you begin to do what God has called you to do, your ministry, the enemy gets a massive bull dozer and starts driving right through your life and work. His objective is to discourage you and get you to give up. If you have prayed about the work you are doing for God and know this is what HE wants you to do, just keep doing it. Rebuke the devil and he will flee. God Bless you..

Curt, God loves you more then you can ever imagine, even more then you yourself do. He knows about the others and exactly who they are, and he will deal with them. Remember Jesus' worst opposers were the religious people, the pharisees and sadducees, these so-called holy people cried, "Crucify him!" (that is 'Kill him!"), so ignore them. Just keep following the Lord and ask for his guidance in all that you do. He will bless you along the way, and i can vouch that he will remove and/or correct the evil ones out of your way, i promise.

The criticism of men is to be expected. I was taught a very long time ago not to base my self-worth on what others think but on what the Lord thinks. People will let me down. That is a fact.

If you give up, Satan wins. I refuse to give up, and I have been put through the wringer in the past five years. I may have down days, but they are temporary respites. My motto is "Never say die. Never surrender."
