A Prophet Said I Will Not Marry

A Prophet, told me one time in a service that I would walk alone, meaning that I would remain alone, no companion in life. I would like to marry again and only to a man, sold out to the Lord. Do I keep looking?

\I am a prophet of God. Yes, though my brethren are dwindling rapidly over time, there are still prophets like myself, scattered across the earth.\\

Of course, you're a prophet, and if we don't believe you, all we have to do is ask you, and you will tell us so, right?

Barbara, there are worse things than not being married. Most of them are being married to the wrong person.

Glory to Jesus Christ!
---Cluny on 5/30/15

Many claim to be prophets who are not. So keep praying and looking. GOD be with you.

---Samuelbb7 on 5/29/15

Oh my, this is quite old.

I am a prophet of God. Yes, though my brethren are dwindling rapidly over time, there are still prophets like myself, scattered across the earth. I am an elder prophet, a teacher among my brethren.
I do not think it is advisable for people who are not prophets to speak on our behalf, because their understanding of us is severely limited.
---God_Is on 5/28/15

You keep praying. If you are not a believer I pray that Jesus Christ will save you, my friend. Never listen to anyone except God on such matters. Prophets what few there are, are into mostly warnings, God's messages as He gives them. Not fortune telling. a warning for you.
---catherine on 3/20/08

How do you know this person is a prophet? Has everything he/she prophesied come to pass? The bible tells us that we can know if someone is a true or false prophet by seeing if what they said came to pass. You have direct access to God so pray for His guidance in this. There are many false prophets about.
---F.F. on 3/20/08

Reiter: Be careful before poo-pooing on God's servants. You would do better to just say: there are few prophets around today. You can prophesy. I can prophesy. If your life is lined up with the word of God. God will show you things in the spirit realm but you can't be living like the devil and expect to hear from God. I would keep looking around. If the prophet's words were true, you will never marry. Even if you find someone. That's how you are to know if the prophet was true or false.
---Robyn on 7/6/07

Be carefull about those who profess to be prophets because the Lord state that many will profess to be prophets in the last days. Let God reveal to you or confirm what the prophet is saying. The Lord also states that in the last days many will forbid to marry. If God's purpose for your life is for you to be single he will confirm it to you. God wants us to learn to put trust in him and no-one else.
---Marcia on 7/6/07

i would question the Prophets track record. Sometimes we become self-fulfilled prophecies by seeking the means to justify the end that was prophesied. i see no harm in looking for marriage.
---Eloy on 7/6/07

Let the Blessing be with you.

---Reiter on 11/13/06

Rachel, I've been waiting to hear someone say what you just said. God bless you.
---Okebaram on 11/12/06

Tony, go ahead and name ONE true prophet according to your standards. You show me a perfect prophet, and I'll show you G-d. There is not one.

---Reiter on 11/12/06

Kay, that was a good one you put down about the Hispanic's. I myself am hispanic and when you mentioned that, I started laughing. Let me ask you something, was the person cursing you angry because you didn't agree with him? You mean he got to that point? I wonder sometimes when people on line get angry too what they are capable of doing. I am some times shock by their answers. You know, discussing Scripture is awesome, a great joy. I love bible studies cause I always have a lot of questions.
---lisa on 11/11/06

For Ryan's reply on 11/09/06. Please cite what scripture you want to debate regarding my answer. A blanket denial is worthless and without merit. Scripture interprets scripture. Please post your scripture and arguments.

"Can you give an example of thgis sort of thing from the Biblical phophets?"

Alan and Kathr, surely you have read the bible!?

What about Isaiah telling Hezekiah he will die? And who said the prophecy was a prediction of personal fate? What if it had to do with a ministerial call? We don't know. God doesn't do stuff without reason. I am not saying that God makes predictions of fortune. I am saying that we don't know if this was God's will for a specific reason?
---Okebaram on 11/11/06

I've had a self proclaimed prophet try to convince me that a man who I had dated for over a year abused me and my daughter. It didn't matter how many times I corrected this "prophet", he refused to believe me. When I disagreed with his "prophecy", he put a curse on me and accused me of blaspheming the Holy Spirit.
---Kay on 11/10/06

Its one thing to predict ones future, but to predict their past? The guy I dated is a hispanic and I found out later that this so called prophet has a personal problem with hispanics. He automatically assumed that since the guy was hispanic he was also a criminal. My mother actually reversed the curse that the man placed on me and 4 days later he was involved in a serious car accident. His ribs were broken,he hurt his neck, and he had a serious head injury. A car load of HISPANIC boys hit him. Coincidence?
---Kay on 11/10/06

Darlene: You are absolutley right, only if that lowly person reveals God's Word to the general public or group of people. A person is not a prophet if that person keeps God's word to himself or runs in the opposite direction from where God asked him to go just like Jonah.
---Steveng on 11/10/06

a prophet must be accurate 100 percent of the time to be a prophet. and he\she can't tell people to worship other gods. that is how you will know it is from God. maybe it's ture and maybe it isn't. i think you should go to vagus and marry just to prove the prophet wrong. just kiding. i wouldn't look for a spouse even if the prophet said you will be married in a year. just be content with your life right now. do what you love to do and if you make a friend and want more then marry him. simple
---Tony on 11/10/06

Okebaram, All Prophecy and Prophesy is about Jesus, not about us. If you believe we have a personal relationship with the Lord, then those things are personal. We don't have mediums between us and the Lord. No such incidences are in scripture. That is where we look to for things like this. Find in the NT any time anyone said something like that over someone else. I don't think you will find it.

Read the word and see if all prophecies are not God related. Rebuke false teaching and see if this person will not be offended by your responce because it is FALSE. Non scriptual, Non meaning, Nothing to do with Gods will, and damning without a cause. God is specific, time date and comes to pass. Keep praying that your payers are not hindered by this curse and rebuke it in Jesus's name and do not allow anyone to speak negative words over your life again. Be careful of FALSE PROPHETS!
---Carla5754 on 11/10/06

Oke ... the prophecy given to Barbara is just like fortune-telling.
Can you give an example of thgis sort of thing from the Biblical phophets?
---AlanUK_quent5969 on 11/10/06

*Remember, some prophets mix in with psychics. i.e. Daniel

All of Daniel's psychic contemporaries were good at divination, but Daniel nailed it best. A king deserves the best.

---Reiter on 11/10/06

So many people say the prophecy is false! fortune-telling!...bla bla bla. I wonder on what basis they are that sure? Is it then a wonder that Jesus' sayings were so quickly concluded as blasphemy by many hearers? You judge by your traditions and wisdom rather than by the word of God. You cannot say whether or not this prophecy was false unless the Holy Spirit reveals such to you, because none of the disclaimers you have given are valid. Can I get an "amen"?

Steveng I must remind you that God is no respecter of persons, therefore, He will give a Word to the lowliest person in the church just as quick as He will give a Word to a leader of a large group. All Words from God whether to a group or one person are given for the good of the Kingdom of God. The Gifts of the Spirit are to promote the Kingdom and help the people live a holier life or be encouraged. They are never to be used for fortune telling. Prophesying doesn't a Prophet make.
---Darlene_1 on 11/9/06

Alan is right, prophets do not prophesize on a personal level, they prophesize to the people in general. That prophet who spoke those words to you should be tarred and feathered. The only time a prophet prophesizes to an individual is when that individual is a leader of a large groupe of people.

Go. Find yourself a husband and be happy in the Lord together.
---Steveng on 11/9/06

Barbara, keep looking, If the prophet's prophecy was real, you won't succeed in your search but you'll find out why the Lord doesn't want you to marry, and you won't offend God because you were looking since he hasn't yet shown you why he wants you to remain single. If the prophecy was false, which it may be but not necessarily, then you'll find a spouse, hopefully.
---Okebaram on 11/9/06

Robert, "There are no "new" prophets sent from Father."

You are so's too bad you don't have a name to give yourself a little blog fame. Love in Times Square...yes...and in Union Square...and Everywhere. If we lose all our Virtue and keep only one Element...then let it be LOVE.

---Reiter on 11/9/06

From what I understand, these people think they have the Gift of the word of Knowledge. I don't believe this is what the Gift was about. The only knowledge I know is the Knowledge of Jesus. For wisdon and knowledge are in Jesus. To be very frank, I think anyone who thinks they can go around and say, the Lord told me this or that about you, ...well lets just consider the kinda people who work for Deanne Warwick 1-900 psychic hot line. Any similarities?
---kathr4453 on 11/9/06

I don;t recall any Biblical prophet who acted as a personal fortune-teller.
---AlanUK_quent5969 on 11/9/06

Listen up Barbara. There are no "new" prophets sent from Father. WHY ARE YOU LISTENING TO A FALSE PROPHET? If you love our Father, then He is now your husband. Seek out your husband in Fathers' Word. Here He will speak to you and settle in your heart His will for you. Jeremiah 17:5 tells us we are "cursed" if we put our trust in man. Verse 7 tells us we are "blessed" if we put our trust in the LORD. Barbara who are you going to trust?

Barbara, I believe if we have a personal relationship with the Lord, those kind of things the Lord can tell us Himself. If It comes from someone else, that would make that person an intermediate between you and the Lord. I don't think there is such a thing. Just my opinion.
---kathr4453 on 11/9/06

Trust your instinct [intuition] over any prophet. The prophecy does not control you; it is only a Lamp.

---Reiter on 11/9/06

language can have double meanings. Did U ask will I marry? Maybe they meant walk alone-like someone who is strong no matter what. Remember a prophet is still human and many are just plain wrong, a whole other subject I wont go into. Talk to God as your Abba, Daddy and tell Him how U feel, he is touched by us. If U are to marry U will and if not he will take that desire away in time. But mean while rejoice, stay busy for God, have fun come and go as U please because that changes once married. So smile!

When a prophet speaks, you have a CHOICE. You can receive what he says as Truth. You can reject what he says as a Lie. You can follow the prediction like a road map for life. You can contradict the prediction and do the exact opposite, rendering the prediction false. Use your common sense. If you Want to marry, then marry. If you don't want to marry, then don't marry.
A prophecy does not control your future. You have freedom of Choice.

---Reiter on 11/7/06

I put no trust in such prophets. One who was touted as such, Ralph Short, said that Jesus couldn't do any miracles after His resurrection, because He didn't have a physical body, and the Holy Spirit needs a physical body to manifest through.

Now, what's wrong with his statement, class?
---Jack on 5/30/05

A very religious woman wanted very much her 3 year old daughter to meet and know the man in their church whom they called and revered as a Prophet. The woman told her child as she pointed her finger to the man she called a Prophet, " Look... the Prophet..." which the child immitate and said, " Puppet..." LOL
---abba7475 on 5/7/05

To whom does this prophet owe allegiance. If you are referring to people like Paul cain and those of that ilk - I'd have to call them false prophets by old testament standards and therefore ignore and preferably stay away from that stuff altogether. There's a lot of junk going on the body of christ that is unscriptural and does not stand up to Gods word (I use to be involved in it). On the issue of re-marriage - though specifically after divorcing David Pawson has an excellent tape- but his view leaves u with no room for re-marriage after divorce but is a scripturally very convinving argument.

Well, then, the prophet was already wrong seeing as you have already been married. Remain single if you want to please the Lord. Or be reconciled to your husband UNLESS you are a widow. In that case, my condolences.
---miguel on 5/2/05

I am blessed to operate in the prophetic. "Prophets" today are not the same as they were in the OT. New Testament prophesy is to edify and exhort. Sometimes I get a sense that God is going to do a thing in someones life - but, I am always clear when sharing that it is just that, a sense. ICor. 13:9 states, "For we know in part, and we prophesy in part." Was this prophet humble? - or full of him/herself? That should be another indicator of how seriously their word should be taken. daphn8897
---Daphne on 5/2/05

In the times that we live, it is unfortunate that there are more false prophets then real. I am not saying the prophet who told you that was a false one, but you need to check into your spirit about what you are feeling.

As far as looking, no you wait. He will find you. The desire for a mate comes from the Lord. If God wanted you single, you would have no desire for a mate. Just remember all prayers are answered by God, they are either, Yes, No or Wait.

Yes!The Lord says in Ps.34 that He gives the desire of our heart if we delight ourselves to Him.He is only a prophet and not God.You must listen to what the Lord says and not to what other people says. He's just a human just like you and me.All Things Are Possible with God!

Pray but also keep your big eyes and ears open and if the right man passes your way, get to know him and take it from there.

True prophets are oracle of God.It does not mean that You and the prophet cannot pray about it and receive a change. God can turn around situations.even when he is angry and has said he would punish one, he is still a merciful God.Go to him and pray, confess ur sins. you shall have ur heart desires

i'm not saying this guy was a prophet, but maybe he saw something in you that made him think you wouldn't ever marry. also, prophets are people who speak what God wants said, they don't predict.
---curt on 4/21/05

Who accredited him as a prophet?
It sounds to me more as if he was a fortune teller, or just a preacher trying the worldly trick of trying to impress people with his "prophesies"

Look for other confirmation from God regarding His will for you.

Why not ask ordinary people .. the friends who know what you are doing and what you can do. God can talk to you through them, justas much as a self ptoclaimed prophet.

If a "prophet" told you that, you should expect the Holy Spirit to bear witness of it in your heart. Has He? There are many so called prophets that are not a prophet at all, operating in the flesh after a fad that had/has swept through many chruch circles.

The only way I would pay any attention to something a "prophet" said to me is if it corresponded to what God had been convicting/instructing/warning/etc about already and it served as a confirmation. Otherwise, my attitude would be "Yeah, Ok then, we'll see."
---Bruce5656 on 4/21/05

Absolutely. Don't trust in what man says- trust in what God says. Seek His direction and guidance. Ask Him what He wants for your life. He will let you know in no uncertain terms if He wants you to remain single or not. God bless.
