Elder, I learned about checking the ingredients on labels when I was in my 20s. And I am glad I did. I know that I have spared myself a life of unhealthy grief of diseases related to eating unhealthy crap. Too many Americans have high cholesterol from eating high fat, and high blood pressure and heart disease from eating high sodium, and diabetes and obesity from eating High Frustose Corn Syrup and too much sugar: and we can only venture as to what all those chemicals are doing to the human body which was not created to digest that stuff. I truly think that the government, the Food and Drug Adminstration, should regulate some of this toxicity, and say, No one food product can contain more than 100 mg. sodium, Cannot contain any HFCS, etc.

nvB Yes you would call them cookies.

Porrage oats are rolled oats ... they are still in flaky form. Do you make flapjack? or make porage? You would use proage oats for those

Oat bran is powdered over here.
---Alan_of_U.K. on 5/3/05

Alan, is 'porridge oats' the same as Oatmeal?
In the UK your biscuits are what we would call 'cookies'. Here, biscuits are not sweet and are tall and fluffy and usually we cut them and put butter in them. Your 'biscuits' sound yummy! Have you ever made them with raisons in them?
---NV_Barbara on 5/3/05

I do not think the webmaster will let us have any longer for more words.

In fact he wants us to put them on here, so I guess we will just have to do that

It is difficult to get a full recipe on in such a small space so let's hope that we can have more words. Or we will end up with two or even three boxes or writing the recipe from end to beginning so the ingredients are on the top.!!!!

Praise the Lord for recipe fans and great cooks.

Yes we need recipes! I knew a young woman who tried to boil eggs. The water boiled all out, the eggs turned black, and then they exploded. Yes we need good cooks too.
