How Long Is Eternity And Millenium

When Jesus returns, I understand that he is going to establish his kingdom. Regarding its duration, I am confused between it lasting a 1000 years (millenium) and an eternity. Also, is it going to be on earth or heaven?

Celeste:
Part 2 At the end of the 1000 yrs. Jesus returns to earth with all the righteous and the New Jerusalem.(Rev.21:2) Satan is let loose, long enough to see the DL be brought to life, join the LA to exp. the execution of their sentence: ETERNAL DESTRUCTON BY FIRE.(Rev; 20,3-13), which comes DOWN FROM HEAVEN (v.3,10,14). Next, God creates a new earth/heaven for us, to last eternally.(Rev 21:3) See you there!

Celeste:
Let me suggest that there two parts to the duration of the kingdom. Part 1 the Millenium Part 2 the rest of eternity.
P1: (1Thess,4:16-17) reveals that when Jesus returns, there will 4 cl. of people on/in earth: saved alive + dead and lost alive + dead. The SD will be raised to life and be lifted up with the SA to meet Jesus IN THE AIR. The LA will be destroyed (1Thess,2:8)by God's brightness. The LD will remain in the earth. The earth will be desolate for a 1000 yrs. (To be cont.)

I can't give you the web site, but I wrote a book on this suject. If you would type in "Judgment Day: Appointment With Destiny" you should go to the site and can order the book, or read it on the web site. I think it will answer all your questions.

The thousand year rein on Earth (Millenium) will conclude with the total devastation of the surface of the planet. It will be purged by fire, earthquakes, and total collapse of land masses into the ocean. The ocean will boil away and become a mist upon the Earth. The new Earth will be like Eden was in the beginning and will last forever! Those of us that make it will exist in this paradise throughout all eternity!
---Wendell on 5/19/05

Linda Smith:
cont. Paul talks of "visions" and "revelations" HE WONDERS about how he was able to see paradise. He concludes that he does not understand how it happened. ONLY GOD KNOWS!But we can be certain that God would not give a vision of a place if he called that person up to see the place!
COMMENT: The above is also valid for John's experience: no real heavenly journey! BEING IN THE SPIRIT: is a ref.to the "gift of prophecy" also known as "testimony of Jesus" s
Amos 3,7/Eph. 4:8-15 and Acts 2:17-18.

Linda Smith:
Thanks again for your comments on 2 Cor;12:1-10
In this passage Paul is describing his own experience of being given revelations through visions. He was afraid that those who would hear him would tag him a braggard and so he
ascribed the experience to a man he knew= Paul. His soul never ceased to exist and his body never left the earth. For that to happen he would have had to die and be resurrected but that did not happen either. To be cont.

2 Cor. 12:1-10

Rev.4:1,2 When John "came UP here", he got a vision of the risen and seated Lord. Same context as Paul spoke of when he spoke of a man "caught up" and hearing words that is not lawful for man to utter.

Thanks for appreciating my answers to Linda +Co. We seem to think alike that I think you may be a brother in Christ of mine. Could it be? (Clue Word97)
Robin from MI. the way you answer I think of you as a sister in Christ. Could it be? (Dan.+Rev.Seminar).
e-Mail me if above is true. Pierr7958

Linda Smith: It does say:AIR
not Sky. It is still up in the air not on earth.
Please, give me quote where PAUL is called , ends up IN THE SPIRIT and 3rd heaven. What is your point?
You talk about the walk of the high priest...but you lost me there. The "footstool"quote that you brought up said nothing about him not having need of us.He wants to rest in your heart. You write that he came down and dwelt in the earthly tabernacle, which is a people. They are not the same. As for standing on the earth, what's the CONTEXT of this text and please give me Ch.and v. for it. Thanks.

ruben:
1st. The devil will not be able to deceive any more people just as soon as Jesus returns. 2nd. Many things we know not because Jesus spoke them in person but because he inspired others to tell us both in the OT and NT.
---Pierr7958 on 5/7/05

Most of the confusion on this issue arises from the attempt to reconcile the truths of the Bible with the erroneous, man-made theories of the "Secret Rapture" and the "natural immortality of the soul." Note that the 1000 years has resurrections on each end (Rev. 20:4-6), but "immortal souls" don't need resurrecting. The Sadducees also did not believe in the resurrection.
---Jerry on 5/7/05

Celeste: After reading all these opinions, I'm sure your're more confused now than before you posted your question. In my understanding, only Pierre's explanation makes logical sense. Jesus promised to take us with him to a mansion in His Father's house when he returns, and then we reign with Him 1000 years (in heaven). There was a resurrection before the 1000 years (at His coming), and there will be a resurrection (of the lost) at His third coming at the end of the 1000 years. That is the last mention of time - eternity then begins.
---Jerry on 5/7/05

There will be a NEW earth. Read Revelation 21.
---F.F. on 5/7/05

Hi-Why would Jesus reign for 1000 years, tie Satan and then release him to deceive us again. What is the purpose for this? Why did jesus not mention these while walking on the Earth about the thousands years reign and why did the new testament writers ever talk about it? It would seems to be very important! You get a verse in the book of revelations and run away with it is amazing to see.
---ruben on 5/7/05

That "third heaven" is the true of the shadow called "the Most Holy Place" in the tabernacle. It is the realm where it is all God. It is the realm of the Spirit. Up is not a direction. It is a dimension.
---Linda_Smith on 5/7/05

"The B.says that we will meet him IN THE SKY!"

Pierre, it doesn't say "sky". It says "air". Air and sky are not the same thing. You breathe air. You don't breathe sky. Air is the breath or spirit. In the book of Revelation, the Spirit told John, "Come UP here" and immediately John was IN THE SPIRIT. Paul was "caught up" into the third heaven where he heard words that was not lawful for man to utter. God could utter them though because it was God Paul heard.

The whole walk of the high priest in Moses' Tabernacle was walked out on a floor of earth. Can the Head (that would be the Lord Jesus Christ) say to the feet (that would be the part of His body on the footstool, which is the earth), I have no need of you? His feet stand in judgment and judgment (in Daniel) was given to the SAINTS. They were wore out until judgment was given them.
---Linda_Smith on 5/7/05

Pierre, God never changes His pattern. Every time an earthly representation of the heavenly tabernacle was finished in the earth, God came and dwelt therein. That would be Him standing on the earth. Behold, the tabernacle of God, which is a people, is with men. Those would be His feet on the earth. Job said, "I know that my Redeemer lives and on the last day, He shall stand on the earth."
---Linda_Smith on 5/7/05

Eloia:
You write about tribulations lasting 2 periods of 3.5 years each...Christ will stand on earth...
Where can I find that in the Bible?
Daniel:
Please quote and give me the reference where it speaks of a 1000 yrs. Messianic kingdom being established by Jesus on earth...set as the Sabbath. Thanks.

Linda Smith
First about CONTEXT. You used what looked like the perfect text for you but your comment is out of context. TEXT: is not talking about the return of Jesus.
CONTEXT: Summary of Isa's prophecy.
COMMENT: Isa reminds people that God is not looking for a temple of stone but rather He is looking for a heart to dwell in, of a person who takes his word seriously!
PARAPHRASE; I already own the heaven and the earth but where will I rest? In the heart of the person who is tender and broken.

Thank you for your note.
Now for your comment: ON THAT DAY his feet...
I respectfully suggest that this is a reference to the DAY when the wicked, led by Satan attempt to take the city. It is also then that fire will utterly destroy=ashes the wicked.(not at his coming) If you wish, read the post I sent to Bruce about Jesus notsetting his feet on earth at his coming.
---PIERR7958 on 5/6/05

Next on God's prophetic calendar is the catching away of the born again, both those who have already died, plus those living at the time. Immediately follows the tribulation which is two segments of 3.5 years each. Then THE SECOND COMING...Christ WILL come to stand on the earth and the following event of judgement. There will be a new Heaven AND a new earth and we will rule and reign for 1000 years WITH CHRIST. Then Satan is cast into the lake of fire. We will tavere the heavens...galaxies and beyond. All belong to OUR GOD. REJOICE....The BEST IS YET TO COME FOR THOSE WHO LOVE THE LORD.

cont..look in Zechariah 14:3 & 4-"Then the Lord will go out and fight against those nations, as he fights in the day of battle. ON THAT DAY, his feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem, and the Mount of Olives will be split in two.." and it goes on. His return is in 2 parts- at the Rapture, we will meet him in the air- he does not return to earth then, but after 7 years, when he returns in power & glory, he does.

Well, my Bible very clearly states, in Rev. 19, that when He returns, the beast & false prophet will be thrown into the lake of fire, Satan will be bound for 1000 years, and that is the time of the millenial reign- here on earth. Then Satan will be loosed, in Rev.20, to try one more time to defeat God's people, but he and his army are destroyed, and he is thrown into the lake of fire with his 2 cohorts. We are not in the 1000 years yet. Christ has not returned physically yet.
---Ann5758 on 5/6/05

Jesus' paradise kingdom is always eternal. When Jesus returns only the born-again are resurrected for the millenium, which was set as the sabbath, 1000 years of Peace, Satan is bound and we get to rule with Jesus. After the 1000 years, Satan is loosed for 3 1/2 years to continue his deceivings, then comes the 2nd resurrection and final eternal judgment of Satan, the unsaved, and the whole world is burnt up. Then comes the new heavens and the new earth wherein dwells only righteousness. Revelation 20;21.
---Eloy on 5/6/05

Millennium(pt.2): satan's army will be destroyed; he will finally be cast into the lake of fire (Matthew 25:41; Revelation 20:10) which is eternal separation from God. Christ, the Judge (John 5:22), resurrects all unsaved dead to judgment at the Great White Throne and they also are committed to eternal conscious punishment (Revelation 20:11-15). I know it's called 'fire', but I believe all of them will be alone in darkness besides having burning pain. See "Eternity" for next events.
---Daniel on 5/6/05

Millennium(pt.1): After the Tribulation, the overthrow of Antichrist and binding of satan (Daniel 7:17-27; Revelation 20:1-7), Christ will establish a 1000 year Messianic Kingdom on earth (Matthew 25:31; Luke 1:31-33; Acts 1:10-11; 2:29-30; Revelation 20:1-7); resurrected saints will reign with Him over Israel and all nations (Ezekiel 37:21-28; Daniel 7:17-22; Revelation 19:11-16) which will end when God releases satan one last time; I believe to show that even those who knew so much about God could still be deceived by the devil.

Eternity: This earth will be dissolved (2 Peter 3:10) and replaced with a new earth; where only righteousness dwells (Ephesians 5:5; Revelation 20:15; 21:1-27; 22:1-21). The heavenly city will be established there (Revelation 21:2) and the saints will dwell there enjoying forever fellowship with God and one another (John 17:3; Revelation 21-22). I also believe that God will allow us to explore all the wonders of His Universe to praise Him for creating it.

Isaish 66:1

"THUS SAITH THE LORD, The heaven is My throne, and the EARTH is MY footstool: where is the house that you build unto Me? and where is the place of My rest?"

The LORD GOD ALMIGHTY says that the earth is His footstool. What is a footstool? A place where you rest your feet. Then He asks, "Where is the house you build unto Me" and "Where is the place of My rest"? If you can answer those two questions, you will have the answer to how His feet rest on the earth, which is His footstool.

Eternity is forever. Millenium is 1000 years.

I have to disagree: In John 14;1-3 Jesus states that he is preparing a place for us and that when he comes back He will take us to HIS PLACE where we will receive our new city/country homes in heaven! When Jesus returns HE DOES NOT SET HIS FEET ON THE EARTH? Very soon FOX TV will announce that Jesus has come to the Middle Eastern desert and MANY will be disapointed. Note the B. says, when the false prophets shout:"He is in the desert!" DON'T GO!! and the way we will know it to be false: the impersonator/the devil will have his feet ON THE EARTH! Get it? I hope so!

Hi- There is no biblical evidence that the world will eventually become totally (or even almost totally) Christian, but instead there will always be a parallel development of the righteous and the wicked until the final judgment.( Matthew -13:24-30,36-43.)Satan is already bound in a sense because he can not stop the gospel from spreading and we are living in the thousand years not so much as thousand years as we know it.
---ruben on 5/5/05

Ann5758
I have to respectfully disagre with your posting. Here is why. There is NO REFERENCE TO the 7 yr. period you mentioned IN THE BIBLE. I can tell you this was created by C priest by the name of Reebera (so.?) to make up for some shortfall in his int. of the 2300 day prophecy. Also. Jesus will NOT set foot on earth when he comes back, next time. The B.says that we will meet him IN THE SKY!During the 1000 yrs. Jesus will NOT reign on the earth, but in heaven where we will audit the record of the lost Please, please reread the Bible. It is clear!
---Pierr7958 on 5/5/05

Approximately 7 years after the Rapture occurs, Christ will physically set foot on earth on the Mount of Olives, and bind Satan for 1000 years. During that time, He will reign on earth. After the 1000 years is over, He will loose Satan for a time, and Satan will try to overthrow God's people one last time. God will send fire from heaven to consume the heavens & earth, and win the battle. After that, there will be the final judgement, and the new heaven & earth appear (because the old one will be such a mess). His eternal reign with His people will begin on the new earth then.
---Ann5758 on 5/5/05

That is my understanding Bruce according to Scripture. This 1000 years will immediately follow the 7 years of Tribulation.

Celeste: Scriptures say Jesus will rule for 1,000yrs,what's beyond that ,who knows. His heavenly Kingdom will rule both heaven and the new earth! as I understand it.
---1st_cliff on 5/5/05

The Millenial Reign of Christ will be right here on earth. It will last for 1000 years (a millenium) during which time, Satan is bound and unable to exercise his influence on the affairs of men. This does not mean there will be no rebellion against Christ however. At the end of the 1000 years he will be set free and there will be one final confrontation with evil and then the creation of a new heaven and a new earth.
