You asking about Matthew 19:6 in the King James version.

Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.

Matthew 19:6, "Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder."

Lots of ways to put assunder what God has/has'nt joined! Gossip, slander, 'house to house', lies, filthy lucre, usurping authority, adultery or fornication, nights out with the boys/girls, etc! Divorce is only the 'proof in the pudding' so to speak. Assunder still means assunder. The men who condemned the woman caught in the act of adultery [someone usually gets hurt!], were right according to the law. They were wrong by hypocritically trying to tear even a bad marriage 'assunder'! Thank God For Jesus!

It appears twice in the New Testament- Matt.19:6, and Mark 10:9.

Dear Ann: You will find the passage you asked about in Mark: Chapter 10, verse 9; however, please read verses 1 thru 12 to get the full meaning of what Jesus said. One of the best aids to finding Scripture is "Strong's Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible". I believe it is in paperback, so it is less expensive now. This book has all the major words in the Bible so that if you remember just one word, like "asunder", you find the verse easily. Have fun!!

"And so they not two now, but one flesh: therefore a human separate not, that what God has joined." Matthew 19:6.
---Eloy on 5/13/05

The two places that I found this saying were in Matthew 19:6 "Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God has put together, let no man put asunder" and Mark 10:9 "What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder." KJV Hope it helps!
