ALL OF THEM. Why? I need GOD.+

alan, I did word that wrong. Man's sinful nature is to seek revenge. Jesus tells us to turn the other cheek, which can be extremely difficult.
---Greyrider on 2/5/08

"Let your communication be yea, yea, nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil." Keep your conversation of the gospel.
---jodiah on 2/4/08

Greyrider ... "It goes against the sinful nature of man to desire revenge"
I don't think yuo actually meant to say that!
---alan_of_UK on 2/4/08

All - without truly knowing Christ. Otherwise we do them for rewards, selfishness, greed, fear, etc. With Christ doing them in us, we do them for Him.
---dan on 2/4/08

Easy - "turn the other cheek"
It goes against the sinful nature of man to desire revenge
---Greyrider on 2/4/08

John 13:34,
"That ye love one another, as I have loved you, that ye also love one another."
********
Not just "love one another" but "love" as he "loved"!

forgive & forget

we are to mirror Jesus,
Jesus is God,
God forgives & forgets our sins.
i can forgive but to forget what has been done seems almost impossible.

I think the hardest is to shake the dust off my feet and move on
---glady5446 on 6/3/05

I think the passages that refer to speech and the tongue are the hardest for me. "Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouth, except that which is edifying..." I think it is in Ephesians. So hard to live by. I can be very sarcastic, and downright mean sometimes.

It is those verses that teach "DO" and the ones that teach "Don't."

We are by nature a rebellious creature. That is why we need a New Nature.

When the New Nature is fed by the Spiritual Manna of God it grows strong enough to battle the old Nature.

"Love your neighbor as yourself"
"Love your enemies"
"Love those who despitfully use you!"
Those are the toughies for me.

It has become easier as the years go by but cultivating a 24 hour a day prayer life is the most challenging.

1 Thessalonians 5:17 - Pray without ceasing

It is a verse I often repeat to myself

.....and the one before

1 Thessalonians 5:16 Rejoice always.

It isn't that I don't pray or rejoice. It is the ""ALWAYS"" part that I seek guidance from the Holy Spirit for....and I know of other people who like God's statement in these verses.

Thank you folks the words, ideas and verses you shared with me. I am sure to keep these not only in my notes but also in my heart.

Dear Linda: Something I have never grown accustomed to is when Christians ask to borrow something, including money, and don't pay it back. I'm always surprised by this behavior! These people obviously find it difficult to comply or don't care. I call it stealing.

To love your enemies, it is so hard to love someone when they are really mean. I love them, but I hate their ways.

My big struggle is to bless those that curse you..and pray for those that despitefully use you...All part of the denial of self Jesus said that is needed to follow Him...If any will come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross and follow me.
---Karen on 5/30/05

I have sinned in so many ways since I became a Christ. Praise God for his grace and mercy. A kind tongue and loving others are some areas I still fall short.1Jn 1:9
There is a song, "He's still working on me to make me what I aught to be, it took him just a week to make the moon and stars, the sun, and the earth, and jupiter and mars. How loving and patient he must be, cuz he's still working on me. There really aught to be a sign upon my heart saying, don't judge me yet I'm an unfinnished part.
---Ulrika on 5/30/05

"If you all love me, my commandments keep. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous." John 14:15; I John 5:3. His yoke indeed is easy and his burden is light. But the hardest part for me is the suffering and persecution, the discrimination against me for being a christian, always being deprived and having to do without while others just pass me by with happiness.

1 Cor 3:18 says, "But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass [or mirror] the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, {even} as by the Spirit of the Lord."

When we look to Christ and remember that the Christ in us is who we really are, we become more like the Christ in us, without any other effort on our part!

To walk more closely with God, all we need to do is to continually look to Christ and remember who we really are (Christ in us)!

The Word of God is not works based. It's totally by grace! The first few chapters of Romans are very clear on this.

We need to focus on Christ in us (Col 1:27), not our sins.

You can't get rid of darkness by shovelling it out the door. You must introduce light. No effort beyond that is needed. No effort beyond that will have any effect!

To get rid of the darkness of sin, we must introduce the light of God's Word. No other effort is needed. No other effort will have any effect.
---Jeffrey on 5/30/05

For myself, I think the hardest of Jesus' teachings to comply with, is that we are to love one another, even our enimies. Praise God it is getting easier the closer I get to Him!
---Angela on 5/30/05

I guess difficult is dependant on whether I feel like I have to DO the will of God or if I am going to agree that HE is WHO He says He is and that He will do it TROUGH me.
