Oh, yes, my dear Mishon, we can drift away fast and mightily if we don't stay anchored in the Word, have devotions, pray lots, follow God's principles, have believer friends and pay attention to the most important thing on earth, Jesus our Lord and Savior. "Self-righteousness" or pride is behind most of our sin. Like anything else worthwhile it takes effort; however, "His burden is always light". Ask the Holy Spirit for a fresh anointing.

I was out surfing on the net.
You wouldn't believe what I found out there.
There are all kinds of theological sites that take our comments apart, piece by piece.
That was humbling.

Self righteousness is a sin. The Bible clearly says in more than ome place that "There is none righteous-no not one."

Many think that they are saved, but they are not, they are still sinners. And many are church-goers, but they've never become born-again. "Now we know that God hears not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and does his will, him he hears." John 9:31.

I would say the bottom line is we are all sinners. Saved by grace and not of works, though we should not be harsh or too judgemental, we should try to be discerning and pass on Truth to other believers in Love.

It is impossible to be saved and self-righteous too. Either Christ lives in you and you are the righteousness of God or you are not. i have found that religious people who do not know God are self-righteous, but God's true children are holy.

Often when a person comes to know Christ, she has a lot of unrigthousness in her life and after growing in Christ, many of the bad things disappear and are replaced by things new - toward the nature of Christ Himself. One can often see these changes and glory in them with a feeling of being self righteous.

We need to keep our focus and understand that our 'cleaning up' (or sanctification) has largely been the work of the Spirit and not ourselves; so really have nothing to boost in of ourselves.

Any time, I begin to feel smug, I usually stumble and fall back into a humble state. Sometimes it is an actual physical trip/fall or turned ankle.
Humility and sheepiness are part of my private walk even if people think otherwise. So I don't think we ever really forget the gift of salvation. Communion should help us remember at least once a month. Even anger is more easy displaced to peace, when I remember the Christ.

I have been allowed to reach that point. Any time, I begin to feel smug, I usually stumble and fall back into a humble state.

Everything is given to us on a silver platter, we take and take and forget to give back. We Forget the wonderful mercy of the giver.Praise God!!! no matter how much we tend to forget his goodness, he always allows us the chance to give ourselves to him . God Bless you and all of us that realizes our own faults and selfishness towards Christ. Now we can make a change in our unfaithfull doing

Don't be smug. Pride hath a down fall.Practice humility & seek his pardon & mercy.Overconfidence causes one to be too selfrighteous.
