Post a New Blog

Lots of interesting posts in this blog. Here are a few more thoughts that are in support of some responses here but challenging to other responses. First, forgiveness is a door that you must walk through but you must also leave it behind. This leads to a life of relationship with God based on trust and dependence instead of obedience and repentance. If you think about it, we sin all the time. Examining our thoughts reveals this. I imagine that asking for forgiveness makes up 90 percent of our prayer lives. The cycle of repenting and forgiveness fails to understand what Jesus' work has done as this mindset prevents us from living the life He has provided for us to live. I have some more to post.
---Patches on 1/16/11

This is the Good News where before, because of the law and our inability to keep it, we were always feeling that we were in and out of the presence of God (grounded like a scorned child and inadequate) as we refrained from sin only to give into it again respectively. God wants to fellowship and walk with us which the law in unable to do. Therefore, He took it upon Himself to find a way to always be able to live in us. When Jesus indicated that our righteousness must surpass that of the Pharisees in Matthew 5, he certainly adds to the law to provide the chance to have the surpassng righteousness to gain entrance into the kingdom of heaven. Dont think lustfull thoughts and dont be angry! He says. I have more to post.
---Patches on 1/16/11

We are suppose to be people of faith. That is what makes us Christians. Faith in God, dependence upon God.
True believers are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation. Yet many here always speak of deeds. Their faith is still in themselves which indicates they have not changed. Those who endure or those God has promised to keep by His power. The believers today are not believers of faith in Christ because they don't believe God put His guarantee of our perseverance into the New Covenant but are believers living under the Old Covenant. God said, "I will put My fear in their hearts so that they will not depart from Me" Jer. 32:40, and they still think they can depart. Now is that faith in God?
---MarkV. on 9/27/08

Know this, that the old man is dead.
Reckon yourself dead unto sin and alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Yield your members as instruments of righteousness.

In that order.

When Jesus was tempted by the religious Pharisees to condemn an adultress, they found themselves convicted in their own consciences as He revealed Himself. He then empowered the woman by showing her that her accusers were "none" and then said, "Neither do I condemn thee. Go and sin no more." No ministry of condemnation (the law written and engraven on stones), no arousal of sin in the flesh. No arousal of sin, no action of sin.

Thanks for some good information. It has helped me and I will read Galations and 1John again.

Consider yourself dead to sin and alive to God. Are you born again? Did Jesus put sin away? What is your identity? Saint or sinner? Alive or dead?
If your not set free from sin, there is NO salvation, as salvation means life eternal.
---duane on 9/24/08

The death that sin brings is "physical death" every single person in the world is going to die. The wages of sin is death. The norm is that all sin brings death, physical death.
Second, all sin brings forth "spiritual death" because all sin cuts us off from God.
Thirdly, all sin brings forth "eternal death" If I sin, I am condemned to hell. This death is the one the lost receive when they go to hell. They will be cut off from Christ forever.
Fourth, All "born again" believers, will also die a "physical death" but the "eternal death" they had coming is reversed when we put our faith in Christ. Jesus had to die my death for me.
---MarkV. on 9/24/08

You don't! As long as we have a depraved nature, we will continue to sin. No where in Scripture does it say that the believer will live sin free.
---Casey on 9/23/08

Repentance and covering your sins in Christ's blood is a way to get rid of sins. Also take the Sword of the Spirit (The Word of God), and cut, sever, and destroy Satan's plans and assignments against you.
---Leslie on 9/23/08

The wages of sin is death. If we say we sin every day, then we are dead every day. Salvation is life. In HIM we HAVE the forgiveness of sin. We are not in and out of forgiveness, we have been made righteous.
The Cross has made Christians eternally forgiven. It is finished.

We never stop sinning. This is the purpose of confession, repentance and forgiveness.Jesus died for our sins on the cross. When we receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior, our sins are totally forgiven,at that moment. From that point on we need to confess, repent and ask for forgiveness each and every day.Because we sin everyday. Please read all of I John for a better understanding. This book was written for Christians who does not have peace about this topic. Also Galatians will prove very helpful to you on this subject. God bless you beloved.

Except for "Kathr, you are correct.", the rest of your post of 7/23/08 is a complete quote from RC Sproul's, Essential Truths of the Christian Faith. One more book I won't be reading but at the rate you quote these books, word for word (except minor spelling errors), no need to read the book itself...

"By the Spirit you are to put to death the deeds of the flesh."

How does one do that? By developing a relationship with Jesus, let Him show you the depth of His love towards you. As you begin to fall in love with Him, you will not want to sin.

Get the Baptism of the Holy Spirit according to Acts Chapter 2:38. Find someone that has it and ask them to lay hands on you and pray for you to have God's Holy Spirit Baptize you in the name of Jesus Christ.

He is your helper, your comforter, your everything. As you walk in the Spirit which is walking by the Word of God, you will not fulfill the desires of your flesh.

Make a decision to turn away from your sins NOW and God will help you to keep away from them.
---donna8365 on 7/24/08

In Romans chapter 3,verse 4 it reads "..let God be true, but every man a liar." God gives us the answer to the question for this blog in Hebrews chapter 12, verse 1,"..let us lay aside every weight and the sin that doth so easily beset us, and run with patience the race that is set before us." We can stop sinning as we grow in the Lord, identify the sin, "lay it aside" as the scripture says, "pray without ceasing" and "Walk in the spirit that we fulfil not the lust of the flesh" as we read in Galatians chapter 5, verse 16.
---Theresa on 7/24/08

Catherine, I will say this,...none of us is flawless and without mistakes, plus "if we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us" according to I John chapter 1, verse 8. Where we as Christians can fall short is to make excuses for continuing in a sin and not "laying aside the sin" that does so easily beset us. We should admit, "confess our sins" and the next verse, verse 9 says "he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins." We have the Holy Spirit living in us to give us the power to be overcomers!

Luke 8:10
And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables, that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand...

Notice the PLURAL...MYSTER(IES).

The Pearl of Great of the MysterIES of the Kingdom is the Church...where JESUS left ALL, and Purchased the Church with His own Blood.... His Bride, taken out...just as Eve was taken out of Adam. The Church is taken out of Christ in this same way...bone of His Bone...and Flesh of His Flesh.

This is a Great Mystery as Paul states.

There are Many Mysteries of the Kingdom of Heaven and Kingdom of God.
---kathr4453 on 7/23/08

Kathr, you are correct. Jesus inauguarte the kingdom of God. He has already been enthroned in Heaven. But it is as though He is a king in exile with few loyal subjects. At His return He will fully consummate His reign. The New Testament indicated that the kingdom of God is both persent and future. There is an "already" and "not yet" to the kingdom. Both aspects must be understood and embraced by Christians. To view the kingdom either as already totally realized or as totally futuristic is to do violence to the message of the New Testament. "We serve a King who has already been enthroned. Yet we await His triumphal return in glory when every knee will bow before Him."
---Mark_V. on 7/23/08

Nana, John announced the Earthly Kingdom, said....I must decrease and He must increase. The Kingdom was announced, then set aside...Why, because it will be the RISEN LORD,who was Crucified and Rose again who will take the throne in the Earthly Kingdom

There are two comings of Christ to Israelin of KING and one of Redeemer...

Israel, confused when Jesus didn't overthrow Rome as will happen during His Reign at the 2nd Coming.

The Lord is building HIS CHURCH now to reign and rule WITH HIM at that time. This is the Gospel according to the Mystery.

When HE returns He will come back , IN ALL HIS GLORY first appearing He LEFT Glory, humbled himself, took on the form of a servant, went to the Cross.

I need not guess on confused people. There have always been and will be. Look at yourself who just said,"Nana, when Jesus spoke in Matthew He was speaking about the Earthly Kingdom that will in fact be legalistic. The 1000 year Kingdom Reign will be under Kingdom LAW." Next, you turn around and say that the Earthly Kingdom was ushered by John the Baptist which you again repeat, "Well Nana, here is a group of those who followed John the Baptist and the Earthly KINGDOM ..." What is it then? Will be, was, won't be?
---Nana on 7/23/08

Well Nana, here is a group of those who followed John the Baptist and the Earthly KINGDOM ...and Guess what...they were clueless. Praise God Paul found them and explained the Gospel according to the MYSTERY.

Acts 19:2-4

2He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.

3And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism.

4Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.
---kathr4453 on 7/22/08

"The Kingdom of Heaven is the Earthly Kingdom John the Baptist announced....water baptism only.

The Kingdom of God is WITHIN YOU, and this comes with the Baptism of Jesus Christ, John never gave the Baptism with Fire...only GOD can do that."

? Jesus was speaking of the Earthly Kingdom that would be, yet it was already through water baptism which John the Baptist announced?

**are you saying Jesus was a legalist? **

Nana, when Jesus spoke in Matthew He was speaking about the Earthly Kingdom that will in fact be legalistic. The 1000 year Kingdom Reign will be under Kingdom LAW.

The Church is under GRACE, the CROSS.

The book of John is actually to the must be born again. Does Matthew teach this? NO

John 3:3
Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily,I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

John 3:7
Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

1 Peter 1:23
Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God,which liveth and abideth for ever.

You never do stop sinning. We all sin. The difference is recognizing the sin and repenting for it and turn away from it. We all have our own spirits on us and we have to fight them. Cursing, hate, gluten, envy, immoral sexual desires, etc...We all sin.
1 John 1:8-10
If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives.
---dayce on 7/20/08

Stop spending all your time thinking on sin. Find a church that preaches sin..and you will find the biggest sinners! Focus on the Word of God...Renew your mind with it. Listen to it..meditate on it.. You will find when you do this...the scripture will show you your sin..and you will have the power to stop it completely. As you work out your salvation day by day...the Lord will change you and give you the grace to overcome!!

"The best defense is a good offense."

Stay busy loving.

Enjoying the LORD . . . attentive to Him, instead of whatever has power over you to get your mind elsewhere > "I will not be brought under the power of any." (in 1 Corinthians 6:12)

Win the attention war. Trust God to have you with Him doing what He has you doing.

I notice how the "Our Father" starts with attention to our Father. It does not begin with our sins, but love first, with Him. Have your fill of love with Him, first, and sin's pleasures will not be attractive > Psalm 63:3.
---Bill_bila5659 on 7/19/08

No one can stop sinning by their own strength. You have to understand your own flesh and it's inherit nature to sin. It never has and never will serve God. Back to the how? By faith in Christ! You are not going to stop sinning by have your focus on your own sinful nature, having your conscience focused on your own sin is only going magnify yourself in stead of Christ. So, instead, lets focus on the fact that Christ has imparted His righteousness to us - "You are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus" - II Cor. 5:21. This is the way to victory over sin in your life. You see, Christ has to take control of your flesh and the more you believe the Word and take on His righteousness, the less you will sin.

You made some good points in your last blog and so did Emcee. 1 Cor 10:12 verse culminates the recount of he says of "our fathers" who "2: And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea, 3: And did all eat the same spiritual meat, 4: And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ." Such is written for our "ensamples", for our "admonition", that simply, "9: Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents." Presuming on God's goodness is to state we are dead to sin and alive to God as if these things were automatic and final. If being alive to God did not require commitment and reverence to God, Paul would not have stated, "...even so we also should walk in newness of life.", Romans 6:4. Alive to God is our commitment to God. Romans 6:12: "Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof." In 1 Corinthians 10, Paul gives a strong admonition that can be summarized as, "Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God." when he said, 1 Cor 10:12: "Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall."

1Jo 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

Our goal is to not sin. Now remeber sinning is not making mistakes. Sinning is breaking the law of GOD. Grace has paid the penalty and being filled with the HOLY SPIRIT give power. John Wesley said to truly follow GOD you must develop a method to keep your mind on him. Pray, read your Bible and seek to do good to others.

DDM, we don't have to poke out an eye or cut off a hand......Calvary took care of our old sin nature. The CROSS put to death our old man. If you cut off your hand or poke out an eye so you can enter are trying to climb over some other way.

Come through the CROSS, and God deals not only with your eyes and hands but He actually deals with your HEART, which in fact deal with the WHOLE man...not bits and pieces.

Again, you are in the wrong Kingdom...because flesh and blood cannot enter into the Kingdom of God, only the NEW CREATURE can.

---Duane_Dudley_Martin on 7/17/08

There are other scriptures that you must look at and study. To simply ask God to forgive you and you are not sincere, He will not. I wonder how many true Christians will miss heaven. This is also scripture: Unless you live a holy life you will not see God. I suggest that you might look that one up. Let me know when you find it.
---catherine on 7/17/08

Catherine, this is not what the Gospel teaches.

When we sin, He is faithful and Just to forgive us of sin, and cleanse us from all unrighteousness...

Paul said...Shall we continue to sin that Grace may abound? GOD FORBID...then goes on to explain what exactly GRACE is..... Grace is not the idea that we can presume on God's goodness, after we are saved.

I am Crucified with longer I but Christ in me....and the life that I NOW LIVE in the flesh, .....

WE DIED TO SIN!!!!! NOW we LIVE unto GOD!!!!

He came to set us FREE, to DELIVER from the power of SIN. GRACE does this...LAW never could.

How does one stop sinning?

Lots of will power in the beginning and a
prayer to God:

Our Father in heaven, holy is your name.
Your Kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.

This prayer is just an example. We must pray a similar pray from the heart.

Eloy ... I'm sorry ... I will omit that last question. which could be interpreted as accusing you of being self-righteous.
But my other questions ... you have not answered these. And you have not answered Kathay, nor Rebecca.
You accuse me of being the Accuser of Brothers ... but it seems to me that is you because you accuse virtually every Christian of not being one, because they acknowledge that they still sin.
---Alan8869_of_UK on 7/14/05

Alan, i have already answered the same kinds of questions numerous times, but you still refuse to hear the answer. No matter how many times it is asked, my answer will never change and it will always be the same. Why don't you ask a question ever desiring any honest answer from me, but instead you always ask of me only endeavoring to find fault. Are you the Accuser of the brothers?
---Eloy on 7/5/05

It all depends on what you think is sin? As long as we are in this flesh, we will sin, not meaning to. Paul said "To knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him that is a sin". I don't know anyone on this earth that does good all the time. The more word you apply in your heart, the more the flesh dies. I think it is possible for one to be close to God like Moses and Abraham, Noah were. I am not there yet, but I am working on it.
---Jo on 7/4/05

No, I did not mean 'ouch' Alan sir. I meant one of a couple of more common words that slip out when a mistake happens, a 4 letter bad word. I would have written ouch, i cannot write a bad word. It happens to me, I'm not even sure if its a sin, but I always tell god I am sorry I said a bad word, or at least thought of a bad word that I would not say in public.
---Kathay on 7/4/05

Eloy: why are these words in the Bible?
"If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us?"
"Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive them ..."

And ... I do not think that Rebeccas was meaning the word "ouch" for when you stubbed your toe. I certainly do not use that word.
And ... is not your frequent refusal to answer honest questions some sort of sin?

When choose Christ, He makes you free from sin and death. He does not take personal choices from you. To stop sinning, you must willingly choose not to. The more you are in God's word, the easier it becomes. I recommend starting in Romans, and good luck

Kathay, you overlook fated theodicy. God said to Satan the destroyer, Here's my righteous servant Job, do to him whatever you want but don't kill him. So the devil killed all of his children; gave him a horrible disease; and turned his wife and friends against him. He rightly complained to God for his bad treatment, and he didn't make any bad choices with his freewill, he didn't ask for any trouble, nor did he deserve any of the hell given to him. God was totally responsible for Job's misfortune, not Job.

God creates us, then we have free will to act as we want. Yes He holds control, but he depends on you to choose what you will allow him to do THRU you. If you always to feel sorry for yourself and blame that on God,He has no part in that. The bible tells us that He wishes for us to prosper in every way.He has given you a life to decide how you live it.You can't blame Him for bad choices, or bad people in your life. You make your life better wih His help.Blessings

Kathay, There is only one judge of all the earth. Saying "ouch" when stubbing my toe is not sin, and holding God responsible for all that happens to me is not sin either, it is his life and not mine, for he is in complete control of my life whether to prosper or to temper. God does take away sin, that is what the crucifixion has done. And i do have friends, just as Job had. Jesus wept, and Eloy weeps. Thank you for your view.

Eloy: what is sin to you? Just what the bible speaks of, or everything in general? Kathay makes a real good point. I think she read your spirit better than I did.

Be clear,I'm not judge you Eloy.It is upsetting to see some of your blogs.'the only thing that makes u happy is being closer to the end'you have no friends,no fun,is that God's fault? You are blaming God, not good.
Please stop argueing and pray that this man sees God's light so God will start blessing him.I will not even tell you what I went through to escape the country of my birth.I left family and had to hide from officials I nearly died of dehydration. You are so blessed and don't even know it.

Eloy you cannot have your sin nature 'removed',I wonder what you consider sin? If you stub your toe and say ----,is that sin? Or are you just speaking of adultery, blaspheming and the like? I think you are in sin by blaming God for your misfortunes. The 1st post I recall from you was about suicide and whether it was a sin.My culture does not blame God when things go wrong, you need to look inward and see what YOU are doing,or NOT doing to be so miserable.

Rebecca, i have given chapters not merely one verse. The verses you quote are out of context. Start with I John 1:6-10 rather then 8-10, and you will see whom the passage refers to. And start with Romans 7:24 to 8:17 rather then 7:25 alone, again you will see that God has saved Paul from serving sin. The greek word in Hebrews 12:6 is paideyei, meaning trains. "for whom the Lord loves he trains, and plagues every son whom he receives."
