Mark chapter 4. Keep sowing the word so that it will grow larger than thing else in your life. This is what Jesus told us how it works for us.
---Bryan on 5/15/14

This person,maybe not here,but
Truth everyone has something in their lives, we need the Lord to help us stop,it could
be any type of sin. The Lord help me stop a fornication a sin, it was a constant "hurt" shame to myself, and I never stop bring took it to the Lord He did it for me!complete Deliverance Glory to God! Of coarse I kept hearing people talk against it.God moves in many ways all we need be honest with him. Ps.1 Heb.11:1
Love of Jesus!

"Seriously, how do I stopped?"
Like everything else in life, simply make a sincere choice to do so. Make that choice sincerely, and the Father will empower the ability to implement it. What Father commands, He empowers. "Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need." Eph 4:28
---Josef on 5/4/14

I mentioned the following earlier in this blog and it's worth repenting.

Simple. Start repaying everyone you stole from. That will hurt so bad you won't want to do it again
---Rod4Him on 5/1/14

There is a Mental Problem called kleptomania. You may need to find a good Christian Psychologist. Yes there are some.

They can help you. Prayer and dying to self is how we all overcome all sin. But some need extra help and that is okay.

GOD bless and keep you.
---Samuelbb7 on 4/30/14

I have the same problem. This is generational. Find the root. I have to uproot it by the word of God. Nothing but the word works. Not crying, not desiring, not hoping. The action of the word in prayer and when the temptation arises, using the word, not will power, to defeat that principality. Let us pray for each other. Search the scriptures and write it as a prayer for temptation will come arise to test you to see if you have overcome by the blood of the Lamb. Amen.
---Deborah on 4/29/14

God is more than able to meet all your needs, you don't need to steal. Others get hurt by your action and you lose your peace and probably something dear to you. It's not worth it. I pray for you to have grace to say no each time your hand moves to steal. Find someone that can hold you accountable if you are really serious about stopping this habit. I think you are brave to share your secret. God bless you.

The word of God >> Zech.5: 3-4,..the curse that goeth forth over the face of the whole earth: for every one that stealeth shall be cut off... I will bring it forth says the Lord of hosts, and it shall enter into the house of the thief...and shall consume it...(AKJV).

Please pray that God shows you what you are losing in return. In time past ~1989 while in paid employment, I used to be involved in receipt over-invoicing. But 1 time when I stole 150=NGN thro'it, days after my TV & my dad's TV got spoilt. My TV's repair did cost me 1000=NGN while my dad's cost 500=NGN: exactly 10 times what I thought I had gain wrongfully. The Holy Spirit connected the 2 events to me and i stopped stealing.
---Adetunji on 10/20/11

It's simple. Just stop stealing. No one is making you steal, you make a concious choice to sin every time you steal. When you sin, you choose Satan over God. Satan can temp you, but he can't make you give in, that is your doing. God's recipe for overcoming sin is plain and simple: Submit to God, resist Satan, Satan will flee you.
---Jed on 10/20/11

Know that God loves you, He sent Jesus Christ to set you free from all sin and bondages. Believe, take your place as a child of God and take control of your physical desires. Also, delight yourself in the Lord, not in worldly materials. Say No.
---Brenda on 10/20/11

Seriously like anything else. You make up your mind to never steal again and you won't.

Exodus 20:17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife,

I think this only applies to men, if you see a husband you like feel free to steal him
---francis on 1/24/11

Tracy,
Leviticus 6: 1-7 If they have sinned in any of these ways, they must give back whatever they have taken by theft or extortion, whether a security deposit, or property entrusted to them, or a lost object that they claimed as their own, or anything gained by swearing falsely. When they relize their guilt, they must restore the principal amount plus a penalty of 20 percent to the person they have harmed. First confess your sin to the God and to others. Then return what was taken. (or if that is not possible, some equivalent) and attempt to restore any damaged relationships. As hard as this may be, it is easier than living with the guilt and the burden of a damaged relationship. It also will please the Lord.

As you have confessed to us, have you confessed to God? If you have done so, next ask HIM to help you to overcome this challenge with HIS power, wisdom and understanding. One thing i know about theft is that it allows the devil room in your life to block God ordained good-things from coming to you. Do you know that fornication & adultery is also theft?

Tracy, if you cannot stop no matter what you do, cut one hand off and then ask someone to cut your other hand, for it is better to enter heaven with no hands, then to go to hell with both of them.
---Mark_V. on 12/30/10

Well Tracy, that would be necessary ONLY if you were under Kingdom Law.
Christians today nder GRACE don't need to cut off hands or poke out eyes to enter the Kingdom of God, for flesh and blood can't enter there anyway.

I would say TODAY we are baptized into His death and die to sin ...ALL PARTS of our being, and are raised a NEW Creature. Walk in the NEW CREATURE, and you won't steal.

Robyn, you are still away, for you blaspheme the righteousness of Christ, and you are a sin-supporter.

Tracy - You MUST repent of your sins. Repentance is when you say you are sorry and then TURN AWAY from it. The Bible says in Luke 13:3 to repent or perish (die and go to Hell), but also in 1 John 1:9 that if you confess your sins, He is faithful and just to forgive and cleanse of all unrighteousness. Also read 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, and Revelation 21:8.
---Leslie on 12/31/10

jesus died for you, he died to set you free, check 2 corinthians 3 v 6,17 you are liberated from any bondage of the devil in JESUS'S NAME. i pray that the spirit of the lord will dwell in you and liberate you, also see galatians 5 v1. be blessed child of GOD.
PRAYERFULLY study the passages and believe that GOD is setting you free.

Eloy: It was people of your character who turned me away from Christianity for many years. But thank God I came to my senses, through the grace of God, before it was too late.
You don't have a heaven or hell to put me in and for that I am grateful.
---Robyn on 12/31/10

Robyn, you blaspheme, ok, because you are not born-again. You yourself are in need of salvation, and then you also may bear fruits of righteousness rather than fruits of lies and blasphemy.

Eloy: You need to stop placing burdens on others. Christians are sinners saved by grace--ok. Christians slip into sin and need forgiveness from our heavenly Father. This does not givve us a license to sin but christians do sin. We(christians) have to die to self everyday. We have to choose everyday to follow Christ. But we still sin. The christian life is not a life of do's and don'ts. It is a life of grace. Coupled with God's mercy and love.
---Robyn on 12/30/10

Hi. Kleptomania is a real mental illness (uncontrollable urge to steal). I used to work with an elderly women who was a severe kleptomaniac--fun! :/ But I felt sorry for her. But others are right too--you do need the deliverance of Jesus Christ, my dear.
---Mary on 12/29/10

You are not a Christian, because Christians do not steal. Get saved and become a real Christian, then your new heart will desire to give rather than to take.

A person that steals has many problems and issues. They need deliverance and salvation. And God is able to do this. They also need to talk to someone about this problem( a psychiatrist) and seek that type help also. Stealing is a demonic spirit. The person could be angry, selfish, feel entitlement, have little money, don't won't to work etc..Many reasons for stealing. But the bottom line is: it is a serious mental problem that can ultimately, lead to death, if left unchecked. Stealing from others can get you killed! Some people detest a thief and hunt them down to take back what the thief stole. I have seen this happen. Stealing is a terrible sin.
---Robyn on 12/28/10

Psalms 119:11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

This is a HEART problem. Some may call it a conversion problem.

There is every possibility that you are not yet converted
Psalms 19:7 The law of the LORD [is] perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD [is] sure, making wise the simple.
---francis on 12/25/10

only God can change a person.if you wilfully surrender your life to God and admit your sinfulness to HIM-HE will deliver you.in your own will power-you cannnot make it.Its God's power within you who will be able you to take control of yourself.Stay tune with God's word everyday-and the renewing of the mind from reading God's word will help you make the right choice.

Char gave some good advice. I know I had a family member that shop lifted a cheap tube of lipstick, was caught and spent the next year paying for probation and it ended up cost her a lot of money. As far as I know, she never took anything else. The bad thing is she had the money to buy what she wanted.
---shira3877 on 12/24/10

I cannot stop stealing either. I cannot go into a store without taking something. Its getting really bad. I think its a demonic spirit of sorts and I need to find a way to not agree with it. I'm scard. I feel very alone. I'm such a mess. I look on the internet and the only thing I find is very old posts and people who want to charge money for you to take a course on how to stop. Ya right! I don't think so. What can help? Plus, things are sooooo expensive. ahhh....
feeling confused and hopeless.

Kiwi-
Praise God for His mercy and grace.
It looks like you're willing to confess this to your brothers and sister In-Christ here on the blog-Have you confessed this before God? True repentance brings Remission.

God loves the sinner-just hates the sin.
Think about confessing it to your family-or a family member-considering you are aware you will be caught. Seek wisdom from God and ask a family member to assist you in seeking recovery for this addition.
God Bless-He is love.

Well, God does not hate you. There are some people that are not fans of His, I assure you. I do not believe that you are one of them, because, you are honest. There may be hope for you. He came to save the sinner, not the righteous. If you only knew, if you only knew, my friend, how discussing the self-righteous, are in God's eyes....If your family says anything to you about this tell them how did you ever live a life free from sin? Let me know the answer that they came back with. Be happy.

Stopping a bad habit requires "taking control" of yourSELF (instead of SURRENDERING "SELF"). The Lord gives us good advice and warns against SELF abasement/ABATEment...

Colossians 2:18
"Let no one disqualify you, insisting on self-abasement".

The traditional teachings that we should "surrender"/deny SELF are WRONG/dehumanizing.

Each person has the option to let their goodness be of their own FREEWILL (Philemon verse 14).

You only THINK you can't stop because you have been taught THE ATTITUDE of DENYING "freewill". A person cannot truly be Godly in behavior if they must FORCE themselves ("OBEY"), but can only be truly Godly if they WILLINGLY behave Godly.

In the first place you cannot have victories unless God gives them to you. God actually said that to me not so long ago, face to face, which means {directly}, and it sure did take a lot of pressures off me. This is strange, because one of the Ten Commandments is "thou shalt not steal" you know!

You know as well as others that stealing is wrong. So the next time you feel the urge to steal, tell satan that you are in control of these urges with the help of God. Tell satan to leave you alone and never bother you again with these temptations is the name of Jesus!!!

You really need to consider how you'd feel if you got something stolen from you. What if by stealing you create a big problem for someone else that can cause a spiritual problem for them ? Someone spiritually went down cause they got robbed or someone never comes to Jesus because they are angry they got robbed ? You think that'll please God ?. (Exudos 20:8) God said clearly, thou shall not steal. I can say this, To steal from someone else is like stealing from God.
---vilma_vivi on 6/13/05

As the late [great man of God] Pastor John Osteen used to say, "How Big Is Your Want To"? This is a spiritual battle, and we have to do what Jesus Christ Himself did on The Mount Of Temptation, defeat satan and 'His own Flesh' with His will and the Word(s) of God {Lke.4:1>13*14}. God then sent angels to strenghten Jesus afterwards [Matt.4:11, Mk.1:13]. We, as believers have authority over the (d)evil one as INDIVIDUALS also! Lke.10:19>20, Eph.6:10>17. [Rom.7:13>25, 8:1>28].
---Elishama on 6/12/05

A very straightforward solution: PRAY to God about it (you can't stop committimg a sin by yourself)and MEAN it; repent of this sin, and leave the rest up to God. As long as you are saved God will NEVER leave you, but your relationship with Him is damaged every time you sin and repentance is mandatory to repair it.

Hello,Have you received Gods Holy Spirit? If not ask Jesus for his spirit, it is a gift that you need as a christian to help you to live a righteous life before him. Jesus loves you, and the devil hates you. Tell the devil that he is a liar and you will not steal in Jesus Name.

I had the same problem & to me it was something I had no control over. What I did was hit the alter & asked God to shut any doors I had opened that he had not & to deliver me from this bondage. I literally felt something the size of a person piggy backing me get lifted off me. After church I went to do some shopping & the enemy tried to entice me to steal but it was on the outside of me..separate and I didn't do it. The enemy only has power if you give it to him, so take back that ground he's stolen!

One thing that may help you that helped me immensely is pay back the places you've stolen from. I sent anonymous letters and explained what happened and that I had become a Christian and realized my folly. I placed along with the letter the amount of money I thought would cover the items I stole. As soon as I dropped the letters in the mailbox I felt clean of the sins. That and prayer encouraged me to not steal again. Just pray and trust in God. He'll help you.
