In Luke chapter 13, verse 28 Jesus tells that some will see "Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets in the kingdom of God", and you yourselves "thrust out." There is recognition of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob by people he spoke to in this passage who weren't even born when these patriarchs walked the earth. Definitely we will know who everyone is in heaven.

The Old Testament does not talk of an after life much (please correct me if I am wrong). The rewards and punishments were seen as meted out in this present life. True, it says the body goes to hades or to the ground, but the spirit goes to be with God in Ecclesiastes. How did they know this? It was before the resurrection of Jesus. Obviously the Holy Spirit revealed this truth. Nowadays with technological advances some people are saved from total death after a severe accident/illness but have had experiences of the next life. They say that they meet other people on the way to, and in Hell. Going to Heaven seems to be all about going to be in a beautiful land with God and angels. (Not many people will make it.)

The bible says that you will be known as your are known. I haven't seen my grandparents on my dad's side, uncles, I haven't met, but I will know them. Our spirit will know eachother.

I agree totally with Bruce on this. We will recognise our loved ones but we will not be the same relationships with them. "for they shall neigher marry nor be given in marriage". I heard an interesting sermon once they think the housing will be allocated according to the chain of people how you came into the kingdom. Hmmm, interesting.

They will be there if they are saved but you will not be concerned because it is a place where there is only happiness. You will be focusing on the Lord who has given you what you were made for.

Eloy-- I am hoping we will. I have a very dear grandmother I know is there. No question about it. She never did preach or really witness very much. She would get up in the mornings while were all there and turn the radio on to a preacher that she loved as loud as she could. And we would still be in bed. Preacher's name was brother Bishop. She was a virtuous woman, if ever was one. Praise God.

Yes you will.

The son of man Christ took stripes so we could have healing and death so we could have life was resurrected so we could live again ascended so we could be with him in heaven where he is, I go there all the time.

Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

I think maybe some of you need to be born again so you can see the kingdom of God.

no one has acended to heaven but the son of man .(jesus) that is it no where in the bible does it say we go to heaven right away when we die look you wont find it or bad peaple going to (hell-death no more life)when they die we sleep tell the reserection .paul clearly teaches this even david is waiting for this reserection.eternal life is a (gift)the dead hell hades will not have eternal life in hell with everlasting flames this is one of satans greatest deceptions eternal life is a gift prove me wrong

But those who put their faith in Christ will never Die, death will lose it's Sting for the same Spirit that raised Christ will quicken your mortal body and you will be changed in a moment,a twinkling of an Eye, being sown in corruption you will be raised incorruptible, receiving your Spiritual body you will be with Christ and upon his return your body that lay in a Grave will be resurrected and made in the fashion of his Body and you will dwell upon the earth in the new kingdom.

The just will live by Faith meaning that if you believe your going to rot in the Ground thats what you will get because thats your faith you do not believe in the one who can raise you up, you have believed a weak doctrine of Man, If you believe in God you must believe that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him, weak religion makes me sick and it makes Jesus throw up.

Revelation 3:16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

Yes we will. In Jesus's story of paradise (yes I know that paradise is not heaven) there was clearly the concept of knowing who people were in the after life. We will know Jesus. Moses and Elijah were recognized at the time of Jesus transfiguration.

Relationships are another matter. I do not expect to be reunited with my deceased wife as my "wife" in heaven.

we dont go to heaven right away we die..the bible didnt say that at all...we go back to dust in our graves..only the breath that God gave us that goes back to God Himself..when Christ comes, He can easily procreate us in new bodies before we meet Him in the air to be with the ressurected ones. provided our loved ones will make it to heaven, yes, we will meet them all and I pray that we will...
---jana on 8/24/06

Yes, there are no strangers in heaven.
---Eloy on 2/12/06

we will be transformed,& recognise each other, we will be "married" to the Lamb..we will have spiritual bodies, not natural ones. . we will be changed in the twinkling of an eye, no eye has seen , nor ear heard, etc.. I believe we will know each other, those of us who rejoice in the Lord together now, will REALLY rejoice in heaven , I cannot wait to be with Him, other believers, the loved ones that make it into Kingdom...we will know each other, but Jesus is whom I want to see most....

Bruce; A vision is indeed a "spectacle"(something seen of an impressive nature)-dict. Carefully reading 1cor.13.12 Paul is saying Jesus will know him and he will know Jesus. From this you assume everyone will know everyone? If you are resurrected with the same features you had before ,of course all your family and friends will know you!

The word (Matt 17:9) is horama {hor'-am-ah} and means "that which is seen, spectacle." (Strong)
Even if the story of paradise was just a parable, Jesus always used real (possible) things, circumstances etc in His parables.
Also, we will know Jesus and we will "know as we are known." I Cor 13:12

Jesus told his disciples he would eat and drink with them in Heaven. Matt 26:29 I seems reasonable to think that they would know each other there as they will know him.
He is and always will be "the son of man" and the first fruit of humanity. We will experience what he has. If we will know him, it is only reasonable (in the light of the other scriptures) that we will know each other.

Bruce;Let me preface by saying I respect your posts and wisdom, but consider this..Tha bible dosen't say Peter,James and John "recognized" Moses and Elijah (they had never met them!)They were either told or introduced, but verse 9 clearly says it was a "vision"! The paradise story(as you call it) a parable,if literal why is the rich man clothed? for modesty?(they are not sexed!) cold? is there a heavenly "tailor" see what happens when you take something out of context!
