Hi, Something that really helped me was to read Psalms 139 every morning and night, it reminded me that God had never left me but I Him. I myself have been in the depths of drug addiction, today by the Grace of God I have been clean and sober for over 3 years! No matter where we are God is there! Love and Light, Kathy :)

Go on your knees, pray sincerely, open your heart to the Lord, repent and start reading your Bible, go to church, pray continuously and remember to have an ongoing relationship with God, is to talk, communicate with God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirirt. How can you ignore someone who sees, hears and knows everything, you including. Blessings to you.

Jim, I was away from God for a long time also and I kept feeling conviction for things I was doing. I was invited to a church once during a camp meeting and the conviction I felt was overwhelming. I ask God to forgive me for what I had done and not done.(not praying, not going to church, not being a good witness). I am thankful God kept dealing with my heart. Is God dealing with your heart? My friend pray for conviction and forgiveness.

The fastest and most direct connection to God is no further away than your knees are from the floor.

Oh Jim, you might as well start celebrating. God loves nothing better than welcoming back a prodigal son! Pray for Jesus to come again to you; recommit your life to Him, ask His forgiveness. What a joyous person you will be. I was on a 40 year detour also, but did God ever bless me when I was baptized in the Holy Spirit and rededicated my life! I've been on fire ever since. Take heart, my friend! JESUS IS ALIVE.......ALWAYS!

I was in the same boat. For me, baby steps. Just come back little by little. He's waiting, and soon you will know he never left. It's hard to understand that his love is unconditional, but it is.

Jim, I was in a cult for many years.It eventually caused me to have such a dark place in my heart. When I came out of it I had to go back to the basics.It was like starting all over.
There are many very good things here listen with your heart.You know God is calling you home. Just as the prodical son, Your heavenly Father wants to put his arms around you. He has never left you because He says, I will never leave you nor forsake you.
Turn to God right now.

The Bible tells us in Col 2:6,7 "therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him". You received Jesus by grace through faith, and that not of yourself; it is (and was)the gift of God, not by works, lest anyone should boast. If you want to walk with Him again, it's just the same, by grace through faith. He loves you just like He always has and there isn't anything you can do to change that.

Like the Prodigal son, HE has been waiting for you at the gate since the 1st. day you left His family.
Pray to Him, ask Him to receive you into His open arms. He promised to Never Leave us or Forsake us.
God bless,

Since you have been away from God for so long the first thing you need to do is to get very humble, pray Lord please reveal me any sins I have in my life. As He reveals them immediatly repent asking for forgiveness. He may do this immediatly or it could be done a little at a time. Trust Him. He is faithful to forgive. True repentance is what He requires. God bless you

Hi Jim, I've been in your shoes and it seemed so awkward and difficult but after taking the first step by going with a friend to church it was so easy. God has a way of blessing you when you return when we dont deserve it. Draw strength and follow example of the prodigal son. It says "when he came to himself...." and "while he was yet far off, His father came to him and cloaked him in his coat". There is much meaning in this. Read the story and ask God to lead you.

Dear Jim,
Do you know the parable of the lost son? God is waiting for you, just go on your knees, accept Jesus to come into your heart. Than you don't need "to find a(ny) way to God" but God comes down to you! God loves you like the Father in the parable. Be sure!

Jim;
One way is to rearrange your time to spend more time with JESUS either by reading about Him, meditating about His ways of relating to others or praying and praising Him seeking ever to be more like Him. HE IS THE WAY! and by beholding Him you will become like Him.
