Is Jesus Enough For You

I don't feel that I need mansions in heaven or streets of gold. I will be happy just to see my loving Jesus face to face and be reunited with my loved ones. Does anyone else feel the same? Just wondering.

I get a little offended when a friend of mine exclaims constantly about how wonderful it will be in heaven to walk on streets of gold. I will be happy just to be in the prescense of my Savior no matter what the streets are made of. I wonder if thats all she thinks about are the gold and the jewels. [ I know she doesn't she is a good christian ] but I do wonder what comes first in her life sometimes.

I agree completely, Jesus is all I need. A fellow church member once said to me, "My mansion will be the smallest one in heaven."
And there is a hymn titled "Build My Mansion Next Door To Jesus." But I believe there will be no upper-class or lower-class neighborhoods there. God is Love, and His love is all we need. If we have a crown with stars, we will lay them at Jesus' feet.

I want what John saw. Read Revelations 21-22. We will have it all. Anything that my God has to offer me, I am surely going to take it. Some say I am greedy. but yet I am not for God promised this to his chosen ones.

Good question (one of the best I've seen here). What could possibly be better than seeing the face of perfection?

Praise God! I shall be rejoicing in the presence of my Lord Jesus Christ in heaven as on earth. Thy Kingdom is come when He is in our hearts, here and there! Oh, what a beautiful Saviour!! Just think, we'll be able to meet each other face to face. Granma Elsie

I also do feel the same. And I feel that Jesus is enough for me here on earth too. The world can fall apart around you and people will always let you down, but when you have Jesus...He is really all you need.

Thank all of you so much for your wonderful replies. I was away for the weekend and dreaded reading the blog for fear someone would think I was being blasphemous or ungrateful. I love Jesus with all my heart and He has done many wonderful things for me. I know we're going to love heaven, whatever it looks like. Love in Christ, JJ

Heaven will be what God had originally planned for man - both the beauty of creation and His relationship with us. Gold is beautiful but in our sinful humanity we have made it a god and our world is based on it. In heaven it is merely going to be the "asphalt" we walk on! Pardon my sense of humor, but I love the irony!

All we say for sure is that it will be far more beautiful than we can ever imagine, many times more beautiful than what we consider natural beauty here on Earth. What will make it beautiful will be the presence of Jesus. There will be no more pain, tears, fear etc.

I am not too crazy about streets of gold either, but I choose to believe that it will be just wonderful, so I too like to think how wonderful it will be to sit at Jesus's feet and to thank Him for not giving up on me and not ever publically embarassing me when I messed up over and over again!

Cont.#3: JJ, you are right, we don't need mansions nor streets of gold in Heaven! We need the very "elements" provided to Adam and Eve during Creation! The "elements" include, of course, the presence of God!!!

JJ, if we look into Genesis, the creation of the world, we have the picture of God's perfect habitation for men: A garden. There was no mansion or street of gold. I particularly understand that. I do not limit the powers of God! He can make mansions and streets of gold with out passing through the many processes to be able to construct one for Adam and Eve! But why He didn't furnish Adam and Eve with one? Because He knew they don't need these mansions and streets of gold to be able to live!

JJ, I feel the same way too. "Mansions" and "streets of gold": I normally hear them in songs pertaining to heaven. If you look into the date when the songs were written, you would see that the song was written a long time ago, when only the rich and the very famous (in an agrarian society) are capable of building mansions. In that type of society their streets are just feeder roads (maybe)-- thus heaven is pictured as filled with mansions and streets of gold.

I look forward to kneeling at His feet, free from the physical pain I now have in my legs. I also look forward to residing in His wonderful, perfect creation.

hmmm, interesting. i oftened wondered what it would be like if it snowed black, or blood was a powder-blue color.

I agree with you totally. But if there were any surroundings besides Jesus and all we will be reunited with, I'd prefer a blue sky with white clouds, bright sunshine, green full scented evergreens, etc. I don't need anything but all of the natural creation the Lord made for us. That's my happiness.
