Could someone please define what they mean by "new age".

Most of what people claim as "new" is actually very old.

The best way to reach a New Ager or anybody for that matter, is to use the techniques given in Way of the Master. Start with the law (10 Commandments) to show their sins and need for a savior, then move into the Gospel (Jesus taking their punishment on the cross), finish with telling them to repent (turn from) their sins and trust in Jesus the way a skydiver would a parachute.

First of all I hope he/she comes to their senses before it is too late.
Let them know New Age is way off base. Make sure you have your facts straight about New Age before discussing it with him/her. Study the subject and be able to hold your own. If you don't have your facts straight,he/she might be ble to out talk you and will not consider what you are saying.
New Ageis not a different "truth" it is an outright lie! I was into that for a while. I tore up all of the literature when I rededicated my life to Christ.

Virginia, everyone has to make their own decision. If it were my daughter I would, reluctantly, stop the relationship and pray for her. After all, the relationship is turned sour anyway. Maybe absence will make the heart grow fonder. St Paul had to hand people over to Satan to be taught a lesson. It is tough love. You don't have many options if she won't talk to you. Pray - it will work, you have to believe it. Pray in Jesus name to the Father. Of course it is according to His Will that she returns. Expect her to turn back, and wait hopefully. Meantime, you could witness to those who will listen to you. Hand out pamphlets and all the rest of it. Then some other person may reach your daughter.

Tell her about the New World Order. Tell her about the plans for a One World Religion. Tell her what is written in Revelation. Make sure you are full of the Word of God to quote to her. Hand her Chrsitian books (true stories). Make sure you know people who can speak to her from their own individual experiences all over the world. . . for God...this could be people witnessing on the internet. There are many ways.

I shall tell you what God said to me just the otherday, and, because of my curiosity, when I started clicking into a site who worships a fake god. And I quote Him,"you do not need to be dabbling in such things". I clicked off as if I had seen something dangerous as though it was fire.

All throughout history, institutional Christianity has been formed around the 'collection plate' and the self righteous puffed up ego of being a scholar/'study master' intellectual 'insider', and being an esoteric 'interpretation artist' (scripture should not be "interpreted", would you "interpret" a recipe?...UNDERSTAND the will of God, Ephesians 5:17).

If you choose to learn the "depths of God" (1 Corinthians 2:10) about our wonderful and beautiful, loving "Abba Father" (dear Father, Romans 8:15, Galatians 4:6, we shouldn't know Him as master/taskmaster) so that you are a "FRIEND of God" (James 2:23), then she will learn from you and someday return to the truth (John 14:6).

Traditional Christianity has a way of turning people off. People that would rather truly love the creator as their own spiritual Father (they have love in their heart AND mind, Romans 12:2) will find a TEXT based devotion to be disappointing.

Christianity defines itself as A FAITH (Christianity should be a LOVE). A Christian's faith should be borne out of LOVE.

As a woman, no doubt she wanted a very close, intimate love relationship with the creator (like the person at the well in John chap. 4 wanted something MORE, "living water", John 7:38, Rev. 7:16, it flowed from Christ's side at the cross).

The "hirelings" (John 10:13, modern day Pharisees) will be judged harshly for misleading the people.

The New Age philosophy is comfortable, it allows everyone to shape their own "truth" based on what they do and don't want to believe. Jesus is truth (John 14:6)

Jesus didn't give us the luxery to decide he was merely a prophet.

A great book that makes that case and forces you to decide EXACTLY who was Jesus was (liar lunatic or Lord; Chapter 2) is more than a carpenter by Josh Mcdowell.

I'd check it out, It's a great evangelical resource.

What did your friend turn FROM? If it is Christianity, then she knows the "real" truth, but is probably looking for a different "truth" that fits her lifestyle. There isn't much you can say to someone that doesn't want to listen. Just be a good Christian example for her to see.

Virginia,

Don't blame yourself at all. Your daughter didn't "turn out wrong" and you didn't raise her the wrong way. Many children raised in christianity turn away from it for a variety of reasons. No matter what religious differences exist, as her Mother, you can always reach her heart. Heart to Heart matters most.

Love her it is hard to argue/dismiss w/a smiling enemy. Jesus was a prophet. U can agree w/her on that but show her thru the word & your testimony he was much more then that. She can not argue/dismiss your personal testimony. Be patient I came out of the occult it took years but their testimony, truth covered in love wore me down so take hope! She is in New Age because she is hungry/searching that is actually a good thing she is just looking in the wrong place but she is looking.

Maxine, thanks for the book title about New Age. The greatest grief in my life is that my daughter is a New Age minister. Everything is God the Father, and yourself. I asked her what they did about the New Testament and she refuses to communicate with me about most anything now. I pray for forgiveness for whatever I did wrong in raising her that she is New Age.
---Virginia on 11/11/06

No! Saying there are many ways to Christ is NOT the truth. Here's the truth: Romans 5:16
There is nothing new about New Age. All they have done is taken pieces of non-Christians thoughts, threw in enough religious talk to make it sound good and called it, "New Age." (Jude 1:4) I'd make sure your friend knows this.

Linda, there is HOPE! I was immersed in the new age from age 13, until my salvation at age 27. Pray pray pray. Buy her a book called "Deceived by the New Age" by Will Baron, he was a new ager who found Jesus and this book led me to question my place in God's kingdom and led to my salvation. New Agers are closer to salvation than people think because they are actively seeking, just looking in the wrong direction. If I can be saved, your friend can too, Jesus wants her/him!
---Maxine on 7/19/05

If she is a friend be direct, the new Age is the old adage Jesus Christ the way The truth & the life.JUST one way as attested in the good book THE straight & Narrow all other roads lead to Perdition, You get one chance to salvation Dont Blow it.

What do you expect when for decades, the public school system teaches kids to be self serving, not God serving, even not allowing the kids now to serve God while on school premisis. American society is getting farther and farther away from God, even churches is putting more emphasis on carnality than they are on serving God!
---Pat on 7/16/05

New Age is self-serving-pantheistic; spiritual life centers on self-actualization and eastern religions. The self is the emphasis rather than God who is creator of all living things with His Son Jesus Christ, who is All in all; who died that we might live eternally IN Him, not reincarnated. He IS the Way, the Truth, and the life everlasting in His Kingdom, not nirvana. His Holy Spirit gives supernatural life to benefit mankind. All glory belongs to God not us. Only Christ can save us from ourselves!
---Elsie on 7/16/05

i'd tell her there truly are many roads in life, and many are lost on them, but according to the resurrected Jesus there is only one straight and narrow way that leads to eternal life in heaven. And Jesus also said that all other ways are false. i would let her read John 10:1-18.
---Eloy on 7/16/05

the only thing you can do , is to pray for her that she will know the truth and the truth shall set her free John 8:31-32 The 1. letter of John talks clearly about Jesus beeing the son of GOD 1.John 2:15-27 and 2.John 1:7-11 The Bibel speaks clearly, about Jesus beeing the son of GOD.Satan is the father of lies John 8:44-45

It's true you can't convince somebody who won't listen. But you can reason with her, try to ask her how it's possible for two things that flatly, completely contradict each other to both be true (like belief in reincarnation and belief in Christianity). New Agers are usually not big on reason- it's an emotional thing with them. If you can get her to logically THINK, she might realize she's believing nonsense.
