Often I Feel Like A Hypocrite

I often feel like a hypocrite. I want to do what is right, but I also love horror movies and get into arguments and I have too much pride, also I drink a lot. How do I change this?

You are in SPIRITUAL-WAR-FARE MY FRIEND.
It is written that:"my children are DESTROYED for the lack of knowledge".
Not knowing what to do.Losted and confused

battle.Solutions is needed,not how funny
the next joke is going to be.You don't know,you don't grow.You don't show your'll

Repent and believe the gospel and get a new heart by a work of God. Have you been born again? What is the fruit or evidence of this? If you love sin then this is a huge warning sign. Read Ezekiel 36. You cannot change your heart, only God can whereby he writes his desire on it and causes you to walk in his statutes.

Has the thought of deliverance ever crossed your mind?
You cannot serve two masters. You will hate the one and love the other.

Steve, Some changes take time. Always seek the Lord. Poor your heart out to Him. Learn of Him. Let Him love you. As you grow in your faith in Him and your love for Him, many of the things that seem to hold you will drop away. Tell the Lord you need His help. Also, look for a support group at church. Others who can help keep you acountable. You have to see it as wrong and want to change. Spend more time with Christians not alone.

steve, read and understand the new testament. jesus,s ministry took 3 years, and during that time the apostles had many hypocritical moments, and they were taught , and in the presence of God. FOR 3 YEARS.even afterwards jesus had to tell peter in a dream to feed my sheep, meaning he wanted peter to include the gentiles for salvation.change is slow, and deliberate so we will learn.humans are slow learners.

When you live by the Spirit you will not satisfy the desires of the flesh. Read the Word, spend time in worship and praise alone with the Lord, pray to Him and you will see that the flesh's desire will begin to die. Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind. What you give priority to will enslave you.

Confess your sin to God (1 John 1:9) as soon as it occurs. Make no excuses, and ask God to be with you in times of temptation.

It would also be helpful to have an accountability partner at church to whom you communicate your struggles. This will require humility, and will also help to grow you up in faith.

Draw a line with yourself and start looking inwardly to answer the questions of why: Identify the thinking and name the sin; recognizing your own behavior is the first step to changing it.

By asking us, your asking the wrong people. You need to find an alter somewhere. If you want to change, it starts with you. If you want to do what is right, then stop doing things that are wrong. You need God, bottom line, You will never change if you don't have him.

Steve. You've identified your weaknesses. Now pray 'for when I am weak then I am strong'2Cor 12;10 and 'let the weak say I am strong'Joel3;10.Spend more time with stronger brethren and share your struggles with them.Take up a serving ministry in your church/be involved in charitry and/or volunteer work-this will zap pride. Also have time to meditate on the word of God.My prayers for you brother! God is a God of love, and also of wisdom. There may be some people who could not handle having all their vices removed at once (some can, & there are reports of miracles happening with every vice taken away instantaneously), so God chips away at them a bit at a time...taking away the worst ones first, then working until He has molded that person just the way He want them. Be patient...God isn't through with you yet. You are a work in progress. Blessings.

in prayer, ask the Lord to help you to overcome all your sins. Sin is very very deadly and nothing to wink at, it nailed our precious Savior to the cross. When we get serious with God, then he gets serious with us and helps us to be more then an conquereror. God does not want people to perish in sin, but to be free from it and to live a victorious life in his presence. Strongholds can be broken through prayer, fasting, annointing with oil and laying on of hands, and speaking out the scriptures over them.
