Speaking in tongues so satan won't hear your prayers is wrong. It is not something you just do, it's a spiritual gift from God, not a learned thing. It does not matter is satan hears your prayers. I find when you go boldly (loudly sometimes) before God he often answers those prayers much faster.Put your faith in the Lord, not the enemy. Trust God loves you enough that if you are taking time to pray to Him he's got your covered. Give the enemy no thought. Follow Christ and you have nothing to worry about.

You may be chosen, but you are also frozen.
Anyone who gives satan that much control in your life will be frozen in fear of ever saying a prayer outloud. That will bring you into complete bondage and chains, worrying if the devil is listening to your prayers. And giving him so much of a leash, thinking he's perverting everything you're praying. Far too much credit and giving him too much place in your life.
---Mario on 7/30/07

Satan does not know the prayers in your heart. But have you ever tried to pray silently for long periods of time, you can lose your train of thought. Don't be worried about what the devil is listening in on, keep praying. God will deal with him.
---Mario on 7/30/07

1. Yes, satan can hear your prayers.
2. He hears your prayers for this simple reason, as your words are released into the atmosphere they are picked up by spirits. Be mindful that the way God works in us, through and around us, satan also does the same. So don't think satan comes in the form of evil and he doesn't know our heart because he has little spies out there waiting to suck your words out of the atmosphere and turn them into something other than what you meant them for.

Mod .. "Only God is omnipresent. Satan is a created being with limited abilities" I did NOT say God was omnipresent. I suggested though that seeing the scientific powers that WE have now, it is not unlikely that Satan's powers greatly exceed what we can do.

Moderator - God is omnipresent; it's Satan that is not.

I want satan to hear my prayers, that way he knows that he's defeated and where he has to go.If your prayer's are being answer satan is being defeated so pray loud with a lot of faith take the kingdom with violent prayer.

1cor2:12 tells us about the spirit of the world which is the spirit of Satan or anti-christ this is how he operates, Jesus told the jews that their father was the devil because they were of his spirit.Adam prophisied two seeds from Eve, the Son of God and the Son of perdition. thats why we must be born again
---Exzucuh on 4/9/06

Satan can only hear your prayers if said aloud. Satan cannot read your mind or your heart so by praying silently he's left to wonder.

Moderator - Satan isn't omnipresent.

No satan can't be every where at once but he has a hold lot of imp's thats every where.

Moderator - The imp's aren't everywhere either. Very few Christians are doing anything that would cause Satan the need to be watching us.
---Betty2 on 4/9/06

Mod you asked me "Please show the scriptures that state Satan is omnipresent" I had not actually said he was omnipresent, and I do ot have scriptures to show he is, and I wonder if you have scripture to show he isn't. But if we now have equipment to keep in touch worldwide and instantaneously (mobiles, computers etc) I am sure Satan's powers are greater than ours.

Moderator - Only God is omnipresent. Satan is a created being with limited abilities.
---alan8869_of_UK on 4/9/06

Satan can't read our mind but he can hear our prayers But he can't understand our prayers if we pray in tongue"s.

Moderator - How about Satan can't do any of the above because he isn't omnipresent.
---Betty on 4/9/06

I do not know what omnipresent is. I pretty much agree with Alan8869 though. Satan is a tricky thing but I belive the name Jesus has power (as well as Jesus) and satan is undoughty lessened by it. I wouldn't worry about it, your prayers are His and you are His and he'll always have the power over satan regardless.

Post Your Virtual Prayer Requests

Can the devil hear any of our prayers? I sometimes wonder if he can actually hear our prayers whether they are verbal or silent. If the devil can place thoughts in our heads then shouldn't he be able to know some of our thoughts as well(God willing)? Can the devil actually answer our prayers? God has promised us in Jeremiah 33:3 that He would answer us if we call upon Him.
---Kay on 4/8/06

He can't understand your prayers if you pray in tongues.
---dan on 3/11/06

Lilly,
In all things Christ is our example. He prayed out loud lots of times. Do not concern yourself with Satan or his abilities. 1 John 4:4, "Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world."
---Bruce5656 on 9/29/05

But that cannot hurt!
Our prayer to God cannot be interruspted or delayed, nor can whatever response God has for us.
So pray out loud or silently as you will. It does sometimes help to say it out loud, and when you have others praying with you it will be out loud.

I believe that Satan does know what we are doing, what our weaknesses are, and that he is constantly looking for ways of undermining our faith. I do not believe he is a physical human being limited to being at one place at a time. Although maybe he has his under-devils who do a lot of the work for him.
And so I believe that Satan knows all our thoughts, spoken or not, and so knows all our prayers to God

Moderator - Please show the scriptures that state Satan is omnipresent.
---alan8869_of_UK on 9/28/05

OK. So should we pray aloud or not? This has been bothering me for a while. I am worried that the enemy will delay my answer from God as he did for Daniel. Would you please be more specific in your comments? This would help me a lot.

Moderator - Of course pray out loud.
---Lily on 9/28/05

Yes, Satan COULD hear our verbal prayers if he is around at the time that we are praying. You see, Satan is not omnipresent like God is, which means he can only be in one place at one time. More than likely, Satan himself is not listening to us pray. There are demonic forces that Satan may use when he can't be somewhere though. But even they can't know the prayers of our heart. Only omniscient God can.
---Casey on 9/10/05

Actually, I hope Satan CAN hear my prayers. Then he will know how much I love God and how much I rebuke the devil. Just as God cannot look upon evil, I believe Satan cannot bear to look upon righteousness.

if you pray aloud, satan can hear you but he can't do anything about it. He already knows our weaknesses and that is what he plays mind games with us. He is slick.
---shira_5965 on 8/11/05

Patra, he may be able to hear our verbal prayer, but he can't know what is in the deep recesses of our heart. we don't even know all of that. If I have a very important prayer, I ask the Lord to make the enemy deaf and dump concerning my personal prayer to God. This doesn't mean that the enemy is stupid, he knows our habits, but when we throw him a curve we can be a step or two ahead of him. It works!
---John on 8/10/05

Yes he hears our prayers, but like an eavesdropper listening in on private conversations, it doesn't matter. And he knows some of what is in our heart, for out of the mouth the heart speaks: like runs with like, and he knows those who are not like him.
---Eloy on 8/10/05

The answer to the first question is yes but he cannot do anything about it becasue we are talking to our God.

No he he does not hear or know what is in the heart. There the holy spirit dwells and God is present.

Linda, We just started a Study on "The Power of a Praying Woman". One of the ladies commented that it seemed within days after she prayed about a specific area of her life, Satan would attack in that same area. She asked these questions of us.
---patra on 8/9/05

The answer to the first question is YES. The answer to the second question is NO.
---bebet3754 on 8/9/05

He can definitely hear prayers said outloud. He would like you to believe that he can read your mind. I believe he draws on his observance of man over the centuries and his watching every detail of a persons actions to create the illusion that he can read our mind. Personally I like to praise God outloud because I think it's twofold. Are you having a problem in this area?
---Linda on 8/9/05

Satan can hear our words but not our thoughts. He can not hear our hearts....he hears our words and so does the legion of evil since he is not omnipotent he can only be in one place at one time...but his evil army and spiritual warfare is everywhere.keep on your armor and follow Jesus he already is victorious

he could hear our prayers verbally.
That is why it is good to pray the word of God over them. Pray according to God's will, we know that we have what we have prayed for.

I don't think he knows the Christians heart in Prayers. he does not know what we pray for in the Spirit. Create in me a clean heart O" Lord....
God knows are heart, and the mind of our spirit.
I do not know of a Bible verse that says the devil knows too.
Satin, knows his own, just like God knows His!
---Linda3939 on 8/9/05

Satan only has the power to hear what God allows him to. What is more important is that God hears and answers every prayer of our heart.
---mike on 8/9/05
