I Want The Best Things In Life

Why some people seem to get the best things in life and some don't? Even when they believe in God with all their hearts, is it God unfair to his children? Does he have favorite children?

Read Psalms 73, written through Asaph. I hope that helps. God Bless!

This is a case of 'The Lord helps those who help themselves.'

A person who wants material things should finish trade school or college, get a good job based on that schooling, and work like the dickens after that. Postponing having children also helps.

Also, buy insurance so that any of life's tragedies are taken care of monetarily.

And NEVER buy anything on credit that isn't absolutely essential to living. What you'll spend on interest can go towards buying a better class of goods.

Jesus said I have come to give you abundant...possessions? happiness? No. It's Life.

God knows what's best for us, saying that He is being unfair is saying that God doesn't know what He's doing. God may choose poverty or riches, happiness or unhappiness for us, because in the end He knows what is best for us and we've got to trust Him. Don't conform to the spirit of this world that is idolatry and greed.

A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked.
For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: but the LORD upholdeth the righteous.
The LORD knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be forever.
Psalm 37:16-18

The best things in life are free.

Jesus came to set the captives free.

Your attitude needs to change from poor me who is wallowing in doubt.Renew your mind with the word. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. You get what you expect. Expect God to do great things for you. You are failing to see his everyday blessings. Start by being greatful for what he has already done. That is a good place to start.

i'm not talking bout material things, just simple things tha God works in other ppl's lives, lil things, lil miracles, i think he has a miracle for everyone but me.

All of the Lord's children are His favorites! If you have these questions about God's character, look in the word and start to write the truth of His incredibly abundant love for you on your heart (by meditating on the truth). We are co-heirs with Jesus! Jesus established a new covenant by His shed blood and broken body so that everyone could have abundant life available to them without preference. Try seeing Him as He says He is, rather than who you see Him to be.

Why do you want things on this earth? They will all pass away. It seems we are telling God we rather have things for 50 years instead on an eternity. Mark 4:19 is a good example.

2. Then Saul became very angry, for this saying displeased him; and he said, "They have ascribed to David ten thousands, but to me they have ascribed thousands. Now what more can he have but the kingdom?" And Saul looked at David with suspicion from that day on. Saul was jealous, and he was painfully aware that God's blessing on David's life paralledled his own demise. Dont' look at how great others have it, but how great you have it in Christ. All other things are meaningless.

If you have Christ, you have the best thing in life. let me tell you how you sound when you ask this question; "It happened as they were coming, when David returned from killing the Philistine, that the women came out of all the cities of Israel, singing and dancing to meet King Saul, with tambourines, with joy and with musical instruments. And the women sang as they played, and said, "Saul has slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands."

Claudia, sometimes we want things that really wouldn't be good for us if we had them. God knows this, and He always gives us in love the things that will draw us closer to Him. There are no exceptions to that. Thank Him every day for the blessings you have, instead of the ones you don't.
---Billy on 8/13/05

What do you think are the best things in life? Material things never bring satisfaction. Jesus said that His grace is sufficiant for us. Paul said that he was content in all things. Just be thankful for who you are in christ and your eternal reward. It took me a long time to realize this and I'm thankful for everything God gives me. Look at the people in the world who have it worse than you and the ones who are dying for the gospel. Praise Him in the good and bad times because He is God and He is good!

Where is your focus. The best things in my life in a saved family and things I can't touch. My treasures are in heaven. Of course we all have our little treasures in life that we pass down, but if you are saved, have children God gave you, grandchildren God gave you, you have everything. Do you go hungry? Do you have a roof over your head? Are you cool in summer and warm in winter? Do you have sufficient clothes? You are indeed fortunate.

To me I have the best in life, the gift of grace. I am blessed all around. My vehicle can break down and I would still be blessed. I think to many people are hung up on material things. the truth is, I don't own nothing in this life, God owns it all. If you have God you have the best there is.

This is the same basic "problem" that satan used to get Eve into her predicament; she let her eyes be drawn away from what she had in her relationship with God and started looking at what she was told she couldn't have. God gives us all much more than we deserve, yet, we never seem to be satisfied with that, we always want what we don't have.

We have eternal life, and unending love. What do we need on thise earth? God provides what we need, and that is enough. You will only be here a short while, do not fret about what you have, look for what you will have in Heaven sitting with Christ!
---zoe5647 on 8/10/05

No No No God's delay doesn't mean God's denial. He has no favorite. He knows our needs & He will provide in time. You turn is coming pray without ceasing.

Yes, the aged old problem. Scripture talks about desiring what other have, and also to be content with where we are in life. The harder we work for something, the sweeter it is when we obtain it. God also tells us not to set our affections on things in this life, but on heavenly things. Try setting your mind on what is really important.

The belief that getting/having more is the message of most of the Conservative Christians now days, especially with the current administration. That is the message of televangelists; Hagee, Meyer, Robinson, et al; is that god pours out financial blessings on those who do his their- will. Why are the non-churched like Trump are so successful? I try to live my life enough is as good as a banquet. I believe that God loves us all equally and there are no favorites among his children.

Yes, many are called but few are chosen, the children that obey him are the greatly beloved of God. Those which God loves the most are the ones that are tried the most. Consider all the holy prophets and saints of God, each had tremendous trials and hardships, even to martyrdom. If your life is smooth, then reevaluate the closeness of your relationship to the Lord: for all who live a godly life in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. How hard it is for a rich person to enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Sometimes what we call best things are NOT the best for us. Just over 7 yrs ago I had what I thought was a good life. Owned 2 homes and had a good career. Litterally overnight I was almost living on streets with child. God knew what I needed to bring me closer to him. NO, there are NO favorites. God gives us each what we NEED even if not what we WANT.
---Marla on 8/9/05

(Cont#2)I was also thinking before that God is playing favorites and I simply deslike the thought of it! After realizing my dreams through much difficulty, I realized that God has never played favorites among His children. Each one of us are given ALL THE POTENTIALS at conception. Each of us are equipped with the intellect to be able to achieve what we need to reach, to be able to live in the environment that God wants us to be!

I had the same question when I was younger! I thought that the best things in life are the material things that I could accumulate, the well-off friends that I could have, the degrees that I could achieve! But I realized that these are JUST VANITY! Although these "things" helped me in my day to day living, in the final analysis, these won't matter with the Lord. The best things that I hungered for, are not really the BEST THINGS that a child of God ought to possess!
