Where Is My Grandfather Today

What is the fate of my grandfather who died 40 years ago without knowing Jesus or hearing about the salvation through Jesus's name ? Will God who is love punish him just because of his ignorance of the way of salvation?

John 3:16-18, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."

My brother and friend, your grandfather could still be in the 4th dimension or back in this 3rd dimension. If he is in "hell" as some on here are telling you, then God is with him, because God is in "heaven" and "hell." Where is "heaven" or "hell"?

Jesus says in John 3:18 that "those who do not believe stand condemned already". All those who die without Christ will spend eternity in hell with the devil and his angels. God is loving, but He is also just. However, we do not know what happens in the last moments of a person's life.

Friend, since your grandfather didnt know Jesus, this is what Jesus said and many will come to Him and say Lord Lord, when did we not feed you, when did we not visit you, I tell you this day Jesus said, "I never knew you" In saying that, your grandfather may have been a merciful and generous and humble man, giving and forgiving and kind, and for that, God may look at that I pray.

Those who never heard the gospel are judged according to their lives whether they were righteous or wicked.

If he honestly NEVER heard the word of salvation (and I can't see that happening unless you're in the darkest jungles of Africa or the highest mountain peak in Asia), then he's judged by how he believed what he believed. But if he heard even one time, at Christmas, for example, and rejected Jesus and the gift of salvation, then I'm afraid he is damned for all eternity. But only God knows how his heart was at the very moment of death. You may see him in heaven, and that would be a most joyful occasion.

Our heavenly Father loves people and says He is not willing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance., 2Peter 3:9. Read Romans1. He has also made it possible for ALL men to know about Him. Trust your Father. We don't know really ever know what takes place in the heart of people even at death and our Father has promised" He will in no wise cast them out" who come to Him. Trust Him with what you don't know. Remember you could never love your grandfather as much as Jesus loves him.

I know how great it would be to hear that your grandfather will be "allowed" into heaven, though he died without Christ, but that is NOT what scripture teaches.Bruce referenced John 3:16-18. Unless mentally incapable of "knowing" ,then we are without excuse according to Romans chapter 1. Psalm 19:1&2 says, "The heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament shows His handiwork. Day unto day utters speech, night unto night shows knowledge."

If he hasn't heard of Jesus and how he can get saved, then God judges his heart. If he was a good man and he treated others good and with respect, didn't kill anyone or sleep around, God looks at his heart and judges that accordinly on how he lived his life. If he has heard of Jesus and didn't get saved, then he is in hell.

Samuelson, Could you tell us where he lived that he never heard about Jesus? Was he a Muslim? Romans 1:19ff. seems to imply that if anyone really wanted to believe in God, He would make salvation clear to them. I've also heard the testimony of a tribesman in Africa, from many decades ago, who one day realized that if all he saw around him was made by God, then God surely couldn't be a rock or a tree!! Because of that, I believe God sent a missionary to him with the truth about salvation in Jesus.

Patty, Paul covers this in the first couple of chapters of letter to the Romans. He tells us that no one is with out excuse.

How is it that your Grandfather, who presumably died a mature man, and 40 years ago, never heard the gospel? How do you know he did not?

I think that if we dwelt on where our unsaved deceased loved ones are now we would go insane. Those of us who believe what the bible has to say about hell have to just leave this with God and accept that He is just. The only thing we can do is to try to ensure that no other loved ones go the same way. We must show Christ's love through the way we live and trust that they will come to know Him through us.
