Where Does Joy Come From

Where does joy come from and how do you get it? I am constantly subdued and repressed. How can i rejoice as scripture reads, when God keeps me down, lowly, miserable and unfulfilled? Will God ever help, and must I always struggle and constantly beg him for help to the end?

Thank you Christy, My Jesus bless you. I am a natural giver, and I do my best, and my Almighty Lord Jesus does help me. He is a Good God, and he is Always Good. Thank you Jesus, for your mercy and your lovingkindness endures forever. Jesus Bless you Christy.

God is using this to strengthen you, if you will let Him. If you are prone to Satan's attacks, such as I am, then the answer may be YES.....God is faithful, your joy shall return.

The trick to getting through this phase of your Christian life is to stop looking at what hurts. My strategy is this, and it works for me. Remember Romans 8:28 and be willing to give up your personal happiness for right now - just trust God with it. Instead, seek out someone that you can help and try to ease their struggle and make them smile. Don't let yourself think about your troubles in the meantime, and focus only on helping others - as many as possible. In helping them, you help yourself. In making someone else smile, you find a smile that nothing can take away from you. It's a spiritual principle that when we give it away, we gain it for ourselves. Focus all your energy in trying to give joy to other people and you will have joy.

If you're a born-again, Holy Spirit filled Christian, Eloy... then what are you complaining about?

Ain't bein' saved enough reason for joy? That's what you should be on your knees praising God for... His salvation. If salvation isn't enough to give you joy, then I gotta wonder about that infilling of the Holy Spirit.

Maybe you should spend some time sharing the gift of God's grace with others. That is, if you have it. If not, then ain't it about time you got it?

Jesus said to Paul...

2Co 12:9 ...My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness...

It's about Jesus--not us, Eloy. If I were you, I'd be beggin' a little more often--for forgiveness.

John 15:11 "These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full. The day I was saved I was filled with joy. I still am! I thank God every day for the joy and peace I have which comes from our relationship and the knowledge of knowing that I am one of His children. Happiness comes and goes, but joy is everlasting. Every child of God has joy within in the person of the Holy Spirit. We just have to learn how to live each day in that joy. We can always think of something to be joyful about, no matter what the circumstances may be. Joy can be our strength and comfort during times of affliction. PRAISE GOD!

Frances~ I just noticed your post to me and I enjoyed it so much. Thank you for the kind and gracious words. I agree with you, this world is mostly about suffering and persecution, but the only true true joy exists in knowing that God is a righteous, steadfast, unwavering, perfect God who keep His promises and is full of grace and longsuffering.

I get persecuted by M.V., kath, etc all the time, but I have to stay steadfast to God's word and not bend. We should count it all joy when we suffer for the Lord, even though it seems grieveous in many ways. God bless you dear friend and thanks for the encouragement!

Eloy: Here! Here! I agree 100%!

Where does joy come? When people all around are insulting you, and your family reject and isolate you, the Holy Spirit is your friend. You should feel compassionate towards those who insult you and mistreat you, because they are going to be spending an eternity in the lake of fire. The Golden Rule is to treat others as you would like them to treat you. I would like others to be kind to me, but if they are unkind, I will rebuke them. After all, I don't want them being cast into the lake of fire if there is the faintest possiblity that they will repent from their actions. Perhaps the time for rebuking is about over, and we ought to hold our peace and let them rush downhill to their destruction. Just make sure you get out of their way.
---frances008 on 4/21/09

Eloy, I feel the same way as you. The wicked think they can defile the Temple and still go to Heaven. They defy the Holy Spirit, which is the Spirit of Truth, and they trample on those who tell the truth (the Temple of God). Mostly its not their fault because they were born into Satanic bloodlines, and they know they are headed to Hell in a handbasket. They just never think about their own death, believing that after life they will become gods, or some such New Age teaching, or be reincarnated as a seagull or an elephant, or perhaps as a better human being. It is the ancient sin of pride.
---frances008 on 4/21/09

Sue, Inspite of the antiChrist land, I still witness and am also ready to sue any ignoramous whom is foolish enough to unlawfully try to prohibit my freedom of speech and religion. I would really like to sue the pants off of every single antiChrist person in this country whom sinfully opposes the free gospel, and then take the wicked peoples monies from the lawsuits and give it all to the Christian Churches and to the poor.
---Eloy on 4/21/09

Here is another one: Trials and tribulations will always be as long as you are living on this earth. So, get use to them. God certainly can help. Stay faithful, till the end. And I promise you, heaven will be yours. No more trials and tribulations. That is the good news, my friend.++

NILA:-Happines is of your own Making. If you have God within you the joy emanates.Joy is being cheerful in accord with everyone and every thing that is Good.I believe Eloy looks at the obverse side of the coin.which leaves him to some looking, as a sourpuss, and others as a knight in shining armour "By their fruits you shall Know them"

Joy, is not something you can acquire yourself. Joy, is a gift from God. Reading your Bible, listening to Christian music and praising God, all leads to joy that comes from deep within your heart. Ask the Lord for His joy, and make sure that you don't let satan steal it from you. Satan is a thief and a robber, and everything good thing that God gives us, satan tries to take from us.
---nila5567 on 4/21/09

Eloy, come on..! Dont let polical correctedness stop you from saying Merry CHRISTmas! I say it all the time during the season and people say it back to me! Lighten up man, and quit thinking of all the bad stuff because this country has too much good.
---sue on 4/21/09

Hi Eloy, another thing to be happy about that I am thinking of is the day that we had just 3 weeks ago: EASTER! Why dont you write, draw, scroll or whatever a sign that says: Jesus Has Risen and put it where you can see it every day and really believe it. Maybe that will help you to be joyful.
---sue on 4/21/09

.steveng, It is indebted to appease God over men. Indeed I have the very mind of Christ Almighty which is not stifled, but powerfully charged to propagate. Moreover we the saints of the Most High God will not finish every city of Israel before thereupon come the Lord Jesus. And as I have told you before, until you get saved you will say and believe whatever you desire.

Eloy ... What you say about the USA is so sad.

In the UK the position is a bit different ... we don't have a constitution promising those freedoms, we just have them as a result of the development of the country and customs (there has in the past been religious discrimination, but that thankfully has passed)

But things are changing now! Laws are being introduced which in effect are anti-Christian.

Schools teach about other religions, (which is right if we are to understand those people) but we can't teach about Christ. Ramaddan & Dwali are celebrated in schools, but not Christmas or Easter.

Nurses can't offer prayer to those in their care, children are officially chastised for talking about Jesus.
---alan8566_of_UK on 4/21/09

Thank you for those loving words, Anne, my friend and sister-in-arms. There are people who say that happy people go to Heaven and unhappy people go to Hell. The Bible says nothing about striving after happiness. There is truth in the idea that being nice to people brings its own rewards, but sometimes being nice to someone just brings punishment. It's not how we are treated that matters, but how we treat others. (The Holy Spirit understands that we get offended and respond in a human way. Jesus went through it all before us. We have nothing to fear from Jesus if we love the truth.)
---frances008 on 4/20/09

Eloy: "...but now for the last two decades it sinfully censors and unwelcomes Christ and discriminates against the freedom of expressions of Jesus Christ and stifles us devout Christians from publicly exercising our faith freely at all times:..."

You stiffle your own christianity by thinking the way you do. It doesn't matter what country a person lives in - whether free or oppresive - a christian will be a christian. When we pray/talk to God, we do it in a closet anyway. When we give money, food, clothes, drink, etc. to the homeless and poor, we do it without conditions. God only cares what you have in your heart, not what society dictates.
---Steveng on 4/20/09

In realizing every day that you wake up... "This is the day that the Lord hath created. I shall purpose myself to be glad and rejoice in it". Period. I have the promise of eternal life. I am just a pilgrim on this earth, a visitor. My hope is in the promise of eternal life with my king, Jesus. And I will reign with Him in the New Jerusalem. Amen. These truths we hold to be self-evident. Shalom...

I live in the Unites States, a once renowned faithful Christian nation which supported the civil liberties based on the constituition honoring free speech and free religion without censorship, but now for the last two decades it sinfully censors and unwelcomes Christ and discriminates against the freedom of expressions of Jesus Christ and stifles us devout Christians from publicly exercising our faith freely at all times: For example, people here in America are immorally told by persons in authority that they are forbidden to say the name of Jesus in school and in public office and in their places of employment- happy holidays is ok: but Merry CHRIST-mas is not- but this is unlawful and a breaking the Constitution of the U.S.

This verse says it all

The JOY of the Lord is my strength!

Knowing Christ in you and His strength in you is beyond Joy unspeakable.

How do we learn His stength in us????

1 Peter 1:7-9
7That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

8Whom having not seen, ye love, in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:

Joy is one of the fruit of the Spirit...

" I am constantly subdued and repressed."
Eloy this will be your condition until you are delivered. May I suggest you seek out a deliverance Ministry ? It is not God that is keeping you subdued and repressed, it is either you or the enemy!!
---mima on 4/20/09

Joy comes when you are right with God. Nothing can take away that joy. All who have no joy need Christ. God can keep you down, move you to different places, but the Lord's love alway produces joy. A person is miserable, unfulfilled, because they never get what they want. They expect God to give them everything the reason they come to Christ. They think God owe's them. God promises many things to believers but the person's actions dictate what they get. Repentance by attrition involves remorse caused by fear of punishment or a loss of blessing. He was sorry not because he sinned, but because he has lost his birthright. They need a contrite heart which is godly repentance. It is genuine. It does not seek it's own.

Happiness and Joy are not quite the same thing. Good things make us happy. An attitude of faith and gratitude may make us happier.

But Jesus and His presence, gives us Joy. That's why the circumstances of life can make you unhappy...but in the midst of it, you can experience Joy!

It sounds crazy I know...I know of no other way to describe it. Maybe someone else who has experienced this can explain better than I.

YES, YOU MUST! God is not always this SWEET, LOVING, GOD, that the false preachers are always a preaching about. And some true preachers are always a preaching about. Don't want to start my Blood boiling here.

You need to read the entire book of Phillipians to begin with. But joy comes from knowing that you are right with God,In spite of, your shortcomings and failings. Believe the word of God with your whole being. Do not doubt. Understand you are not perfect and will make mistakes and bad choices along this christian journey. Be gin to do what the bible says you can do.You are an overcomer in Christ! You need knowledge/teaching,seems like, to me. Are you sure you have been born again also? Not just going to church and saying you are a Christian. There is a big difference.Pray and ask the Lord to leave this evil way of thinking behind. God loves you and wants to always bless you. Not hurt you. Blessings.

Frances~ That was a nice post you made to Eloy. I'm like you, I don't care if Eloy capitalizes my name or not, that seems like a petty issue. All I care about is if people are earnestly preaching the full truth of the Bible, and when I read Eloy's posts he teaches the Word in it's entirety. You teach like that too Frances, and that is why I respect you, and I respect the fact that you don't care if people harrass you for it or not.

I have been carefully studying the Bible for close to 30 years, and it is not the Bible that is so difficult to understand, but it is all the people who want to disregard vast portions of the Bible that I find so difficult to understand. It grieves my heart. God bless you good friend!

Eloy~ I'm glad you get fulfillment out of teaching here. It sounds like God has restored more joy and peace in your life. I know that God is the source of true joy and peace in your life.

Keep teaching and preaching, and I'm glad you're feeling more strengthened in the Lord. I pray that when people make accusations against you, that you won't take them personally, and I pray that you won't let them upset you. I just really don't like to see arguing going on on these blogs since it seems to bring no true edification. I pray that you won't revile in return when others revile you. Stay strong in the strength of the Lord, and fight the good fight to the end! God bless you and keep bringing inspiration!

I was tempted to write under a pseudonym, like so many demons do, but I will risk writing under my name. I tend to attract demons so please go ahead and punish me, you demons. What I wanted to say was that Eloy proves to be a true witnesss. Were the prophets ever treated nicely. No. It got to the point where they knew their message would not be received so they CHANGED THE MESSAGE. God allows prophets to preach false messages because people are too deceived to receive anything else. They cannot accept the truth. Carry on, Eloy. Whether you tell the truth, or (should it be necessary) whether you lie. God be with you.
---frances008 on 4/18/09

In fact, at this time I would tell all the prophets to stop telling the truth and to start telling the lies that people so want to hear. That way heads you win, tails you win. The people get what they want to hear, they go to hell, they are happy with what you have to say, and your life is happier because they leave you alone. Don't worry anymore about lying, because God knows that they won't receive the truth. Just lie and lead them all to hell. That is where they want to go I have heard them saying it straight out...'I want to go to hell where my friends are/where their are parties and sinning etc. is allowed Where there are no righteous people'. Let them have their desires. Just stop telling them the truth. Stop warning them.
---frances008 on 4/18/09

Anne, A-men. Inspite of the dissers that rise up against me because I preach the absolute Truth, I still get fullfillment sharing the gospel here on this sight. I am glad that my witness inspires you. If more people would open up to the Word, rather than rebel and hide in their darkness from it, they too would be inspired and changed more for their good: then they would see that the light which exposes their sin is not meant for them to vainly try to put the light out, but meant for them to come to the light and commune and glory with Jesus whom abides in the light and is the light, and he longs for those whom are in the darkness to leave the darkness and glory together with him.

You May all despise me for what I am about to say.But if it helps you then say a prayer of Thanks.Joy is a feeling contined within Yourself , based on your endeavours to fulfill your attempts at something your heart desires. It's like a Matador who conquers the bull in the bull ring.Marriage gives you that license to qualify, for that JOY but the resultant effect is your whole hearted endeavour.Wrestle with that Bull to conquer not by force but as Jesus said by LOVE.So Joy is within yourself of your OWN MAKING, so also is misery which is different from disappointment.Ever notice how a child is happy doing whatever? We should not blame the Almighty, for our mess ups.

The traditional teachings of "christianity" have ALWAYS taught that God is a REPRESSIVE God instead of a truly loving kind God. Many people have never had the ability to free their mind to learn the depths of God because of PRIDE (they just want to be "accomplished" scholars and have status/prestige) and others simply want to MAKE MONEY (moneychangers). That is why we have been taught that God is "repressive" and joy is elusive.
---more_excellent_way on 4/18/09

Eloy~ My heart went out to you when I read your deepest inner feelings you wrote on this blog. You've always been kind to me Eloy, and just remember there are friends like me in this world who are praying for you and are here to listen to you and care. I hope that gives you a spark of joy.

You know, this life here on earth is not meant to give us a great deal of joy, and Christians feel like 'strangers' in a foreign land here. I think the reason for that is so we'll always seek God with all our heart who alone can give us complete joy, peace, and hope in the amazing life to come. What excitement to think of that.

You inspire me a lot Eloy and I appreciate your friendship. I enjoy our honest talks. Keep sharing from the heart.
---Anne on 4/17/09

Joy is when you are content no matter what the situation.

But if we are to use scripture as its own reference, do an online KJV bible search for "joy" and learn how others expressed joy. Read the whole chapter to get the full understanding and wisdom.

Also do an online KJV bibles search for "one another," "each other," and "encourag," for living a christian life is a 24/7 lifestyle, not a once a week pep talk dished out by denominational "churches."

Eloy I believe you have to want to be happy to be happy. I too have had a tuff life. I've been reading/writing on these blogs for over 5 years but never wrote about the sad things that have happened: abused by male reletives when I was very small, father died when I was young, became a heroin addict for most of my life, my 19 yr. old son died when he was away at college, my sister (who was MORE than just my sister) passed away young too much sadness and death for one my age... I could go on and on and I'm sure lots of people have sad/bad things happen but you've got to kick the devil in the butt and wake up and decide you're gonna be happy. The devil likes us sad. God wants us happy. Fake being happy and you'll see one day you really will be.

Joy comes from knowing we have been forgiven by God first and foremost. When we think about how much we have been forgiven it should give you unspeakable joy from within yourself, not without. You should also feel joy from knowing that God loves you so much. Much more than mom, dad, spouse or anyone else in this world. You need to understand these truths. These are great truths of Christianity. You need a mentor or a more mature Christian to study and pray with you.You need the basic truth of Christianity.

Brother Eloy, Joy comes from knowing the Lord. I don't know how it happens but it happens. I have seen a lot of tragety in my family but I have never lost the joy. I don't know why but it is there. I wake up in the morning and I am so happy it is a new day and I look forward to what I can learn about God and it gives me so much pleasure and joy. I don't think that God wants us to be miserable but many times we are the cause of it.

Eloy, I know from past posts that you've had it rough. But I also know from the same posts that you do not see things as others see them.
When you disagreed you were short, and unreasonable to the point of absurdity. All that indicates possible below-the-surface problems.

The reason why you have no joy, is because you don't allow it to come into your life. You seem like you take everything serious. Jesus wants us to be happy, you need to losen up. Emcee, God does keep me down. Remember when John the baptist, the greatest prophet who even baptized Christ, proclaiming Jesus was the Lamb of God, when he was in prison, he sent the disciples to Jesus asking, "Are you the one, or should we seek another?" In other words, if you're the Savior, then why are you not saving me from this prison? And we all know that Jesus did not save him, but instead he kept him in prison, and eventually John even had his head chopped off and presented on a platter.

Thank you brother Eloy for your email. I will respond to you by my other address. One thing that I have learned is why God fills our lives with troubles and perplexities is, many times to ensure that we shall learn to hold Him fast. The reason why the Bible spends so much of its time reiterating that God is a strong rock, a firm defence, and a sure refuge and help for the weak, is that God spends so much of His time bringing home to us that we are weak, both mentally and morally,

God doesn't keep you down. You do this. Alot of times we bring things on ourselves by speaking negative things. If we say this is going to be a bad day, chances it will be a bad day. If you say today is going to be a great day, and keep saying that, you will have a great day. We all need to speak things as though they already are. Joy comes from God. Ecc 2:24. Joy is a fruit of the spirit, Gal 5:22. Read Jn 16:24, Jn, 15:11, 16:24, Php 2:2, 2 Jn 1:12. I hope these help.

Joy comes from the Holy Spirit. About 2 hours before I got baptised in water, a strong brother in the Lord anointed me with oil and prayed with me and the woman who brought me to the Lord prayed over me. All of a sudden I started to laugh and felt very high. I appoligized for laughing. This brother told me that it's all right, that is the joy of the Lord. I was on a three day high. It can come in other ways also. We can walk in joy every day. The joy of the Lord is our strength!
