Church Clubhouse Mentality

I have noticed that the majority of churches in my area have this "clubhouse mentality", meaning if you don't come to our church or stay with our church you are lost, fallen away, and so on. What is wrong with God's people?

I don't understand your question, fully. But we are to support our church, pastor and other members in the church. Is that what you mean by clubhouse mentality? We are free to give to other ministries and support other minstries but our main focus should be our own church and everything that it stand for.We should stand united on every front,if possible. It shows unity and love but we are free to visit other churches and help elsewhere that we choose.

Not properly discerning the body of the Lord Jesus, which leads to pride. Usually you hear more about the denomination and its doctrines than you do about Jesus. That's a warning sign.

In my opinion, those who act like that are judgmental. As Christians, we are not to judge others. That is God's job. We are to love one another and love and pray for our enemies. I am surrounded by a lot of family and friends who do not obey God's laws, yet I do not judge them. I know the things they are doing are wrong, but I love them, pray for them and try to be an example to them. That is what all Christian should do. That is what Jesus did.

God bless.

In colonial America many of the churches had boxed pews, and families owned the pew space and you had to be invited or given permission as a visitor to sit in some ones pew space. When churches wanted to raise money one of the methods was to re-subscribe the pew space. I guess the modern counter part wound to re-scribe the spaces in the parking lot.

They need to find a REAL church, and join a Country Club if they're there just to socialize!
As Eloy says, these are not God's people, they're just playing church.

Cana: Not everyone in the enumerable church-houses are in the Church (Body of Christ). Many have joined themselves to a particular denomination, persuasion, traditon, etc., but haven't been born again. Pray for their salvation.

They are not God's people.

I have been a visitor in several churches where I have been told 'that is Mrs......'s seat'. How unChristian and what a terrible witness to visitors. I have my favourite seat in church but would never object if someone else sat there. I agree, it is a clubhouse mentality and is wrong and, as the original question states, so is the belief that you can only be a real Christian in THIS church.

the problem is not the true christians it's the Pharisees of today that Jesus warned us about

They took God out of their church. All they have is bench warmers who gives dirty looks if you sit in their pew. God's people don't act that way. I don't know who they claim to serve but it surely isn't the God I know.

What is wrong with people is, that people prefer a feel good theology and are only looking for churches that make them feel good. So the pastors strive to keep numbers up because of their vanity and people take whatever someone tells them without backing it up with scriptures or looking to see what the scriptures have to say for them self.
