Will Pets Be In Heaven

I do not think the bible is specific about animals and heaven. Do you think it is possible that our beloved pets that we love and lose might go to heaven? I have been told that our pets have no sin, therefore they would inhabit the new earth for eternity.Just wanted to get some feedback. Thanks.

If in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth and it was "Good," then if God, according to Revelation is going to create a new heaven and new earth why would God leave out that which was good in the first place. Jesus said the birds of the air do not land without your heavenly Father knowing about it. If God is that concerned about animals, then I am convinced that there will be animals of all kinds on the new earth.

If we go with the theory that the new heaven and new earth will only be filled with people with souls/spirits, then what about trees, flowers, grass, etc.? A new creation, a good creation will be like God's original and therefore will and must have animals.
---Curt on 12/15/09

Check out Genesis 9:5. God is speaking: "I will surely demand an accounting from every animal. And from each man, too, I will demand an accounting for the life of his fellow man." Why would God demand an accounting from animals if they don't go to heaven?

Genesis 9:9 - God says "I now establish my covenant with you and with your descendants after you and with every living creature that was with you." The covenant was for both animals and man.

Ecclesiastes 3:18-21 says that man's fate is like that of the animals-both die and both return to dust. vs 21: "Who knows if the spirit of man rises upward and if the spirit of the animal goes down into the earth?" Sounds to me like no one knows for sure.

Perhaps the answer to this question can be found in Revelation 21:5,"And he that sat upon the throne said, BEHOLD,I MAKE ALL THINGS NEW. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.

Reminds me of the kid whose whose sick and elderly dog had to be put down.

Mom tried to soften the blow by explaining how in "doggie heaven" Fido would be able to run and play and chase sguirrels again, as he used to do. He would be very happy.

The youngster didn't seem to be very much comforted. In fact, he seemed perplexed. "Mom," he asked finally, "does that mean that 'doggy heaven' is actually the same as 'squirrel hell'?" :)

I'm an unrepentant animal lover...(with the possible exception of reptiles!) I've had countless dogs, cats and horses that I loved like children. I, too, believe God cares for animals and that He gives us pets to meet needs that other humans, in their complexity, can't meet.

But when I enter Heaven, I will be a different person. I will have no need for anything but Jesus. I now miss the pets that I no longer have, but I'm convinced that in Heaven I will miss them no longer.

Dogs, cats, mice, spiders, and earth worms alike were made by God in his creation. There has been plenty of versus' in the bible that have stated that God will save all of his creations. So how can you believe that animals arent apart of that? We all have a soul and spirit that are different from our earthly bodies and when we die our bodies remain here under ground while our soul and spirt return to heaven. Just because an earthworm or a dog has a different earlthy appearance does not mean that they dont have the same kind of souls that we possess. Of course we will never know the answer to this question until we are in heaven ourselves but i have faith in God and believe that he saves all of his creatures no matter the size.

I just had a bizarre thought - if animals DO go to heaven, there will be a LOT of chickens that once belonged to the Colonel, and cows that once belonged ot Ronald McDonald!
---StrongAxe on 4/18/08

Yes absolutely there will be animals in heaven... the animals were created before man even was..God loves His animals...He comes riding a white horse when He comes back.. He was born in a manger with the animals.. He gives you the desires of your heart... He is an artist.. just think of all the animals He created..
---bonna6566 on 4/17/08

A pleasant thought ... but as our pets have no sin, presumably no animals have sin ... so there will be all the rats that have ever lived, and crocodiles.
Most here will I suspect say that animals have no soul, so cannot transfer to heaven.
On the other hand, God is greater than we can possibly understand, and He does some pretty illogical things ... so why not
It will be interesting to read what others say.

The bible doesnt say but, it DOES say the only way to get to heaven is through Jesus, a animal cant repent. OR PRAY. but then little babies cant either . the bible doesnt say other then the Lion will lay down with the lamb, but that can be symbolic. you said animals dont sin, well , isnt everything borned into sin so that makes them sinful. I think God only provided animals as companions for humans, here on earth.
---Jan4876 on 7/31/07

With the fall of man, the animal kingdom and man had a falling out, too. Animals began to turn on man. Bears, lions, tigers, sharks, snakes, insects, etc.
The Bible says that one day the wolf and the lamb shall feed together, the lion shall eat straw like the ox . . . They shall not hurt or destroy on all my holy mountain, says the Lord" (Isaiah 65:21-25,).
---Raine on 3/19/07

God told Noah about providing for the animal kingdom on the ark.
Do you really think that all the animals will be removed from the Kingdom of Heaven and the Kingdom of God? I don't believe Noah and his family were eating those animals on the ark. God preserved them for a reason besides eating. They are part of His creation. The Bible is not clear, but I don't believe He will destroy the animal kingdom. I believe it will be restored, the way God intended it to be before the fall of man.

We really won't know until we see it with our own eyes, will we?
Rev. 7:11
And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God...
The Bible is not clear if we will ever see our pets or the animal kingdom again in heaven. But it doesn't say animals will not be there, either.
---Raine on 3/19/07

I watched the N.G. Channel about the Galapagos Isands. The wildlife, fishes, birds, reptiles were spectacular. Without all the people crowding them out of their habitats, they manage very well together. It looked like heaven on earth. The animal kingdom is a reflection of God.
---Raine on 3/19/07

I believe that I shall be the only animal ( I don't like that word!) in heaven. Recall how at one time cats were worshipped? I don't expect nor want worship, however I want everyone petting me and playing with me! I love shiny ribbons and chasing wads of paper, celephane preferably. Please give me PLENTY of time to sleep after my brushing, I require a lot of rest. Is there Catnip in heaven? TY, I must go its nap time.

To the three great judgments of war, famine, and PESTILENCE.Here added the beasts of the earth, another of God's sore judgments. Don't be stupid like horses and mules that must be led with ropes to make them obey. [A good one about Animals. ]Another one.== When your Father said the speckled sheep would be my wages, all of them were speckled. I donot see how you can believe pets are going to Heaven. SPIRIT===called inner Man.
---catherine on 2/21/07

The Bible was written for sinful man who needs to be Saved from the wrath to come. The animals never sinned....duh.
There is no provision written for animals that say they go to heaven or that they don't. One thing for sure, they are not in need of a Saviour but mankind is.
It is juvenile to focus on such an issue when people are going to Hell. Focus on Christ, learn of Him.
The Bible indicates there are horses in Heaven. (I think there is one cow and Bruce and Dory are going to eat it....lol.)

People make me laugh sometimes. They say, No animals, plants etc are in God's kingdom. That is like saying they are not here either. Wake up and smell the coffee. Unless you think you will float on clouds, wearing robes playing harps all day. That is not eternal life. I love nature and animals around me and if I make it, that is how I want to spend eternity. Seeing the beauties of nature around me. Unless you want to live in a moon like state. dead of all life.

DoryLory,
Point taken. I'll meet you in Heaven at the banqueting table over a nice juicy steak! You bring the vegies.

PART ONE:
DoryLory,
Eden was not "Heaven on earth" other than in the poetic sense of the word. Earth is not/never was Heaven.

Eden/creation/man were made for God's pleasure. (Rev. 4:11) I have no problem with the idea that God may have plants and animals in heaven. After all, we are told told there will be a new heaven and a new earth.(Rev 21:1)

What I do not accept is that that animals and plants have an eternal soul. There is nothing to support this in scripture.
---Bruce5656 on 2/20/07

PART TWO:

No one that has ever said that pets will be in heaven seems prepared to state just what the criteria for entrance into heaven for animals and (plants???) is.
---Bruce5656 on 2/20/07

Bruce - Re: Why do we not preach to every "creature"?

Because the animals are already saved! (Sorry, I'm teasing you.)

Look, Bruce, I think you are taking this subject more seriously than I am willing to. You're demanding that I prove my opinion while neglecting to do the same for yours. You haven't provided Scripture to prove that animals won't be in heaven. Since the Bible is evasive about this subject all we can do is give our opinions and have fun with it.

Bruce - P.S.: Another reason I believe animals will be in heaven is because they were in the Garden of Eden ... which was heaven on earth.
---DoryLory on 2/20/07

PART ONE:
DoryLory,
Are you avoiding my question? If Romans 8:21 means animals go to heaven, then what about Mark 16:15? Why do we not preach to every "creature"?

You say animals have souls. Would that be even every living single cell animal? At what level of the animal kingdom does the possession of a soul end?
---Bruce5656 on 2/20/07

PART TWO:
You use Eccl 3:21 to support your view. Eccl. is written by a man disillusioned with life. The context of 3:21 is an explanation as to how man has no advantage over the beast in life or death. Their end is the same. Not that the beast "goes to heaven" but conversely that man just dies like an animal just dies.
---Bruce5656 on 2/20/07

PART THREE:
It is for this reason he concludes that we s should "should rejoice in his own works; for that is his portion". No rewards, no after life just the here and now.

PART FOUR:
To base thelogy on anything the author says is risky business. If we were to do that we would all live for the pleasures of today and forget about tomorrow 9:4-7 If we based our theology on his musings, we would learn that death is the end of existence the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward (9:5)
---Bruce5656 on 2/20/07

PART FIVE:
The passage you quote is a question. "Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth?" He is questioning how anyone can think that they might know what happens in the after life. As I noted already, his conclusion is that man is no better off than the beast in that regard. This is not a theological statement as to whether or not animals have souls as we do.
---Bruce5656 on 2/20/07

Bruce - If God draws the line & allows certain created beings into heaven but not others, I'm not about to speculate on which are and which aren't allowed in. My personal feeling is that they probably ALL get in ... perhaps even plants (however do plants have a soul and a spirit?) But it's just my feeling. Does the Bible indicate the actual size of heaven? I only recall the dimensions of the City. Why is it too difficult to imagine that an all knowing God would provide for animals in the after life?
---DoryLory on 2/20/07

all you need to know is that we will have everything we need. but you will probably not be you in the afterlife. it takes 2 to tango. pets dont go to "heaven" because pets havnt made it to the end yet.

Dave,
Help me out here. I don't see anything in Gen 1-3 that indicates animals prexisted in heaven before being put on earth. Please be more specific.

Anyone who insists animals go to heaven should be able to explain which animals. If you are so convinced that animals go to heaven than please answer my question.

Are you taliking about every animal that ever lived? Right down to every microbe? If not microbes where is the line drawn? What about plants?
---BRUCE5656 on 2/19/07

Bruce, based on Romans 8:21; based on the fact that animals have a soul (mind, will, and emotions); and a spirit (Eccl. 3:21); based on the fact that God is a loving, kind Father; based on the fact that nothing is impossible with God ... I just choose to believe. My decision is not based on emotionalism, it is based on what makes sense to me regarding a subject that is Biblically somewhat evasive.

It astounds me that people can be so narrow minded. What is your version of living with God. sit around all day playing harps and singing. NOT. you do not see any animals, NOT. people are the only things in God's kingdom, NOT. all things were created spiritually before placed on the earth, All things! read genesis 1-3. it would be pretty boring only seeing people. animals have spirits too, do they not breathe the air we breathe, do they not live and die too. to think only people will survive is so naive.

Pets have just a body and a soul (mind, will, emotions), but NO spirit. People have a body, soul (mind, will, emotions), and a spirit. Only things with spirits can enter into Heaven or Hell. Pets do NOT have spirits and therefore just die, and do not go to Heaven or Hell. A spirit is God's breath of life. God spoke animals into existance, but He formed people with His hands and breathed His breath into them.

I can't believe this question is still circulating!

Since animals are created beings, then according to Romans 8:21, they will be in heaven. The word translated "creation" also means "creature" according to Strongs. One translation says: "That all living things will be made free from the power of death and will have a part with the free children of God in glory." (Romans 8:21 BBE)

I do know God provided them in our house to show unconditional love, patience, loyalty, and unending fun & companionship. Some people's lives don't have any of those qualities. Thank you, Lord, for pets.

Animals, kind as they are, are not made with souls to save in the way that people are.
Remember the story about the woman who had seven husbands -- who will be her husband in heaven? There will be no marriage in heaven. This seems hard to believe but somehow God runs things differently than we expect and what we miss on earth we will not miss in heaven. When we reach heaven, God will run things his own way. Our love is just not enough but God's love, plan and concern are.

This question was asked a few months ago. Even though the Bible is somewhat evasive about the subject, I still believe animals will be in heaven simply because animals are part of "creation."

"For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope; because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God." (Romans 8:20,21)

From the Internet:
The Bible teaches that "all flesh shall see the salvation of God" (Lk.3:6) & that "all the living things in creation - will praise Yahweh & the Lamb" (Rev.5:13). God's care & love extends to even the humble sparrow (Lk.12:6) & He has promised that He will restore all living things (Ac.3:21; Eph.1:10). The whole creation will be renewed (Rev.21:4-5). The resurrection will affect all celestial (heavenly) creatures & all terrestrial (earthly) ones (1 Cor.15:35-42).
