I Feel Lost And Useless

I feel lost and useless. I am very active in church in every aspect fundraisers, singing, nursery, youth but I have a void that God won't fill. I want more out of life not physically but spiritually and I just feel useless and like I don't fit in or belong. Am I the only one like this?

What's your motive for being so busy that you don't have time out with God? Don't fill up every minute of your time with church activites, church service, studying the Bible, friends, ipods, computers, work, school, prayers at church(not the same as in the following paragraph), shopping, entertainment, etc.

Find a quiet place to be alone with God - a mountaintop, in the middle of a meadow or desert. Acknowledge him at first. Then talk with him as though he was standing right next to you as you would with a close friend. Talk about your concerns, your burdons, what made you happy that day. Talk about things you would write in your personal journal. Sooner or later you will begin to hear and recognize the small voice of God.

It seems we may share the same dilemma im at a place where im lacking spiritual growth but im not willing or able to change and do what i need to do to get my life on track. Meanwhile everyone else is happy doing whatever they want but im not fulfilled doing so as they are. Its been taking a toll on me for some time now lots of stressing its no fun yet I continue doing my own thing.

My humble opinion would be to participate in the mentioned activities b/c you want to, not b/c of how you think it will make you feel. Each action is without expectations. Start from the beginning and ask yourself these questions...Am I making the difference that I want to be making? Is there another way that my unique talents can make a difference?
You are your own person, the answer to fulfillment is not mass produced, it is your own interpretation. The church provides excellent guidelines...helping people and giving back to the community. However, to find your own satisfaction you need to define your own involvement...don't just go through the motions. Have a personal connection to your volunteer work...define your own fulfillment.

These bloggers make a lot of great points, such as: Minimal rest, Time to insure your growth, or you need to cut back, Make sure you are keeping up healthy habits, such as sleep, food, and exercise. But more importantly: PURPOSE! Without a vision, the people p-r-sh. Here's a thought worth considering: Perhaps, God is preparing you for a personal revival. Times of discouragement and guilt often come before the times of renewal.

Yes, Satan is trying to wear you down. Pray and prune. Satan is a liar, you are taking so much because you are believing this lie. Remember God was mindful when He created you. Cut down and be okay with it. :0)

You feel empty because you're spiritually dry. Your spirit can only be quikened/alive if u have God in your life since God is spirit. The reason why you're feeling 'dry' because God has withdrawn himself from you. Many reasons. Possibly sin. or maybe you're doing smtg that God isn't too pleased with. or maybe charity work isn't your calling. So u should Fast & Pray to God, the Creator of men and seek for His guidance.

Have you recieved the HOLY GHOST since you believed?Think about your words here---- God WILL fill the void.Repent,be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, and ye shall and ye shall recieve the GIFT of the Holy Ghost. For this promise is unto YOU and to your children, and to all that are afar off.Even as many as the Lord our God shall call!!! I felt that way at one time also. not now .

Well, you may not be the only one like that. In any case, it is extrememly important to spend time with God everyday. Not the same as working for Him. Also, if God is in it you should feel joyful and ful-filled. May not be your main calling in life, that will come later.

Part of the problem of allowing the cares of this life to be as the soil of thorns is that when it is allowed to go on too long it will gradually draw you away from the Lord.
He was crucified with a crown of thorns.
Many allow the cares of this life to continually be placed "higher" on their list of priorities.
Many end up re-crucifying Him to themselves and don't see it.
Many churches already have and teach their flocks to do likewise in unawares.
---Frank on 12/14/07

I agree with the moderator.
Sometimes people are so active in church that they make a god out of it in unawares.
It becomes as the seed cast on the soil of brambles among the thorns and is strangled.
---Frank on 12/14/07

I agree with Wes, i think that you just need to take more time for your personal life with God. I think that what ur doing is awesome but if you neglect God it doesn't matter much. I wish you the best of luck.
---Lisa on 12/14/07

You are probably not the only one. And it is a temptation to get so caught up with working for God we forget to serve God. Just like the moderator and wes 913 said, [when you are right you are right] "You must spend lots of time with God". And spending time with God is truly serving God. And it's FUN. If you are like me, I have to get lots of rest, staring at God right in the face when I lay down, yea.

You are doing great things for the Lord, but don't get so busy that you neglect your personal time with him! Spend time in prayer or meditation. Take some time off and just get into his presence. Just you and him.
---wes913 on 4/26/07

dear, you are doing too much for everyone else except for yourself. you have taken on too much. share the duties around with others. YOU MUST TAKE TIME OUt FOR YOURSELF AT TIMES. God wants a well refreshed disciple every sabbath or when your on the field for Him. Do take time out.

Generational curse... lol.
---Shane on 4/18/06

You might have some unforgiveness in your heart, or maybe a generational curse pasted down to you, that you are unaware of. Keeping you from receiving your full blessing from God. Do some soul searching and family research.

I think the key is knowing your gifts as they relate to your indivdualized purpose. It's not enough to just do things for God. You will experience burnout. Find out what you are naturally gifted at doing and concentrate on doing these things as they relate to the destiny God has put inside of you.

This is the way the enemy attacks one:they say the more that you mix the ingredients in a cake it turns out better.Get more involved.Dont feel inadequate that is a condition of the mind which the enemy finds as fertile ground. God be with you.Are you impatient?all good things come to those who wait.

If Jesus is your salvation, you can't be lost and you don't have to be useless. Your free in Christ especially if you have an ongoing relationship with your heavenly father! Start by praising Him and do it EVERY day.

Start giving more favor to people ... anyone, even people you don't know. Have you ever heard of Random-Acts-of-Kindness? My favorite saying is: The best way to cheer yourself up, is to cheer up someone else. Pray and ask God to show you opportunities where you can bless others. It doesn't have to anything big ... even a small favor will leave you feeling better about yourself.

This is how Satan wants you to feel. He makes you feel like your not worth anything. It is hard to seek God when your feeling like this. but hold tight and stand on his word. Joy is coming in the morning.

Quickest way out of your dilemma is; PRAYING for someone else.I personally like to pray for someone i know to be saved. The reason I pick out someone I know is so I will know when my prayer is answered. I once prayed for 10 years for a person I worked with and then( praise be to God )Randy called me up and said I just got up off my knees from asking the Lord Jesus Christ to come into my life.I was so happy.---mima 11/4/2005

Sometimes we all go through times when we are in a "desert" of life. We have become so busy with what we think is doing the Lord's work that we don't make time to just be with Him and worship Him and become closer to Him. Take a couple of weeks off from all these activities that have been keeping you so busy and read the Bible, pray and fast. You will find that your mind and body is renewed.

I have felt the very same way lately. I don't know if it's the meds. that I am on or what. One person in our church said she felt the same way when she was on pain meds. There is a lot that I am unable to do and feel left out many times when things are going on also have felt that God hasn't been around lately as well. I pray every day and have even started going to womens bible study, and everything.

You are doing "things"but are you doing the Ministry you are called of God to fullfill. The void may be God showing you ,you aren't where He wants you to be.Don't do anything unless led of God .Cut back on jobs ,and pray, read your Bible, and it's good to fast some too until you know exactly what God has called you to do for Him and His Kingdom.Praise God,have your own praise song and prayer service by yourself.Get alone time with God.Seek His will.Too busy takes you away from God not nearer.

I was in your shoes a couple of years ago. I was involved in everything and looking for more of Him. However, I burned out. I quit just about everything in order to regroup and rethink. I have a feeling you're feeling more used and unappreciated and that's placing a void in your life.
