God Blessing Are Spiritual

I believe all God's blessings are Spiritual, not physical or material. This supports "God is not partial" and being created equal. I believe the Lord's Prayer (Matt. 6:9-13) supports it. Eliminates "God likes me better because I have more stuff." Any disagree?

"God likes me better because I have more stuff." Are there actually Christians who believe that statement? I'm stunned and virtually speechless.

Moderator - Yes, that is the Word of Faith or Charismatic doctrine. Not that God likes them more, but that God has found more favor or faith in them.

Yes I disagree. My health is a blessing, my family. It is a blessing to have a roof over my head, food on my table, clothes on my back. Blessing are not just spiritual, everything from God is a blessing.
---Rebecca_D on 8/31/07

Of course I disagree! If all of God's blessings were spiritual, not physical or material, then why did God favor ancient Israel; why did He take them out of slavery and give them land; why did Jesus and other men of God heal people; and why does God want us to prosper and be in health (3 John 2)?

I agree that God is no respecter of persons, even if they have more stuff, but I know of no scripture that says "God is not partial".

Disagree..I have 7 blessings from God and they are all physical. Six daughters and one son.
---Lynn_Bedford77 on 12/26/05

Geraldine: God doesn't curse these people. There are many reasons as to why some things happen to people. but they are still blessed. I lost my mom almost 5 yrs ago, I am still blessed because of knowing her. It is a blessing to be able to walk and not confound in a wheelchair. Everything I have is a blessing in my life. The troubles I go through, isn't a blessing but the outcome is.

Geraldine, do you think that because Matt 22:16 says, "... neither carest thou for any {man}: for thou regardest not the person of men.", that has to be true? Remember, it was the Pharisees who said that! In Matt 9:34 they said, "He casteth out devils through the prince of the devils." Is that also true?

The key to understanding that verse is in the context. Matt 22:18 says, "But Jesus perceived their wickedness ..."

3. I believe people miss the point that God is the Creator of everything and He is in control of everything. His decisions are final and holy even when we think they are not. We can count on Him because we have the confidence that all things work for good to those who love Him. Even when we think they are wrongly answered, in the end they will be right in the sight of God. He is sovereign and Lord of Heaven and earth and no one can question why He does things a certain way or not.

2. God works are not for our understanding. If we could understand all it takes to complete a plan we would see why He does certain things the way He does. The apostles passed many cities and didn't bring the gospel to them, He has blessed many nations with the gospel where others don't hear the word of God. Prayers are answered by providence to whom God sees fit to do, It is His will that will be done. Many of our gifts are physical not only spiritual.
---Lupe2618 on 11/22/05

Jerry, there is no scripture that states that God is not partial but all you have to do is read Scripture to see that He is unequal with mankind. He did choose Israel instead of other nations, they were just as bad as the others, He choose many man instead of others through Scripture. God knows the time the place and the person for whom He wants when He wants. He choose Jacob instead Isau. Even when his father was deceived. Look at Paul, a murderer that God choose.
---Lupe2618 on 11/22/05

YES, God's blessings are spiritual! God is Spirit, He does all in spiritual ways. His blessings, spiritual blessings get to us in physical forms to be usefull to us, because we are human beings!
Be blessed!

I agree God is not partial. He says He will bless everyone who obeys Him and turns His face from the wicked.Matt 6 shows that if we will seek His kingdom first that we will have no worry about what we will eat or what we will wear. Those are physical blessings. All through the Bible we see God blessing people physically amd materially.Ps.41 gives physical blessings to those who help the poor. I agree that spiritual blessings are more important but I wouldn't refuse any material or physical ones either.

That is an interesting thought Geraldine.
It would sure help the self esteem if one believed as you do. The physical and material could be because of decisions we or our parents made.

Your logic is flawed. It has nothing to do with how much God loves us, but what we do with the talents He has given.(Matthew 25:15-25) Some don't have more, not because God loves them less, but because they didn't use the talent(s) God gave them. "Satisfaction" is the reward in using your talent correctly, not "stuff".

god blesses with all sorts of things but i have learned from first hand experience that just because you obey him by giving tithes and offerings he won't necessarily give you money back as a blessing. the widow who gave her last 2 coins didn't start giving that day. she came to nothing financially but had been faithful.

Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness: and all these things shall be added unto you.
God is no respecter of persons. Acts 10:34 Peter said this when he was sent to Cornelius, who was not a Jew.
God can bless people with faith, wealth, and health. He did this with Abraham and Solomon.
Philippians 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ.

I agree with Rebecca_D.

Now the bible tells us that God is the same yesterday, today and forever. I do believe that God is partial. I also believe when we set ourselves apart for God he will not allow us to be ashamed. check Num 25, 1 Chr 16:9, Acts 10. Also the bible does tell us that Jesus loved John over the rest of his disciples.
---mark585 on 11/6/05

yes i disagree. God's blessings are also physical, he also gives health and wealth, and not only prophesying and tongues, etc.
---Eloy on 11/6/05

Thanks all considering this question. JEFFREY God's impartiality, Matt. 22:15-16. REBECCA D "blessings" health/family/food/clothes: Is God CURSING women whose babies are stillborn, the hungry, naked? I think God not a traffic cop or Wizard of OZ. I believe He desires His children to have a loving, spiritual relationship with Him; that relationship will help us bear whatever pain the World causes us. "Stuff" or lack of it, should not hinder this relationship. Geraldine
