David, just an FYI tht markv does not have a handle on the english language. He doesn't understand past, present and FUTURE tense.

TO BECOME is furute tense, meaning AFTER we receive.

MarkV claims he was born again, born of the spirit of THE LIFE OF Christ who set him free from the law of sin and death BEFORE he believed. God just gave him some insight that he was already saved and set free.

Kinda like all those in the LAND before Israel took it...and it appears those were the ITES God had to drive off.

Israel did not just wake up already in the Promise land, go back over and have to cross again.

Gods PICTURES are most important!

"But as many as receive Him, to them He gave them the right to become Sons of God," ---Mark_V. on 11/27/10

Mark
The are you interpreting this verse to say, "But as many as received him, He made them Sons of God"?
If you are, the verse says that God gave them the right, to become Sons.

There are many people who have the right to vote, but do they all become voters?

Did I say anyone was already in Christ before His death? Did I say anyone was Glorified with Christ before His death OR even NOW?

Jesus dierctly before He goes to calvary PRAYS for those who not only God gave Him, that is the Apostles, but prays for those who believe through their word, which include you and me.

In THIS age of GRACE Christ is building His Church.

Matthew is also FUTURE. You might say Jesus, who is PROPHET, PRIEST and KING as well as Savior of the world, not only prophesied while He was here, is fulfilling NOW His role as Priest ( Hebrews) and will fulfill His role as KING later.

The KING doesn't have a Body, but will rule OVER a Body one day..Earthly Israel.
We, His Church, will RULE with Him.

Kathr, now I see why you are so messed up. When a person goes before the Lord to commit their lives to Christ, they have to have that faith and conviction they have rebelled against God. In your case you committed your life without faith or repentance and then expected to get it later. It was a false commitment.
When a person is dead they cannot even speak to God let along admit something they do not believe in. The only way you get saved is if you believe by faith before you commit your life to Christ. And faith comes as a gift of God to those who are made alive to Christ. You never had faith in Christ before you committed to Him. Never had remorse for what you had done. It was a fake gospel you were following.
---Mark_V. on 11/28/10

//John 17 CLEARLY state Jesus Prayed for HIS BODY who are those He said are IN HIM, and will be GLORIFIED in Him.//
How did one get into Christ before his death?

//It's not a mystery anymore.//
You are right but it was in Christ's earthly ministry. And apparently Paul's gospel is still a mystery to you.

//But since you did not read or comment on all tHE work I went through to answer.//

I read every verse that you wrote.

And when you get in over your head and don't know something, you come up with your slanderous remarks.

\\Yes, my name is Kev. And, I prefer the 16th Century English.\\

Actually, there is no such thing, as English spelling and grammar still was not stabilized in the 16th century.

I plea to differ. William Shakespeare (considered to be one of the best English writers ever) did use the Geneva Bible. Even an English professor David Daniell said the following: "No William Tyndale, no William Shakespeare".

The excellence of the English language was at its climax in the late 1500s (the period of the English Reformation). William Shakespeare lived in this period.

michael_e, the MYSTERY IS , Christ in you THE HOPE OF GLORY...Colossians 1:17-29 especially verse 26+27 we are told what the mYstery is...IT's not a mystery anymore.

John 17 CLEARLY state Jesus Prayed for HIS BODY who are those He said are IN HIM, and will be GLORIFIED in Him.

But since you did not read or comment on all tHE work I went through to answer YOUR question concerning John in Galatians..michael_e you do not want to LEARN or LISTEN, but like others just want to force their twisted doctrine on others.

The glad tydings...

THE HOLY GOSPEL OF I E S V S CHRIST, according to Iohn.

Iohn 1:13, Which are borne not of blood, nor of the wil of the flesh, nor of the wil of man, but of God.

As verse 12 previously stated, euen to them that beleeue in his Name,

Ergo, a sure conclusion: For it is God which worketh in you both the will and the deed, euen of his good pleasure.

Exactly!
Have you never read the Gospel that the ascended Christ revealed to the Apostle Paul?
Eph. 3:2 If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me(Paul)to you-ward

Rom 16:25 Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was KEPT SECRET(NOT REVEALED BEFORE) since the world began,
So if you can find Paul's gospel, 1 Cor . 15:1-4, 1 Thess 4:14)except in Paul's letters, than this scripture and others like it would be untrue
---michael_e on 11/27/10

to understand born again in the Spirit, we should examine the process of being born in the flesh.

Joh 3:5 Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. "

temporal ---> eternity
fiery trials ---> purification

we all must do both to spend eternity with the Father.

the parable of the sower and the seed. notice the parallels between deliverance in the flesh (childbirth) and deliverance in the Spirit (child of God)

Peace to all.
---aka on 11/27/10

MarkV, I do not have to be born again first to believe God created the heavens and earth. ALL I have to do is believe what was written in Genesis 1.

I do not have to be Born Again to believe Jesus is the Lamb of God. for John the Baptist stated so, as well as Isaiah in chapter 53.

I do not have to be born again to believe if I do not pay my taxes I will suffer consequences, for my goverment has stated so.

I do not have to be Born Again to believe there was a terrorist plot in Portland, for teh News papers and WITNESSES to that event have told me so. I just believe what was reported.

Just as the Apostles REPORTED what they saw...JESUS Christ has RISEN! Did they have to be born again to SEE that? NO!
---kathr4453 on 11/27/10

Again MarkV, I stand by what I believe, WITH the truth recording again in Ephesians, AFTER I believed, THEN I was sealed by the Holy Spirit. The sealing is my New Birth, and PROMISE of eternal life that I today can NOW enjoy IN the Risen Christ, and will have until Christ comes and then redeems us completely as we spend eternity with HIM.
It is the DEPOSIT of My inheritance I will come into fully at His return.

And just as was shown us by Cornelius conversion, it was TOO after he believed.

Kathr, you got you sentence reverse,
"Unless I believe Jesus died for my sin, became the sacrifice for my sin, there is NO WAY I can be saved, forgiven and made a New creature through the new birth, promising eternal life."
The only way you can be save is if you believe Jesus died for your sins. The only way you can believe is to be born of the Spirit first. And God is the only One that can do that.

As a Jew, now saved, I am now one who IS a member of Christ's BODY, I became a member and part of the Body of Christ the moment I was Born again, Born of the Spirit of the Life of the risen Christ. Just as Paul stated in romans 8.

Paul also tells us those who are led by the Spirit ARE the sons of God, His begotten children through Jesus Christ, joint heirs with Christ.

//michael_e, I think I see the problem here, ---kathr4453 on 11/25/10//

I don't believe you see the problem, or you would at least question why Jesus in His earthly ministry, uses the words "born again" once and directs it to a ruler of the Jews, and never mentions it again. Why?

You have used the term more than that in the last two days

He never mentions the church, the boC even once, yet He mentions hell at least 15 times.
The bible records Jesus speaking to what? Two Gentiles, never mentioning "born again"
Didn't gentiles need to be "born again?
---michael_e on 11/25/10

michael_e, I think I see the problem here, You believe that BOC or Born Again was something Jesus needed to say in EVERY sentence. That if it's not stated in every entence it doesn't apply. But look at the ISSUE here. Did you see something AS exciting? AS wonderful?

Here was a woman in her SIN, totally depraved, who had HEARD about the Messiah, and KNEW all about the Coming Christ.

She was actually the first evangelist.

When the Pharisees=men of the scriptures rejected who He was.

Anyone who's truly saved can explain it, although, not all salvation experiences are exactly alike....It means that God the Father draws you to His Son so you might be saved. God initiates a sinners prayer, in which you ask Him to forgive you of all your sins. Then He comes and makes His home in you. My salvation was a bit more dramatic. Note: It is the Blood which saves lost souls. Jesus died for it, never, ever diminish it.

//How do you see Luke 22:18-20 with 1st Corinthians 10:16.michael_e, I'm still waiting for your answer. ---kathr4453

Paul recounts(1Cor) what our Lord did and said at the Lord's supper mentioning only the bread and the wine, while at the Passover(Luke 22) there was more than this. The Passover, like water baptism, was an OT. ordinance, but the Lord's supper is N.T. (Matt. 26:28).
The Lord's supper is connected to the finished work of the Cross in celebration and remembrance. It couldn't be celebrated before the Cross.

not what I said Kath, Quote: It was not mentioned as a necessity for salvation.

Susan, that was a very good example of born again, or born of the Spirit. After Jesus told Nicodemus about having to be born again, He says this about how the Holy Spirit works,
"The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit."
Jesus point was that just as the wind cannot be controlled or understood by human beings but its effects can be witnessed, so also it is with the Holy Spirit. He cannot be controlled or understood, but the proof of His work is apparent. Where the Spirit works, there is undeniable and unmistakeable evidence.

Again means, "Born from above". The Person of the Holy Spirit comes to you. You don't know whence it came from. The moment Jesus saves you through His mighty saving Blood, powerful Blood, you become smart when before you were dumb, you become wise, when before you were unwise. As matter of fact, before God saved you, you were blind, deaf, and dumb. And God has raised you up from among the dead. Hallelujah. These are all the signs of a new birth from above. Hallelujah+

The definition of being born again is (regeneration), which is a work of the Holy Spirit, where He comes into our life to redeem us and we become the temple of the Living God and then are able to live for Him. It's like the Light comes on and we are able to love and learn about God, become His children and grow in our relationship with Him because He regenerated us, His children.

Draw 2 distinct crcles(~1cm radius) on top and bottom of an A4 paper. Link the 2 circles in the middle with a line. Name the top line Paradise, the bottom line Hell. All human-beings are walking on this line in only 2 directions(no 3rd direction). A person is BORN-AGAIN (who was walking previously towards HELL in disobedience to God) when s/he takes the salvation made available in Jesus Christ and starts walking towards Paradise. A person is back-sliding if s/he looses focus on Jesus and starts walking back towards Hell. It does not matter how far from the circle but the direction of movement.
---Adetunji on 10/17/10

Jesus told a great Religious Teacher "you must be born again." This was an Old Testament promise that God would send His Holy Spirit to live within his people.

This is solely the work of (God)the Holy Spirit. "Born Again" is to be REGENERATED (transformed) into a real relationship & surrender to the Lordship of Christ Jesus. Being religious is NO indication of REGENERATION.

Ezekiel 36:25 "I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean, I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your idols".

Ezekiel 36:26 "I will give you a new heart & put a new spirit in you, I will remove from you your heart of stone & give you a heart of flesh".

When we are born again we are transferred from the domain of darkness and transferred to the kingdom of light. We receive the Holy Spirit as a pledge of our inheritance. We are filled with the fruit of righteousness through Christ. We are made complete in Christ. We become partakers of His divine nature. We are redeemed, forgiven of all our sins, and justified. We are set free from our body of death. We become slaves of righteousness. Most of all, Jesus presents us holy and blameless to the Father. We become children of God!
---Bob on 2/9/09

in John 3 Jesus says one must be born again of water and the spirit. The only place in the NT where it talks about both of these is in your baptism. See Acts2:38. There you see faith repentance and baptism as our part of the covenant and God promising us forgiveness of sins and the help of His Holy Spirit. I've always looked at that question as synonymous with asking, "Do you have faith in God, Believe in Jesus, Have your hope in Him, repented of your sin, been baptized into Christ and are doing your best to live holy, that is separate from sin as God has instructed while keeping at the work of encouraging the brethren and expanding His Kingdom?" Although "are you born again", or "are you saved" might be easier

It means when you give your heart to God.
And when you do he gets all the sin,out of
you and you become a new beeing.
*******

where in Gods Word does it say God "gets all the sin out"?

...it doesn't ...Acts 2:38 we repent of our OLD ways our PAST sins are forgiven

you do not "profess" Christ and instantaneously receive a "get out of sin card"

else Paul and all Apostles preached in vain where they talked about OVERCOMING and HOLDING FAST so that no one take your crown ...True Christians overcome sin striving to be like Christ ...continuous process for the rest of physical life

John 3:3 Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God

one is not "born again" in this lifetime because FLESH and BLOOD do not INHERIT the Kingdom of God AND The Kingdom of God will be here WHEN Christ RETURNS NOT BEFORE (2Corin 4:4, 1Corin 15:50, John 6:54, 56)

born again simply means REPENTING turning away from and forsaken sin to OBEY God now

Col 1:15, 18 Christ is FIRSTBORN from DEAD

Christ DIED to be BORN AGAIN to LIFE ...Christ was EXAMPLE ...we also DIE (Heb 9:27) to be BORN AGAIN to the PROMISE of ETERNAL LIFE when Christ RETURNS to RULE on earth in Gods Kingdom

FAITH in Christ KNOWING to be born again does not happen now it is a promise for future

"His life for yours". It takes all of your entire life and being, nothing less is acceptable. In genuine personal prayer you surrender your life to Christ, confessing and forsaking your sins, then ask him to Save you from sin and to come into your heart and into your life to take over. When you become born-again, you receive his nature in exchange for yours, he takes out the dead stony heart and gives you a live new heart, one in which he lives. Now you live for him, instead of living for you.

It is actually simple,we make it complicated but God normally says it plain. We are all born once naturally but when we come to Jesus he wipes the "slate" clean hence we are "born again" spiritually. I was told it simple like this and I got it and when I speak to unsaved folks they get it, might not agree but they understand the concept.

Christ was speaking to Nicodemus when He told him he has to be born again. Nicodemus was not a believer. "Born again" is being misused by many so called Christians.

1ST Cliff:: We all breath AIR (PNEUMA) which is essential for our existance wheather you are a saint Or a sinner. The spirit of God which we embody is our acceptance of the existence Of Almighty God this inner unseen spirit is nourished by the graces we receive in acknowledging God as Our Creator & redeemer & keeping ourselves Free from sin& yes when you die, that spirit Or Soul, entrusted in your care, shall be judged accordingly as the saying goes "as you have lived so shall you reap."

Lupe if you read Cliff close you will see a mixture of many and I say many cult doctrines and confusion.
He throws in much of the cultic teaching. You would think he is JW, Mormon or worse.
It wasn't until he stated that he studied the works of Joseph Campbell who studied the works of Pantheistic Monism Spinoza which included Hinduism, Mysticism, Taoism and the New Age movement that I understood where he is coming from.
He is serious, but seriously wrong.

2. I know I am not God and really don't know who is saved, but by your answers to everyone in each blog you have shown nothing but contempt to everything we believe in. You are like the person that puts a symbol of a fish with feet. not satified with just not believing, but want to make a statement too. I feel so sorry for you. You should read the answers others put and maybe Christ will touch your heart. This is said in love.

Cliff, you still haven't stopped critizing the Christian and his faith. You talk bad about the Bible, the Christian and his faith, and all that he stand for. You are one sick lost person and in great need of God. Without Christ, you will remain the same till you die. How terrible it must be for you to hear everyone here talk about salvation and you continue to resist. The bible tells us that one day your heart will be so hard there will be no turning back. I pray for you. I really do.
---Lupe2618 on 11/28/05

Born again is very simple. God made it that way. Its your second birth. It means you have gone before the Lord and ask him to forgive you of your sins and come into your heart and make you a new person. And he does. He cannot lie, what ever He says He will do then it will be done. Because He is the everlasting God of the universe. He is the first and the last.

Rickey; If you were a spirit, you could walk on water, fly up to the heavens etc..(spirit beings can do that .angels are spirit beings) no you're just a plain old human like the rest of us. Your "spirit" is your mental disposition.("he was in good spirits!") There's also the "Christmas spirit" and the "spirit of '76" Man's physical spirit is his breath (pneuma. GR.)

born again (or new birth) is the work of God by which a lost sinner who receives the Lord Jesus receives a new nature, becomes a child of God, begins a new life. It is a second birth, a spiritual birth.

If you look at John 3:3-5 Jesus said that no man can see the kingdom of God except he be born again. In the original context it says "born from above". When you except Jesus as you Savior and make Him your Lord your spirit is born-again or renewed. I Thessalonian 5:23 and Hebrews 4:12 point out that we are a 3-part being(spirit, soul, body). Genesis 1:26 and John 4:24 shows that we are a spirit. Romans 12:1-2 shows us that we have a soul(mind, will, emotions, intellect) and live in a body.

Lupe; I don't think that just becomming "spiritually-minded" is re-birth!As a human we can't live outside this planet,in order to live in heaven ,you must be re-born as a celestial being! "unless a man is born again" leaves out children!and those like the "thief" on the cross if it is a "mental process"

Norma-(Allow the Holy Spirit to help you understand the scriptures. Simply "ask in Faith believing", that`s what His word tells us to do. He will help you understand.)That is why we have so many different view on scriptures because we fell we can interpret the bibles on our own...

The contoversy of BA is really to be understood. We know from Birth to the point of realisation-BA-is different in everyones life. It's easy for many who are not so sincere,to say I believe in Jesus versus the pull of moral behaviour. People get tripped into being complacent. So born again takes second place this is not for every one but those who are lax.Jesus loves us all& forgives us but should we take advantage of that unending love so readily given.Therein lies the danger of the OSAS& BA theory
---Emcee on 11/11/05

Our first birth is physical, from our mom's womb. To be born again is our spiritual rebirth, when we believe in Jesus as our saviour. John 3:3-8

Born again, or born a second time. Once physically, then born a second time, spiritually. You must be born to God to have a spiritual life IN CHRIST Jesus. If not...when we die physically...our soul is not alive to Christ and we die in our sin without redemption...which ONLY Christ can provide. NO relationship to God through HIS only begotton SON, No hope. When we are born again, we will only die physically...NEVER spiritually. AT our physical death...we will be more alive than ever before.

I like many of these answers. When you were borned of your mother her water broke that was you watery birth. When you ask JESUS into your life he comes in right then. Because he will not cast out any who come to him. JOHN 6-37 ---mima 11/11/2005

Read John 3 It defines for you what Jesus said to Nicodemus as to how to be `born again` in the Spirit of God. The `old man` must die, and the `new man` in Christ lives anew. Allow the Holy Spirit to help you understand the scriptures. Simply "ask in Faith believing", that`s what His word tells us to do. He will help you understand.

Getting born again is deciding to accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. As your Lord, you surrender to Him, his will, his standards, as stated in the Bible. You have to follow him, and cease doing the old stuff you were doing before you made him your Lord.
