to me it means living and having my thought life, and all decisions based on the kingdom, aka God,and his word.

understand that the word walking refers to the phrase, daily living.

Walking in the spirit means having the "fruit of light"...
Ephesians 5:8 and 9
"walk as children of light...for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true.
The fruits OF THE SPIRIT (GOD'S spirit) are owned and manifested by GOD'S SPIRIT, but we should have "fruits" of OUR OWN by being "good and right and true" ("walking" in a Godly manner).

To the best of my knowledge, the Bible uses the theme full of the Spirit in four specific ways: first, the wisdom in order to complete a work, second, wisdom in general, third, of prophecy, and fourth, it is extant when we help our brother(s) *1). This might be better explained as an overflowing of the Spirit, even John 7:38.
*1) Work / Exodus 28:3, 31:3, 35:30-35, Judges 6:34, Acts 6:3.
In general / Deuteronomy 34:9, Judges 13:25, 14:6, 15:14, Proverbs 18:4, Luke 2:40, John 3:34.
Prophecy / 1Chronicles 12:18, 2Chronicles 24:20, Luke 1:41, Acts 2:2-4 (tongues), 13:9, > Balaam: Numbers 22:35, 23:5-10, 16-24, 24:2-9, 15-24, Saul: 1Samuel 10:10-12, 11:6-7, 19:23-24.
Brother / John 4:14, 7:38, etc.

When accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior, one receives Holy Spirit in completion. Is this not also the preeminent expression of faith in our lives? *2) We always have the full anointing and power, more than is needed in order to complete that which the Lord asks of us, *3! Certainly, there is a precept for us to increase in knowledge of the Lord and of his will, and we must express it by doing good works for Him.
*2) Psalm 45:7, Isaiah 61:1 with Luke 4:18, 21, John 1:32-33, 41, Acts 4:27, 9:22, 10:38, 17:2-3, 18:28, 2Corinthians 1:21, Hebrews 1:9, 1John 2:20 & 27.
*3) Isaiah 11:2 (Jesus), 2Corinthians 3:4-6, 12:9-10, Ephesians 1:17-19 (more wisdom), 5:18, Colossians 1:9, Hebrews 4:16.

To be carnally minded is death.
To walk in the Spirit we should have the mind of Christ and be seeking those things which are above where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.
Seeking to please God as Jesus always did even though as humans we may fail.
To be spiritually minded is life and peace.
Always mindful of the Lord to the best of our ability.

I am a mortal human made of flesh. Can someone please tell me how I can 'die daily of the flesh' and why I suppose to be weak? If we are not spiritual beings how can we walk in the spirit?
---Dr.Rich on 4/17/08|
It means you are not walking in the flesh. I do not know how to explain this. You just must do it!>>>Jesus helps you. All I know.

It means being so in touch with the Lord I am in total submission to the Spirit and yielding to His voice.

Being led by Jesus Christ in every major discision you make.

Walking according to the will of God not according to the desires of the flesh.

Walking in the Spirit is the opposite of being under the law. Rom.7:6 We serve in the newness of the spirit not the oldness of law. You listen to the Spirit , He gives life, the letter kills.

Walking in the Spirit means daily dying to self and living to Christ . The Holy Spirit leads us into all things righteous away from the carnal things which destroy a Christian's walk with Christ . It is putting Christ first and ourselves last . Walking in the Spirit is wanting to please Jesus more than wanting to please ourselves . It is allowing the Holy Ghost to be , thus keeping us from sin,our stength when we are weak . Caution guided by Spiritual wisdom , grasping the mind of Christ .

Amen! I like all of these replies! To me, Romans 8:5 does a nice job of summarizing the definition of "walking in the Spirit".
"Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires." (NIV)
"Walking in the Spirit" -- it's all about where your "thinking" is at.
The way you think, determines the way you walk! :)

It is literal. It is continually living in the Holy Spirit, walking in prayer, and not in the flesh.
---Eloy on 11/12/05|
Mima and Madison described it very well, but it's also action. Walking in the spirit also refers being so in touch with and so submissive to God that others see Him shining through you in your words and actions.

The answer is very diffcult for me. I've been there many times but; It is like being quite. It is like being alone yet knowing GOD is also with you.Once while praying I said, I don't want to put you to a test LORD and the HOLY SPIRIT said to me, don't worry about me I am equal to any test. I felt so small.---mima 11/11/3005
