yes!>>>When you say I do, you belong to Christ. And you belong to no one else. God owns you body and soul. You== His.

If it is, between whom would it be? And if a dispute broke, who would be the lawyers on either side? And who would be the jury? And the judge who summed up each sides arguments? And what damages would be awarded for the winning party?

What we have is a covenant and we can rely on God to keep His part without fail. It is our part that sometimes gets muddled.

Ann "..it is a covenant.." A covenant is often defined as a contract.
---jhonny on 5/21/07

A contract with absolute guarantees? Can we guarantee God will keep his part. Can we guarantee all other parties will keep their part. That was the old contract. They didn't keep their part. They all failed.
The new contract needs explaining pertaining to guarantees.

What do you mean, Mima? Salvation is not a contract between 2 people. It is a gift that God gives to those who open their lives to Him. It has nothing to do with anyone else, unless by people seeing the change in your life and wanting what you have. It is not a legal contract at all- it is a covenant of love between 1 person and their Saviour. Please explain what you meant.

, NO. it is a free gift, we can add nothing to it. all we do is either accept his grace or reject it.

Christ substitudes Himself in our behalf and takes our sins, and we take His righteousness before the Father. We receive what we don't deserve. And if eternal life is given to the believer, and He is righteous, he stands that way because of what Christ did not what he does.

Eloy, Salvation is not given to the righteous, Salvation makes us righteous.
---Lupe2618 on 11/14/05

Ann and Osborne, you guys are so right in your answers. Eloy, you go around mentioning dogs and going back to their vomit many times. You are teaching by grabing verses and trying to put a point while jepordizing many Scriptures pertaing to salvation in the process without regard to the primary giver of grace. You totally distroy what grace really means. I am with brother Elder that you should reconcle the Scriptures, one with another instead of distroying many.

salvation is a gift given to man kind by god
man has to recieve the gift.once the person has excepted the gift there are no returns.
god sticks by his promises, god saves eternally
---osborne on 11/14/05

Ann, I liked your response the best. You are so right on. Straight and to the point I couldn't have said it any better!

Nope, salvation is a gift given to the righteous, but the gift is lost whenever mankind backslides into sin. Salavtion is only binding when the recipient of it remains obedient. After God saves one from sin, and they decide to leave salvation to engage in sin again, then it's like a dog returning to his vomit, or a pig that is washed only to wallow in the mire again.

i dont think it is binding btw you and God. He gives us choice always. Although if you read 2 Peter 2:28-30 i dont think you would want to get out of your "contract"... (dont really like that word though)
