Confess Your Sins To Others

Are your sins truely forgiven if you don't confess before a witness, without a witness who will back you up on Judgement day?

confess to one one another-James 5:16-Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. And yes you have the power to forgive someone.Jesus said-# Matt6:14-For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.Matt 6:13-15 Matt 6
Matt 6:15But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.Matt 18:20-22-21 Then Peter came to Him and said, Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times?
22 Jesus said to him, I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.

The Bible says, "If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from Heaven, and will forgive their sin, and heal their land." Man has no Heaven or hell to put us in, this Scripture says seek out God, NOT man. Pray to God, NOT man. God is the only person needed to be truly forgiven of sin. We are born alone, we die alone. We can't take a "witness" with us.

We need no witness for it is God himself who hears the prayer of the repentant sinner. God knows the heart. Psm 51:17, I Sam. 16:7

You're standing in a courtroom - God is the judge, Jesus is the defence atterny, and Satan is the procicuting atterny. Satan accuses you of all your past sin. If you have confessed your sin, and had it washed with Christ blood, Jesus will get up and tell the judge that. God will then say "Not Guilty". Jesus is our witness. God is the only one who can forgive sin. There is no need for anyone else.

James 5:16 says you will be healed, not forgiven. No human can forgive you or judge you. I personally will stand on the promise God has given in this scripture. I will walk by faith and I will be healed.

We are told to confess our faults (sins) to each other so that is scriptural but that does not mean instead of confessing them to God and I don't think it means confessing EVERY sin to other people. There are times I think when we will only be at peace if we admit to other people what we have done and ask them personally to forgive us but ALL our sins must be confessed to God.

Christ will be my witness of Judgement Day. To confess your sins to, too many people, can lead to "Christian gossip" in the form of a side-ways prayer request.

To answer the question why do christians object to revealing their sins they were not ashamed when comitting them. Jesus told the apostles& gave them this powerJohn 20-V19-23also readJohn14, V20-24 telling your sins to the air is not Confessing it has to be an open declaration, with sincere contrition in order to complete the obligation.

I will never confess my sin to any man, except to Jesus Christ. He is the only person who can back me up during judgment day. I am sure you can't back me up if I am to confess my sins to you. You would be busy with your "own salvation" and with the checklist on "how you fare along God's sight" when you were still on earth during the judgment day!

This was new to me...this need for a witness on Judgment Day! I Jn. 2:1 says "...If any man sin, we have an advocate with the father, Jesus Christ, the righteous." Why would we need any one else as "back up"? I don't believe forgiveness requires us to confess sins publicly. But James 5:16 says "confess your faults one to another and pray for one another that ye may be healed..." Seeking help and prayer from Godly friends, though humbling, is often very valuable.

Felicia, I like 2Chronicles 7:14 also. The US needs to repent, as Isreal did then.

If we need no witness then what was James talking about in chapter 5;14 " Are any among you sick! They should send for the church elders, who will pray for them and rub olive oil on them in the name of the lord. This prayer made in faith will heal the sick: the LORD will restore them to health, and the sins they have committed will be forgiven. So then, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, so that you will be healed." God uses men for his work!
