Lupe, you seem a nice person, decent and all. But being decent and nice will not get you into heaven. The Catholic Church is the false church of Rev 13-Len K, you are long winded, and the false religion of evolution has corrupted your otherwise good mind. (One must tell the truth, regardless if it offends, heaven knows, heaven is at stake!)

Hi Everybody!!! I live in Texas. Married with two grown sons and a wonderful husband. I love this site. I like blogging. I am a born again Christian (Pentecostal)I have an awesome Pastor and belong to an awesome church that I love a lot. I love animals, flowers, journaling. God's peace to all.
---Robyn on 9/12/07

Hi! I'm 21, and I was raised Catholic. although I do not identify as such. I stopped attending church long ago, but I am fascinated with studying the Bible. I enjoy the discussions on this forum because I often learn new things, and because they challenge me to find Biblical guidance on topics I had often not considered before.

Hi Angie
Welcome! We welcome teens or anyone who wants to post questions, so ask away and we will do our best to answer. You will read different opinions, so it may be confusing. And maybe . . .someday . . . someone will honestly say, "I'm sorry, I don't know the answer to that question, but I will try to find out for you." May God bless you, Honey.

About the same answer with a little local bend. Dis in the USA is a slang used by Americans, especially teens and young adults, to express when someone disrespects another. This is used by both Blacks and Whites but more so by even elementary school Blacks. I was a Substitute Teacher and observed this a lot in Texas schools.

i prefer "real english" any day.
---mike on 12/21/05

Thanks for the lessons in slang - very interesting but wouldn't it be easier if words were written in full. 'Hood' meaning neighbourhood seems really strange to me especially as hood is a real word with a totally different meaning. Diss is a place in Norfolk, England. It takes only a split second longer to say disrespect than it takes to diss. No doubt this is part of what we mean when we talk about the generation gap !!
---M.A. on 12/21/05

Greetings Terry! Glad to see your post! God Bless you Sister! mary8387
---Mary_D on 12/21/05

DIS is a prefix meaning the opposite of Discontent, disability, disagree.---so by itself it has no meaning unless some one is alluding to something. Then the diss is a disagreement with the saying or statement.
---Emcee on 12/20/05

So I guess some just go ahead and disrespect a person, but don't call it dis though.
---Bob on 12/20/05

I was looking for the "Introduction" blog . . . Oh well. My name is Terri, I'm 44 years old and have been disabled since 2002. I'm married for the second time. I have no children (by choice) I love Jesus. I'm an animal advocate and I feel blessed to have found this site! I can't wait to get to know my way around it! Blessings!
---Terri on 12/20/05

The hood is simply "the Neighborhood". This is usually used in an uncouth way, like dis. The simple use these expressions in everyday life.
---Gregg on 12/20/05

To dis someone is to use direspect. A Christian should not be dissing anybody, but it happens. Some people who say that they are Christians are really dis allusioned. I feel that eloy dissed Tammy Faye, but maybe it's just child behavior. We should respect our elders and especially our brethren. Time is short and we need to grow up. There is work to be done to help bring the lost to Jesus.
---Sarah on 12/20/05

Dissin is a slang word, but it's not a bad 'hood' word. I use it all the time, and I'm from saint John NB far from any 'hood'. If I say don't dis me, it just means don't insult me. It's just a slang word like using dude or cool or there is nothing christian or unchristian about it.

JESUS is our LIGHT and JOY!! Praise God! mary8387
---Mary_D on 12/20/05

M.A., yes "dis" is a common colloquial word. A Verb meaning 1. to down, or put down a person; degrade; condemn; thumb down. 2. discard; cast off; put at a distance. And it is a Noun meaning 1. one who is disagreeable; disobedient, dissenter, condemned. A christian should not be a dissing, nor should they be dissing one another.

Granma Elsie, we've noticed that you haven't been blogging as much as you used to and we want you to know that your are missed when you're away!!!

And speaking of missing our friends and fellow bloggers, has anyone heard from Xanthi?
---DoryLory on 12/20/05

Thanks very much Karen, I appreciate that but, sadly, I don't know the meaning of this particular use of the word 'hood' either. A hood is attached to my coat and I put it up when it's raining or cold. I've obviously been educated very differently!!! or am I just getting old?

M.A. dissing is not a nice word. It's a slang used in the "Hood" and it means disrespect. I have only heard of unsaved people using this word, but with the world today some are allowing the evil in.

My cat "Knothead" still thinks he should be worshipped! He struts and looks very regal. He's a fluffy Maine Coon. He considers it CATaclysmic if he food bowl isn't full, and he'll let me hear about it!

WELCOME Momma M, Patti, and Rain!

Momma M, I like your style. Len, I'm sure you have faults just like Tammy Faye does, we all do. If we're going to make fun of someone, look in the mirror. Sorta like, I'm so dumb the other blondes run from me!

Hello! I'm Patti (from Ohio). I've blogged here a few times, but to be honest, I find it hard to fit in. Some conversations are too deep and others seem to be very mean spirited. I have read several posts from Elsie and she seems to have such a sweet, gentleness about her. I hope to get to know you all better.

My name is Marie but people call me Momma M. I'm still in my 60's, I love the Lord but I take no foolishness from anybody who is a wise guy, like using God to display their own rightousness. The Lord gave me a gift of discernment and I can tell who is serious with God and who is playing games. I hope you don't think of me as rude because I really love people but I get angry when some people take advantage of God's people. God bless you all! Merry Christmas.

What is an 'astrial plain?' Its a tool used by 'new age' proctologist. (New agers are at the END of my jokes too....) An atheist is one who thinks himself a mistake---- an agnostic is an atheist without the courage of his convictions.

Barbera, I-15 north, 300m....

In Egypt they worshiped cats. They knew the truth of the divine feline, the dander doctrine, when you die, you take a catamerand to Catilina, to be buried in a catacomb, after reading the sacred catologue, uh that joke is a catastrophy, But them Egyptian were 'catmatic' about it...

Yes, a cult is any religion that denies the literal Word of God, from Genesis to Revelation. As to the earth, it is only 6,000 years old. As to 'Democracy' it is pagan heresy.(Rushdooney, Gary North) As to pluralism, toleration of other beliefs is for those lacking conviction.

I think Red Rock Canyon is a cool place to worship! I can look around and see the glory of God in all He created, being there at sunset is awesome! I have a church family and I attend a great church. But when I want to feel alone with God and feel a closer connection between Him, me, and some of His most "artistic work" that He created for us to feast our eyes on, I head to the mountains!
