I Go To Bed Scared To Death

I go to bed every night scared to death that I will not wake up in the morning. I love God for Sacrificing his Son as do I love Jesus for Sacrificing his life for me. I know I have been saved by the grace of Jesus but I am really, scared of leaving my wife and children. Am I NUTS? I AM STRUGGLEING.

Hopfully Eric is better or is he still crying?
---Duane_Dudley_Martin on 4/15/08

Eric, I am no doctor but this sounds like some kind of stress you are under. Look at it like this, if God takes you in the middle of the night, you won't know a thing about it until you wake up in Heaven. There is nothing you can do about it if it happens. Why worry? Your wife will manage somehow and God will take care of your children. Do you have faith or not. The only thing to worry about is whether your family serve God or the devil.

This is evil forebodings. I have to guard against this. It is awful. The only solution is to ask God to take it away. It works for me every single time. No you are not NUTS. What you are getting is coming straight out of hell.>>>I never had this evil forebodings when I was unsaved. If you do not ask God to help you it will stick around and steal your joy and your peace. PRAY.

Why do you feel like you are going to die and not wake up? Do you have health problems? If so me and my family will pray for you.
---Ellie7766 on 4/14/08

Eric, are you ill? Do you feel you will die in your sleep from an illness? If not, then yes you are nuts, JUST KIDDING! Dear brother take your wife and children each evening and all of you pray over each other that God will bless you and keep you protected. Before you sleep, take matters in your own hands through Jesus and ORDER the devil to stop planting these thoughts in your mind. Rest in the sleep of God's protection.Pray a hedge around your home that the angels will protect you and yours.God bless.

This post has been here for quite some time, Eric are you still around? If so update us please!

Cast your cares upon Jesus, he cares for you. Fear causes us to doubt God. Fear cancels out faith. Have your affairs in order. Put it in God's hands and don't worry. Constant fear steals our joy and we are not able to be a blessing. Enjoy your family today. If God calls you home, have faith that God WILL take care of your family. Tonight try this: What soever things are honest, just, pure, lovely, of good report, if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, THINK on these things. PHILIPPIANS 4:8.

No, of course, you aren't "nuts." 2 Timothy 1:7 says that fear is a spirit. Use the Word of God as a weapon against that force of darkness and it will leave (Ephesians 6:10-18). Meditate Scripture that speaks of God's protection and love. Psalm 91 is a good place to start. I also recommend reciting Psalm 91 as a prayer - a few or several times a day. I memorized it years ago and have it available at the tip of my tongue anytime I want it. It's very powerful!

Have no fear
Death is not near
It is the fear of death
That will give you anxiety
It's only the fear of death
That will steal you peace
Fear has no place in you
To dust we all return
Let your Faith

Take courage. He watches you & Angels are all about you. Death is like walking from one room to the next. As a Christian Jesus will tell you come u will feel no fear or sadness. Your wife/kids will join you 1 day if you go 1st he is your Daddy He would never cause you harm relax, smile & trust Him He loves & values you, so value yourself. He says even the death of His saints is precious in His sight. you are precious to him highly treasured so nothing bad will come to you when it is your time to cross.

Poem: This is the kind of friend You are-Without making me realize my souls's anguished history, You slip into my house at night and while I am sleeping, you silently carry off all my suffering and sorid past in Your beautiful hands.
Ask God to be this friend to you.

Eric, we care. Please let us know how you're doing regarding this problem. Walk (and sleep!) in peace brother.
---NVBarbara on 1/7/06

Eric, you are not their savior. It sounds like you have more confidence in your ability to keep your family than you do in God's ability. Some people do fall away from the Lord after a loss but not everyone does. Work on developing a more intimate relationship with God so that you can know that you know that He will deliver the one for whom you intercede (Job 22:30). Pray for your family, He'll look after them even if you're gone. He's the only One truly capable anyway.

(Jeremiah 49:11) Leave thy fatherless children, I will preserve {them} alive; and let thy widows trust in me.
(Psalms 68:5) A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, {is} God in his holy habitation.
It's understandble how you feel. But do not let it overwhem your thoughts. The mind is a battlefield. You have control of it. We all will die one day, until then, enjoy them everyday for the rest of your life.!

Thank you everyone for your help, It is not that I do not trust God to help me in my fear because I do trust him. If I were to die today I know that I will go to heaven to be with my Lord. My fear is that of not being able (or here) to take care of my family and to guide them in the way of the Lord. I hope and pray that when I leave this world my family will not leave the church, God or blame God for taking their father like alot of people do.

Here is your sleeping prescription: Read each one twice before bedtime. Psa 4:8 I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
Psa 3:5 I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me.

It would almost seem, at least on the surface, that you don't really trust God to t ake care of things while you are asleep. While God has given us husbands a responsibility to take care of our wife and children, you seem to be carrying it too far. (Either that or you are the one who is sared.) It might be wise for you to see a Christian psychologist.

I am a firm belief in having one's home annointed and prayed over for peace, safety from demons and satan ... satan is attacking you because you love Jesus. Bind and cast out all demons in your home. Pray each night for peace. Remember fear doesn't come from God, fear comes from satan. I pray that peaceful sleep comes to you and I rebuke your fear in the name of Jesus Christ.

2 Tim 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear . . .

Rom 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear . . .

The Holy Spirit inside of you would not cause fear. It seems that you should spend a lot of time in prayer, and submit to the Holy Spirit, because you are being tormented by another spirit.

Great advice here from the blogger's. Don't think of sleep time as the "end" of anything, but instead think of it as a continuation of a daily part of life. The Key, as these bloggers have stated so well, is to Pray every night before falling to sleep that God will give you a good sleep, and will keep you safe and sound, and that you will awake refreshed and full of well-being. Wind down about 15 minutes before bed, and don't drink any caffeine, or have any loud intense time before bed time.
