Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.

Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

For the great day of his wrath is come, and who shall be able to stand?

The Word of God is truth.
The Word within us will be tested---to make sure it is the Word of God we follow.

Not our own---or any other.

Praise God for His mercy and Grace.

Yehovah's uspoken Glory-
John 1:1-15
*The Word was God...

In the beginning[Bereshiyt]was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.(Chiastic structure)

*Yehovah's spoken Glory-
Jn 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Immanuel-God with us
Yeshua-God is Savior
Mat 4:1-11
1Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.

*The Word of God--in flesh reply to the devil--
"It is written----get behind me".

Yehovahs' Word inspired down to each letter-given to us with instruction to overcome. In this world it will be tested.

His Word is what stands.
Our Word does not.

Beautiful word pun-
..."Hearing comes by the Word of God'.

Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and [hearing by the word of God].

Not our word-our interpetation-not our understanding--
God Word alone is eternal.

We praise Him for His mercy and grace.

Mat4:4-10(all)But he answered and said,[It is written],Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that [proceedeth out of the mouth of God]---If thou be the Son of God,cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. Jesus said unto him,[It is written again,Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God]--And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.Then saith Jesus unto him,[Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written], Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

The Seg, that was very good what you said. Scripture many times reminds us to check ourselves if we are really in the faith. To make our salvation sure. Many never do and will find out one day, they were not of us, as 1 John 2:19.
---Mark_V. on 2/18/11

Thing is: we all sin. But God 'remembers our sins no more'. So in Gods eyes we are sinless! Is that good or what? Rom 8:1 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in union with Christ Jesus. (ISV). So let's forget about sin and focus on Jesus!

In fact it gets better: 2Co 5:21 God made the one who did not know sin to be sin for us, so that we might become God's righteousness in him. (ISV) Where is the sin now? We are not only righteous, we are God's righteousness in Christ! Hallelujah!! What a win-win situation for us! We have no more sin!
---jj on 2/15/11

It is written, Jesus Christ is the word of God made flesh.
It is also written, I will write my words in your hearts.

You should be, afraid of committing sin.
I m sure, he made that more than abundantly clear!

But, you keep thinking about the law.
So you see everyone breaking the law.
Yet, you know! Neither you nor anyone keep it!

But, bare this in mind always, anything! Not just the things you pick.
That is not of faith is sin!
O ye of little faith, where does this leave you?

Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith, prove your own selves.
Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?
---TheSeg on 2/14/11

Craig ... I wouuld also ask why Gd would warn us about the dangers of committing sin, if He had not given the opportunity or even the ability to avoid committing sin!
---alan8566_of_uk on 2/14/11

Im still baffled as to why you think God would warn us about committing a sin if theres no danger of us doing it. I believe you are simply in denial because you are afraid.

Saving Faith,
God is the Author and finisher of our faith. True believers are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation. (1 Peter 1:5). The guarantee of our perseverance is build into the New Covenant promise. God says, "I will put My fear in their hearts so that they will not depart from Me" ( Jer. 32:40). When Scripture warns us against falling away (Heb. 10:26-29) the warnings and pleas are among the means God uses to secure our perseverance in the faith. Notice that the warnings and the promises often appear side by side. When Jude urges believers, "keep yourselves in the love of God" He immediately points them to God, "who is able to keep you from stumbling" Jude 24.

From Wikipedia

A shipwreck is what remains of a ship that has wrecked, either sunk or beached. Whatever the cause, a sunken ship or a wrecked ship is a physical example of the event: this explains why the two concepts are often overlapping in English. A shipwreck could be called a wreck if the structure is still recognizable or a wreckage if it is not recognizable anymore. The United Nations estimates that there are more than 3 million shipwrecks on the ocean floor.

There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling,
One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

mike-- I don't think the crowd that would hinder the blind man from meeting Jesus HAD any faith to begin with.
Nothing to destroy.

But after the blind man was healed, surely some had faith that they hadn't had before.

No, God doesn't always give what we ask for.
A seven yr. old may ask his parents for a motorcycle. They give him a bicycle instead. Does he lose faith in his parents? Not usually, though he may be disappointed.
---Donna66 on 2/9/11

mike, these are some of the things the lord said.

Mat 26:23 And he answered and said, He that dippeth his hand with me in the dish, the same shall betray me.

Mar 14:18 And as they sat and did eat, Jesus said, Verily I say unto you, One of you which eateth with me shall betray me.

Luk 22:21 But, behold, the hand of him that betrayeth me is with me on the table.

Joh 13:18 I speak not of you all: I know whom I have chosen: but that the scripture may be fulfilled, He that eateth bread with me hath lifted up his heel against me.

I agree with MarkV.
When you say that is why faith is destroyed.
Think about it.
---TheSeg on 2/8/11

Faith can be overthrown by bad doctrine and shipwrecked by the deceptfulness of sin.

Its in there. Denying it wont make the scriptures go away.

Mike, for the life of me I don't know where you get what you said from Luke 18:35-43.
"but the crowd who led the way said SHUT UP!
many have faith but when they ask for a fish they are given a snake.
that is why faith is destroyed."

The crowd did not say "SHUT UP" and no where does it state that faith is destroyed. I don't know how you could come out with that from that passage. In fact the whole crowd saw what Jesus did, and gave praise to God.

Matthew 7:24-27

"Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house, and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.

And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house, and it fell: and great was the fall of it."

The seg// I did know what Donna... meant, I wanted her to bring up Abraham and Isaac. Had she done so, I would have stopped//

So whoever responds to your post (whether or not it's addressed to them), has to be a mind reader. You couldn't just bring up Abraham yourself. No, that would be too straightforward.
You'd rather talk in riddles to make other people squirm.
I think that's your real mission here.

MarkV, Then all I can say is Nothing!
I have the Septuagint also.

Moses in the law of God did say:
Anyone taken in adultery such should be stoned to death.
So they did what God in the law commanded them to do.
But, they didnt learn from it. Just follow it. (A test?)

Believe me! I understand how one can say or even believe God is testing us.
But see to me, there is only one test or a judgment. Nothing else!

But to tell someone or let one believe they are being tested by God.
When the lord clearly said therell be a Day of Judgment. Is misleading!

Some things I believe, I dare not share.
They are impossible!
God bless you all.
---TheSeg on 2/7/11

The Seg, thank you for your response brother. I had done a long study on this a few years ago on Gen. 22:1 had been a problem for me because of that word, "Test." The New King James uses "Test" while the Old King James used "temp." The word is "Nasah" meaning to test, try, prove. In most places this verb carries with it the idea of testing the quality of someone or something through a demonstration of stress. In the case of Abraham it is not tempt since God tempts no man, what God was doing was "refining" Abraham's character. He did the same thing to Hezekiah in 2 Chr. 32:31. Because God wants us to walk more closely to His way (Ex. 16:4, Deut. 8:2, Judg. 2:22, Ps. 26:12)
---Mark_V. on 2/7/11

MarkV, I did know what Donna and everyone meant, right from the beginning.
The reason I did it, I wanted her to bring up Abraham and Isaac. And look who bring him up.

Had she done so, I would have stopped. But she didnt she started bringing up just human frailty.

Gen 22:1 And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am.

Not a test, a temptation! So, I dont equate "test" with a temptation. As some do!
But, trial is not a better word!

Joh5:22 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:
To have a judgment you must have a judge!

The Seg, when the word "test" is used together with God, it does give the illusion God does not know something and is trying to find out. I believe Donna66 use the word only because it is use by commantaries but in no way do I believe she meant it to be that God does not know something. Since she knows of the Sovereignty of God. The word is use with Abraham, that it was a test by God on Abrahams faith. And of course God already knew what kind of faith he had since He gave it to him. When Donna66 saw that using "test" was the wrong word to use, she tried to correct it, but you then questioned her next word. Donna66 does great in answering, and it was only a mistake. I also thank you for standing for the Truth.
---Mark_V. on 2/6/11

I believe God uses tests to show us our weaknesses and our strengths. The test is not for understanding by God. Since it is certain he already knows everything. The test is more self introspective than anything else. Test expose to us our weaknesses and our strengths.

Seg--How about trials like these: a rebellious teenager, a failing parent with alzheimers, an unfaithful mate, a chronic physical problem.. "thorn in the side" like Paul's. The list goes on and on. Everybody has trials.

Or do you think these are not trials? Do you think God doesn't allow them? What's important is one must not have a false sense that we are wonderful and special in the eyes of the Maker, who's God Almighty. Witnessing half the Word of God is not witnessing the Truth. It's really important one knows who they are when they stand before God Almighty. Maybe some Scripture would help to remind us,

"And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou?" Daniel 4:35

Test us? Test what? God commanded Adam (who represented all of mankind who come after him) and he failed with flying colors earning all man death. So, what is it that you can achieve when the first man couldn't in obedience? And that was to only obey one command from God.

Now we have not only the ten commandments but 900 others in Leviticus and another 600 in the New Testament, and you think that God wants to test us? Paul reminded us that the law was only to make sin known. And we are reminded of how sinful we are by the Word of God.

What Adam lost for mankind, Jesus Christ restored at Calvary. And only through the Justification by Faith, God separates His people from the world He has condemned with the unsaved souls.

For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:

He went on to say.
Ye judge after the flesh, I judge no man. And yet if I judge, my judgment is true: for I am not alone, but I and the Father that sent me.

And he said unto him, Man, who made me a judge or a divider over you?

Who are you looking for?

The seq---Do you equate "test" with a temptation?
The Bible doesn't speak of "tests", let alone define them.

I should have more accurately used the word "trial" (which is what many people mean when they speak of a "test") God never tempts any man to sin, the Scripture is clear about that.
I think of a "trial" as involving much more than a one time choice. It is rather a situation that exercises our responsiveness to God and and our fruit of the spirit in multiple ways.

1Pe 1:7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

Lori--We aren't tested so God can learn something about us. There is nothing about any of us He doesn't already know.

The tests come to show us something about God...and most often something about ourselves. We may discover God's strength and our own weakness.
We may learn that, though we may be faithless, God is always faithful to us. A test is sometimes the only way we see the results of errors in our beliefs and attitudes.

These tests are not graded, not "pass-fail". They are simply for our instruction.

Tests show us our strengths, courage and sincerity for a certain thing or person. The same way we should test things and people in our lives sometimes. But we should be ready to accept the truth of what we find out. The truth is ugly and evil, sometimes. We must remember: we are not God.

How is it you come to know for a FACT through personal experience you will never be forsaken?

Yea, one can quote scripture all they want ( head knowledge) however God wants us to have Heart Knowledge! Growing in the Grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ is HEART PROVEN KNOWLEDGE that brings us to maturity( fruitfulness)...That knowledge comes through the Holy Spirit to Christians only, changing us from Glory to Glory by the Spirit of the Lord.

This is why so many Christians CAN lay down their life for truth...because they have Proven through trials His truths, producing fruit. When a false profession is made and trials come, they turn away proving they are not saved at all!

I know that God tests us to see where we stand in our faith but if he already knows what we are going to do why are we still tested? I dont question my faith I just believe....but for some reason the answer for this one didnt come to me. Do You have an answer :) ?
---Lori on 11/3/10

I believe the answer to this question lies in understanding "cause-and-effect". For every effect there must be a clause. It is impossible to understand up without conceiving of down! The statement that something is in cannot be understood without implying that it is not out. Big is the symbol of something opposite of little!!

The only way to escape the human limitations involved is to be God.
Of course we understand that God is beyond limitations. But in order to deal with man apparently it is necessary for God to test us.

I have been going through a lot of trials. It seems that in just 15 months I have lost so much and debts everywhere. Then after 15 months of tantrums and storming at God, I am realizing why I am going through this and even though it is not fun, I find I want my soul more than I want things.

Remember God does not give us more then we can handle with our burdons, also look at James 1:13 it says "When under trial, let no one say:'I am being tried by God.' For with evil things God cannot be tried nor does he himself try anyone." then finish it by verses 14-15.

God tests his children for several of reason. In De 13:3, it says "The Lord your God is testing you to find out whether you love him with all your heart and with all your soul". And to love love God is to obey Him Jn 14:15. In some cases, testing comes through suffering, hardship, difficult circumstance, and trouble but the Good News is that, James 1:1-4 says, for us to consider it all Joy whenever we face trials of many kind because through perseverance, it's developing character.

God tests us to teach, strengthen us to be in his image by appreciating more what we have, in enjoying working for our dreams, in loving others just as they are as he loves us no matter who we are-how many times we fall & question him, to help others as he helps us everyday within nature b/c we are not alone, & to love ourselves as much as he loves us; so, if you think about it, it is not just God testing us but us. Sure things can get hard but God sends that to awaken us to be better & remember him.

"Remember how the Lord your God led you all the way in the desert these forty years to humble you and to test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands." (Deuteronomy 8:3)

The Lord already knows our hearts. I believe one reason testing comes is to help us know our own hearts. When we are aware of the progress we've made spiritually, it is encouraging and increases our confidence. We become stronger Christians.

You must start using a capital G in front of His name. God tests us for alot of reasons. I have started asking Him for a grade. They are for strengthening, teach us obedience, endurance, longsuffering (patience),and how to outlast the devil, and we learn to trust God. Another good reason for tests--- We learn to take one day at a time, "because today has enough evils of its own", Saith Jesus Christ.

Romans 5:1-5, "being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also:
knowing that tribulation worketh patience;
And patience, experience;
and experience, hope:
And hope maketh not ashamed;
because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us."

With out a test or trial we have no testimony.

Testing helps us grow up. It's not for God's benefit. He knows where we are in our Christian crawl, walk, run. God's "tests show us" where we're at as we strive to grow into His likeness. No tests, no progress! (2 Tim. 2:15)

Threw many tests and trials we will enter in..If the test doesn't kill us it will surely strengthen us.
