Fallen Into A Deep Depression
I've recently fallen into deep depression. I have prayed, read the Bible, tried counceling, and done everything else I can to get out of this, but it isn't working. Nothing out of the ordinary has happened, so I can't understand this. Any suggestions on what else I can do?
Moderator - See a doctor because it could be a chemical imbalance. Also have you fasted?

I do not believe in chemical Imbalance. There are NO Christians born-again counselors. This chemical imbalance is trumpted up by unbelievers who do not know God. There is always a reason for depression. Satan being the main source. He hides. He is also off the hook by getting people to believe in man's wisdom instead of God's wisdom. What a shame that is.

Definitely see your family doctor or a psychiatrist. You may need antidepressants.

Depression: chemical thing maybe. Go to an alternative medicine practitioner. Md's will just give you drugs. Two suggestions: Psalms 46:10a --Be still and know I am God, don't play with this, let God get past your thoughts, the clutter. Two: help someone else, every day, not the same person, help someone every day. A visit, a call, a letter, a gift, what ever, get your mind off yourself. Make today the most enjoyable you can. Yesterday is gone, tomorrow may never come. So today is all you have.

Sometimes the best medicine for depression, that is, if it's not physical or a chemical imbalance, is to find someone who is in need of help, maybe an older lady who can't get out, and focus on her needs. Life has a way of reflecting back on you. When you bring a smile to someone, that smile is contageous, and you might find yourself smiling.

It took a while, but God and his mercy bought me into brighter days. Some of the ways deliverance came to me was through lifestyle changes. I stopped eating certain types of food and begin excercising. I flooded myself with the Word of God and stopped hanging around negative people. I stopped reading nonchristian magazines and books as well as looking at scary movies. I also started seeing a chistian counselor and began looking at my past in relationship to the choices and decesions I was making. Joy9988

Please be encouraged. When depression weighs down on you like a dark, bleak blanket, God is a big God and He has freedom and deliverance for you. Jesus delivered me from depression in 1990. I would be happy to share my testimony with you. Write me at my CNet penpal addy Dory7973. I'm praying for you right now. God bless!

You may need antidepressants to get you back on feet for awhile. Wellbutrin is great for this. I don't think drugs maybe the total answer for most. Try a good diet, exercise to get those good chemicals flowing. Counseling if you've had major life changes or bad past from childhood. Even our childhood can effect our present. Try reading 2 books-The Blessing by Gary Smalley 1st then Bad Childhood-Good Life by Dr. Laura Schlesinger. It's amazing how God can show us what we need. I'm praying for you.
