There is a fabulous read out there called "Thy Will Be Done On Earth" by Russell. It is a great book on this very topic. A book every Christian should read. Enjoy.

Wonderful ES, Wonderful. As always God will not be without a witness so to answer the question God will accomplish his will on earth because he spoke it, and he will move human, heaven and earth to accomplish his will.
His will has actually been accomplished because he spoke his full plan before the foundation of the earth.

By individuals doing the works of Christ.

God's vision & mission for man is stated in Gen 1 26,27. That's his original plan ...Be fruitful and increase in number, FILL THE EARTH and SUBDUE IT. RULE over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and OVER EVERY LIVING CREATURE that moves on the ground" Man was to be KING over the Earth as God is KING of the heavens.Ps 115:16 The highest heavens belong to the LORD, but the earth he has given to man. ps 37:9 "...but those who hope in the LORD will INHERIT THE LAND" Ps 37:29 The righteous will inherit the land and DWELL in it FOREVER. Jesus came to restore GOD'S KINGDOM on earth. The kingdom that Adam handed over to satan.

"'In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice.'" (Genesis 22:18) So, the obedience of Abraham is part of the real historical reason why people are blessed, like you say, Donna (o:

How does God accomplish His will here? We are "the salt of the earth", Jesus says in Matthew 5:13. We spread God's blessing . . . by means of the Holy Spirit effecting people through us . . . so that the *effect* of God's own love is spread, instead of just how we humans would do things for people. The grains of salt can be rough and abrasive, but the dissolved salt in the living and loving water . . .

Warwick --- yes, it makes sense, since we literally live ON the planet earth but don't know what shape, if any, Heaven has.

>>>I suppose His will can only be done here when we submit to Him and do what He commands us to do.<<<

This opens a very big theological question.
His will is often accomplished by the obedience of men. And we should pray to be fully submitted to Him. But if it is His WILL, won't it be done eventually simply because He is GOD...even if men are not submitted to Him? (or maybe He only wills what someone is willing to do). This is a mystery to me.

Donna maybe it means that we live 'on' the surface of the earth, as we do, but that one day we will live 'in' (within) heaven?

I suppose His will can only be done here when we submit to Him and do what He commands us to do. Until then....

trey -- Most translations of the Bible say, "ON earth" rather than "IN earth". I'm not a student of original languages, but it would appear that, in this case, "in" and "on" mean the same thing.

There is a great book out there called "Thy Will Be Done On Earth: Understanding God's Will for You" by Robert Russell.
It may be a slightly different take on the topic than some have mentioned. I find it one of the best books I have read in my many years as a Christian.

Many of God's people today misquote, and then misinterpret the above mentioned scripture. The scripture reads:

Mt 6:10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done IN earth, as it is in heaven.

Now read:
Gen 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul.

Asking for the Lord's will to be done ON earth is different than asking for his will to be done IN earth. IN EARTH = IN ME.

In the beginning war broke out in Heaven.john.8:44.Rev.12:7 Now the earth was formless and void.Gen.1:2 Thy will be done on earth,as it is in Heaven.Matt.6:10 the war continues here on earth,Satan separated us from God and God save those who believe in the right way and truth.

His WILL is accomplished here through each one of our WILL. They are the same. PEACE.

Will of God: "I will have mercy, and not sacrifice": Ps 40:6; Ps 51:16; Hos 6:6; Mt 9:13; Mt 12:7; Heb 10. Do the will of God precedes receive the promise. JC came to do the will of God (Heb 10) got finished before the cross: John 17. James 1:15 says sin, when "it is finished", brings forth death (not life). Probating the will of God is imperative. If stuck in probate, no inheritance to anyone. Hint: Search "probating". The GRACE of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.

MP: If you were a landlord with really bad tennents, would you burn your house down or evict the trouble makers? God destroyed this world once before but we still live on it. The "new earth" is more of a "renewed earth" not a new planet!
---1st_cliff on 1/24/06

John, in Heaven God is the absolute authority with none other to oppose His authority.
There is no sin. There is complete unity and proper worship of Him.
We pray that these things could come about on earth.
We only have control of ourselves so make these points valid in your life.
God accomplishes His will by each of us being willing and obedient to His instructions.
---Elder on 1/24/06

God's will has already been decided "for" earth, as it is(written in the book of life) in heaven. The bible tells us what is going to happen. If it doesn't, then that would make him a liar.

Cliff, THIS earth will not always by our home. We are told that there will be a NEW earth. This one will be destroyed.

The kingdom on earth is when Jesus returns has his 1000 year reign. I have to go to work, and don't have time to look it up. It is in Revelation.
Heaven is not the same as Jesus' kingdom.

Prayer releases the power of God. When Christians pray, God releases the power of the Holy Spirit to accomplish His will. Prayer is one of the main ways through which God has chosen to release His power and to accomplish His will in the world. God is Sovereign, He is not limited to using mere men women but He has chosen to use us when we pray to Him in Jesus' Name.

John; The preceding verse is "Thy Kingdom COME" Not take me to your Kingdom! The earth is man's home and always will be Isa.45.18 " This is what the Lord says ..who fashioned and made the earth..did not create it to be EMPTY ,but formed it to be INHABITED" (emphesis mine)

This is a deep question; First almighty GOD uses men here on earth to accomplish his will being done. As a born-again Christian a person may ask our heavenly Father to use us to accomplish His will. Certainly men have severe limitations but, praise the Lord, God doesn't have any limitations, For example he made a donkey to speak and we know that he can use us. I believe every Christian's desire should be to be used by our heavenly Father.
