The important thing to our Lord was salvation, it should be the most imprtant thing to us also

2 Peter 3:15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation, even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you,

There is an URGENTCY with salvation. Here's the thing - 10 out of 10 die, 10 out of 10 will either go to Heaven or Hell for eternity. No one knows when they will die. You could read this blog, then get in your car, get into an accedent and die right then. God forbid that happen, but it could. Do you know where you will go if that happens? Tomarrow is promised to NO person. Hell is so bad, we as Christians should NOT wish it on ANYBODY (including our worst enemies). This is why salvation is so URGENT. The Bible says that unless you are born again, you will not enter into Heaven. Jesus said He is the ONLY way to salvation.

AMen Mima!

The Bible says TODAY is the day of salvation.
That NO man is promised tomorrow!
It is urgent, very urgent. We don't know when death will come for us and our chance for salvation will be over with our last breath.
Who knows if they will get the chance like the thief on the cross?
None of us know. That is why it is so urgent.

Urgent, Yes.
This the day for salvation. God knows if when you will be saved & the time manner. Then door Of The salvation of God will close to us gentiles.

When the door of salvation closes to us gentiles, then The Lord will return to His 1st. chosen, the Jewish people.

I have never heard that statement at all. But I do think that many rely on "the last moment" to prepare themselves for death and that is really foolish and risky. As mentioned already on this site, one cannot know when Jesus will return, and there are no guarantees of when or how we will die.

Mima::What makes this statement realistic?"Be prepared you know not the time or the hour.Death shall come like a thief in the night when you least expect.Be Prepared at all times".You have heard of sudden deatd.Need I say more are you in good standing according to HIS WORD.This is the REALITY.

Yes I do. If we were to die physically without being saved, then we are hellbound. That simple and sad.:)
---jody_martin on 9/9/07

Unless you know when you are going to die and what condition your heart will be in at the time there is not hurry. But the Bible says 1 Thessalonians 5:2 For you yourselves know full well that the day of the Lord will come just like a thief in the night. Or Mark 13:33 Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.

The fact that they're life might end a few minutes after making that statement. People have dropped dead from heart attacks, died in car accidents...I might die in a few minutes...no one knows when their time will end. It's not worth taking the chance.

Who knows when they are going to leave this earth. Today is the day of YOUR salvation;accepting Christ is not an intellectual exercise but a spiritual one, think with your heart, not your head ALL that Jesus did for you. And remember Eternity is a long long time!!!
---Mishon on 3/25/07

Because a person can't get saved when they want to. God has to convict that person of their sins first then they must realize they need Jesus, they need to ask him to forgive them and come into their life. Alot of people think they have plenty of time and they can get saved when "their ready". People don't fear God like they need to. They use God as a crutch only crying out to him when their in trouble, and when things are okay, they turn their back on him, and they think they are okay with God.

What makes this statement unrealistic?

We don't get saved. (as if it is something we do).

We are saved. (The Father calls and prompts our acceptance of that call).

To refuse that prompt is to refuse His outstretched hand. Afterwards they may call upon Him and recieve no answer.

Today is the day of salvation, not tomorrow when it might be too late. People who say they'll get saved some day probably never will. I had a girlfriend who said that a few years ago .. I just kicked the dust off. She was determined to not believe and so it goes with many.
---Helen_5378 on 6/29/06

Urgent? It's imperative. No one knows if he/she has another minute on this earth. No salvation - no heaven - no doubt about it.
---Terry on 6/28/06

mi ma
walk through a cemetary, look over all the dead then understand most met the LORD unsaved.

There might not be a some day...you could die immediately and then go to hell because you aren't saved.

Many die without asking for salvation, so it's wise to secure it while we can, and foolish to put it off when the opportunity is at hand."here, now is the accepted time; here, now is the day of salvation. to seek of God, if perhaps they might feel after him and find, although indeed being not far from each one of us. today if yo all will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation. So I swore in my wrath, they will not enter into my rest.II Corinth. 6:2; Acts 17:27; Hebr. 3:7,8,11.

Anyone who says they are "going to get saved some day" needs to read Proverbs chapter 1.
---Bruce5656 on 1/29/06

Number of days on earth and our death are appointed times. Cant go to the Father unless Holy Spirit draws and convicts. Some will never heed His calling or warning. When people truly realize that they missed the boat, and enter the tribulation period, they will hop the first thing smoking to the nearest church and repent. There will be a huge revival during the tribulation period. Behold now is the acceptable time, now is the day of salvation, now is the hour closer then when we first believed.
