Is The Bible Faith And Facts

I use the old testament, mainly prophesies, to try to show my unsaved loved ones that the bible must be true. I shown them Isaiah and how Christ's coming was foretold. Some tell me I'm wasting my time and they must just believe in faith only. Do you agree?

Rickey, the answer is in:

Ephesians 1:3-5

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,

Notlaw99, show me that according to scripture.
Salvation is a choice. I didn't have to chose Jesus & neither did you.

Romans 10:9-10 DOES NOT say, "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou MIGHT be saved."
---Rickey on 5/29/08

Romans 10:13 says," For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."

Notice it says, "Whosoever" meaning "anyone".
God is so awesome that He gave everyone the choice to choose or deny Jesus. True not everyone will be saved, but salvation is for everyone.(John 3:16-17)

God would be unjust to say that salvation is only for some, but not all.

Absolutely not, you are not wasting your time! Keep up the good work! God gives us prophecies, in part, so that our faith can be strengthened when they come to pass exactly as predicted.
Try using the Daniel prophecies as well that point to the exact time of Christ. The 490 year prophecy as well as the 2300 year prophecy that marks the beginning of the end-time. Good luck :-)

Rickey, God has completed fore knowledge of every action or inaction a person will ever take the determination of who he shall offer his irresistible grace on that basis. God and only God initiate the process that leads to salvation. God select those who he wants to be in his family and rejects those who he does he does not want. The choice is exclusively his ho action or inaction a person can take can change ones status. All actions that people take are a result of salvation not preconditions for it.

Notlaw99, I have heard many folks say that, but according to scripture that is far from true. God didn't make you anyone chose Jesus. We made that choice our own self. God sacrificed Jesus so that anyone who chooses to get saved gets saved.(John 3:16-17)
Also it is up to us to make the choice not God.(Romans 10:9-10)
If it was only up to God then us praying for folks would do no good. If what you say is true then witnessing to folks is worthless.
But, praise God that He wants all to be saved.

There is no action that any one can take that will save them selves or any one else. God chose who he wanted for salvation before the creation of the world go back and read Ephesians Chapter one again, its a done deal.

Riduculous for someone to tell you that your wasting your time! While you are witnessing, they are condemning you! Remember Jesus said to His disciples, Tarry in Jerusalem and you will receive power when the HS comes upon you and you will be my wintesses! Acts 1:7-8 Keep up the good work!

So I made a list of the folks I wanted to get saved and kept on confessing the Word. Find a scripture(s) to stand on and confess them. Praise God for them being saved & enjoy your salvation & continue to be yourself and a good example to them. Also sow seeds for there salvation and water those seeds with your praise. (Mark 4:14; Acts 16:25-26)

Well, faith comes by hearing(Romans 10:17). So as they hear the word it is up to them to respond in faith to it to recieve the free gift of salvation. Don't put pressure on yourself to get them saved meaning continually talking to them about it. Just use your faith to get them saved. Proverbs 18:20-21; Job 22:28; 2Corinthians 4:13 all talk about speaking or declaring. The Holy Spirit guided me to do this because I was worried about my family's salvation. So He taught me to confess the Word.

No. Studying the Bible is not a waste of time. The Word is bread to us, and life to the bones. We are to study to show ourself honorable to God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, dividing the word of truth justly. And we are to be ready always to give an answer to every man that asks you a reason for the hope that is in you. II Timothy 2:15; I Peter 3:15.

the bible reveals god nature, intent, commands, covenants, and more.its sorta like a owners manual telling you how the kingdom works
and how you are to paerticipate. sorta like a matinence manual for the soul.the bible tells of the word being a two edged sword, the bible is the word of god and it needs to be in you first.when christ was tempted what did he do?3 times he used the word against satan.

Both sides are right. First you need FAITH & understanding God to believe & follow the bible as a faithful servent in Jesus, however having the OT & seeing what is revealed throughout history shows Jehovah keeps his word & it is not just something written in a book, but in Jehovahs book.

You are to be commended. Seeing bible proofs prophecies made and fulfilled is a proven way of building faith in the word. Mature faith can be founded on Blind trust. But beginning faith, like a tender plant, must be nurtured slowly and provided an absolute provable proofs.

Thank you very much RICKEY. Their names are Peter, Mary, Rebecca, Stephen, Helen and David. Thanks also WES. I did start teaching salvation but when they told me that anyone could have written the bible I began using O.T. to show how many prophesies came true in N.T. hoping they would see that it must have been written by someone who knew the future. ELOY thanks for the encouragement.

sharing your faith by showing them scriptures in the Bible is not a waste of time. Please continue it, it may be that just one word or seed that you plant will one day get them to consider it.

The basics of the faith is that they need to hear about Jesus and accept his work on the cross and allow him to be their savior to be saved. If you preach the word, the Holy Spirit will teach them. I would teach them salvation first, then teach prophecy later. Or at least tie them together.

Everyone that I kept thanking God for their salvation got saved that year within 3-months as well as at least on person per day on campus. I am still believing God for the salvation of a friend though. If you don't mind I'll just join my faith with your's for their salvation. (Matthew 18:19; Amos 3:3) What are their names???
---Rickey on 1/29/06

Sow seeds by leading other folks to the Lord.(Proverbs 11:30) As you do this your sowing seed for your families salvation.(Genesis 8:22) lets us know that as long as we are here on earth we can sow seeds and expect a harvest. While I was leading others to the Lord, He was working on my family. On a Sunday my mom got saved & then the very next day my brother got saved.
