Seeker Sensitive Damage

Over the last 20 years the seeker sensitive movement has dumb-down the theology of the faith. How will this lack of foundational doctrine affect the church in the next generation? Have we sold our soul to be popular in a culture that conform every thing and everyone to itself?Have we lost the salt?

Luke 9:24For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will save it. 25What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit his very self? 26If anyone is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.

"What does it profit a man if he wins the whole world and loses his own soul" So---Michelle , what is a soul worth. Is it not worth everything that is in the world?
---Mima on 11/16/07

The worth of your soul.

The ransom of a life is too costly and the price one can pay can never suffice.
Psalms 48:8

Only the Blood of Christ can cover the ransom.

To turn from the Babylonian life is to live in the fullness of the Revelation of Jesus Christ,
drinking in the depths of God.
Some may prefer the bittersweet drink at the party.
The Bible says, whoever cleanses himself - who separates himself from contact with corrupting influences - will be a vessel set apart and useful for honorable and noble purposes, consecrated and profitable to the Master, fit and ready for any good work.

2Timothy 2:21

Social gospel, one-world temporary comfort zone is emerging but God has His Ministry, the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
The delight of three paydays/offerings to cater to the flesh will not be the motive of the Ministry that God is lifting up. The Name of Jesus Christ will be lifted up in His Church.

You are concerned about this new generation of seeker sensitives? I can encourage you that this new generation is walking in an area that exceeds what the church has walked in. Christ is the builder of the Church. He's doing a great job. It may not look like it to some of us but I have to believe He knows best.

Didn't have a name for it, but seen it in action here in Exeter. The dumbing down of the message, unchristian music to save the young, when the only ones who ever go are already believers. How will this affect us? 2 Thes. 2 speaks of the great apostasy at the end of times, well if all you have ever heard of is Jeesus your big brother, the never closing bank, your going to die for a cash machine?

Thanks Lupe.

I have not heard of this movement except on ChristiaNet.
I agree the Bible message should not be watered down.
But sometimes do we need to be a lille "Softlee softlee, catchee monkey"? We need to make them want to come in, and then once they are in, make them realise WHY they have come in and WHY they need to be in. (& I do not mean in the building, I mean "in", meeting and talkng and eventually praying with us)

The seeker sensitive movement seems to be another step on the latter to ecumenicalism. Seeker sensitive churches do in fact speak and teach to itching ears. The movement strength lies within its numbers. Numbers denote strength whether those numbers are right or wrong.

Ulrika, I believe the seeker sensitive churches are the ones that cater to what the people want and not on the Word of God. They look to see what the people like and want to hear and this way they get more people to come and enjoy themselves. But Scripture is put on the back burner and it does nothing to convict others of their sins. Preachers as Charles Spurgeon were very worried about what was happening to the church, that he spoke very much against it when he lived.

I have never heard of the "seeker sensitive movement". Is it like being lukewarm?
---Ulrika on 2/12/06

Not just who is preaching, but who is living? Who is D O I N G ?? -taking in the homeless to their own home as
Scripture says to always have a place ready, to be constantly ready with hospitality(personally, not generically), to risk or give up everything to belong to Jesus.

There are still preahers and churches that are preaching the true word of God, but, for the most part people are becoming more and more interested in only what they want to hear. They also want only what will make them feel good. They only want to hear that God is love, but, are not interested in any of the other attributes such as His righteousness, or justice. God's will is still going to be accomplished, because He is Sovereign.

Yes, I believe that popularity and packed churches are number one on many churches lists of priorities these days.
