Wealth Scorners Jealous

Some Christians think it is more pious to be poor and they scorn wealth. I think that if God has blessed someone with money either through inheritance or a well paid job they would be in a better position to use that money to serve the Lord. Are those who scorn wealth actually jealous?

f.f. the concept that those with the wealthiest would be the most generous is disproved. Look at the Dallas Morning News article by Scott Burns. IRS statistics show that the richest in this country, those making above $250,000, give only 3% of their aggregate income while the poorest in this country give an average of 11%. Greed is killing the U.S. I am not jealous of the rich, just saddened by their actions. Speaking of inheritance look how many problems it caused in the bible.

All rich people didn't get it through the blessing of God. It was said, a rich man has his reward already. The thing wrong in this country is that most people have more than they need and are not very thankful for it.

To Rickey, God will supply your needs but not youw wants. Do you follow word-faith or the prosperty gospel? A man that follows after riches can be most miserable. You don't have to pray for money, God see's to your needs.

I have been on every continent (except Antartica) and I've seen poverty the likes of which does not exist in this country. A Nigerian believer, visiting the U.S., once said to me, " I don't understand. In your churches everyone prays 'bless me, bless me'...yet you are the most blessed people on earth. No matter what the Lord gives you, it seems you want more." I had no answer for him. But I've never forgotten what he said.

I can see reasons why some are jealous.
1. Hosea 4:6- My people are destroyed(cut off) for lack of knowledge; They don't know how to get wealth so they are too proud or jealous to ask someone else.
2. They don't know it is the will of God for us to prosper(3John 2; 2Corinthians 8:9)
3. They don't know that God delights in prospering us, His kids(Proverbs 13:22)
I mean God enjoys prospering His sons & daughters.(Deuteronomy 8:18; Psalms 35:27)

Being wealthy should not cause anyone to be jealous. It's only money and it can't buy anything that will endure. If God see's to it that we should have money at some point of our lives, we should pray for wisdom and use it to glorify Him.

God has blessed some with money. Randy, look at the way people act now over inheritance. There is not many things worse than greed. I have seen it many times.

No, we suffer great injustices being poor, we have no house or car or family or pet or garden, like the rich. When the rich do not share their wealth with the poor, but instead let the poor suffer, then the poor are not jealous of the rich, rather they are rightly angry at the rich for not helping. And BTW, so is God angry at the wealthy who are stingy. God commands the "haves" to give to the "have nots". Please read Matthew 25:41-46; Luke 16:19-31; I Timothy 6:17-19; James 2:2-7.

If I had alot of money, alot of people wouldn't be poor or average anymore. I would help so many people and the churches. But that is my desire to do so. Not everyone has a desire to help those in need. I don't have alot of money now, but that doesn't stop me from helping others when needed, but if I had more money I could help more financially.

Sadly, the same has been shown on the UK
