Who Goes To Hell

If a child is born in a remote area, grows to be adult, lives a normal life for his culture, - but never hears of the gospel or Jesus Christ before he/she dies, is that person automatically sentenced to the lake of fire on judgement day?

the decision as who goes to hell or not is all in the hand of God. The marvelous thing, He is the Eternal Father who surrounds us, (not only western people,) with His boundless Grace.

Rom 1:21-22 "For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse:
Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful, but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened."

Rom 2:14-15 "For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:
Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another

Acts 17:30

Yes, I am afaid so. To be honest with you the teachings of the gospel did not save me. God saved me, thank you Jesus. He is most powerful, swept me right off my feet. It was His Blood which saved me, and God flashing HELL right infront of me didn't hurt any either. Power, my friend, is the gospel of Jesus Christ. Have you experienced that power? I love you.

Jesus didn't come here to be worshipped,
He came here to fill the GAP between Man & God, SO we could worship God and be heard thru his Blood(Death, stripes, cross, ect.)he shed for us.

Two verses of Scripture come to mind concerning your question. One is Romans 1:20 which states man is without an excuse and the other is Romans 5:13 which is sort of an exception to the rule. (However, I personally lean towards Roman 1:20)In other words, your question really doesn't have an "iron clad" answer. It's almost mute anyway since most of the world at least knows about salvation and how to obtain it. (If my information is correct.)

Mima - You have to worship Jesus Christ as the One who died on the Cross and rose from the dead. Any other way, He is not Jesus.
---Helen_5378 on 4/9/07

The only answer to this question is that all who are not saved go to Hell. God knows who will accept His Son Jesus so He gets the gospel to them. Otherwise that person does not go to Heaven.
---Helen_5378 on 4/9/07

Great question; this is not just a theoretical question but of course is reality in many cases. I believe the Bible speaks to this question in Revelation 14 versus six and seven. You will notice that the name Jesus Christ is not used here but if a person worships him that made heaven and earth and the sea, and the fountains of Watters that person would be worshiping Jesus Christ. Another words he would be accepting Jesus Christ.

No one goes to Heaven except those who accept Jesus and obey God's Word. Lupe Read Romans Chapter 2. It talks about those who do the things of the law by nature but they are a law unto themselves. Even people who hear the Law but don't do the Law won't go to Heaven,we must be doers of the Word/Law. God wants us to increase the Kingdom of Heaven, that's our directions,to bring people to Christ and only through Christ is salvation/Heaven found. God gave a plan whereby men are saved and only that is valid.

Romans 2:12 For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: And as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law. To be sent to hell one must know about Jesus and reject His Word, choosing to continue in sin. If one never hears the Word how can they be punished for not receiving it? Stated above,it is one who sins under the law that is judged by the law, read the whole chapter of Romans 2. New Testament it is Law of Love, which covers all of 10 Commmandments when obeyed.

I believe that God will see to it that every one becomes aware of the gospel and of His existence. He is sovereign, after all.

A man can not be held accountable for what he did not know. The Father knows all, even the heart of man. If this person truly had no opportunity to hear the gospel of Christ, he shall be raised in the first resurrection and taught during the millennium reign. He will have a choice. " This gospel of the kingdom (The good news of The Fathers salvation through the atoning sacrifice of Jesus). shall be preached in all the world for a witness into all nations; and then shall the end come.

God knew us even before we were formed in the womb, he knows our beginningsand he knows our endings and Yes he knows even whether we would live and and live again or die and die again.
---Carla5754 on 5/5/06

I believe that just as we are to walk in the spiritual light we have received, those who have not been shown God's word (through no fault of their own), will be shown before judgement. They will then have the choice to make. Just my understanding of the Bible.

M.L. Based on figures from Wycliff, they have translations in most langages. This was about 10 years ago - sure even more has been done since that time. Even tribes in some of the remote islands have Bibles and missionary's stationed there. (Even if they didn't have either the Bible or the missionary's, they are still without excuse, they worship the creation instead of the creator. Romans 1:20)

John 15:22 If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had -not had sin:- but now they have no cloak for their sin.

So if they had no sin because they weren't told about sin. I don't think that Our heavenly father will hold that against them. But then again God can do what ever he wants and we are not to Judge who goes to heaven and who goes to hell. Jesus will be the judge of that.

2. they became harsh, judgemental, and self-righteously scornful of others. Jesus was refering to the Pharasees. He repeated the same criticism in 12:7. You keep forgetting to read the whole context and just pick a verse. Where is this righteous nature that you speak of that people have that are going to heaven?
---Lupe2618 on 2/16/06

Eloy, the people Jesus was talking about were the self-righteous. If you read the whole context Jesus is quoting from (Hos. 6:6; (1 Sam 15:22; Mic.6:6-8) which emphasizes the absolute priority of the law's moral standards over the ceremonial requirements. The Pharisees tended to focus on the outward, ritual, and ceremonial aspects of God's law- to the neglect of its inward, external, and moral precepts. In doing so

Alan of UK, my pleasure. Also, Jesus said that he did not come to save the righteous, but the sinners; and this is why Jesus went into the highways and into the biways among the sinners, for the well have no need of the physician, but the sinners do.

Can someone point me to the verse for, "Righteous by Nature" I thought Christ inputed righteousness to the person but there might be another way that I have not heard of. I might be wrong and some are righteous already. This is very important because if they are already no one has to evangelize to them. So long as they are kept from hearing the Gospel, they are going to heaven.
---Lupe2618 on 2/15/06

Somewhere in the bible, it says that all will not know Jesus nor hear of him. So therefore if someone has never heard of Jesus, then they can't be saved cause they never heard of him. Jesus judges them on how they live their life, good or bad.

I am inclined to agree that if you don't know what sin is - then you probably aren't guilty. However, at some point, I think a person will still need the Ticket - which is Jesus Christ.

Alan of UK, John 9:41; Romans 2:26,29; James 4:17.

Alan, I've used that scripture reference myself a few times on these blogs when someone asks if someone who has never heard of the Gospel of Jesus Christ will automatically go to hell. I don't believe they will, and the scripture reference I use is Romans 2: 12-16. Hope this is what you're looking for.
---Ann5758 on 2/14/06

Eloy ... "The righteous by nature who never heard the gospel will go to heaven"
I have often wanted to say the same but have not known where the supporting scripture is, although it has been quoted to me before.
Can you help with the Bible reference?

WIVV, what do you mean by this " most of the world at least knows about salvation and how to obtain it. (If my information is correct.)"?

God isn't unjust every person will have the oppurtunity to hear of Jesus before they die.(Romans 10:14-15) God will make a way for everyone to hear the gospel because He is a just God.
---Rickey on 2/14/06

It all depends on how this person lived their life. God gave us a conscience, to know right from wrong. A person doesn't have to know God in order to know that killing someone or raping someone is wrong. God instilled a consience in us when he made us. Not everyone knows God or heard of him. I believe God will judge them accordenly on how they lived their life.
---Rebecca_D on 2/14/06

The righteous by nature who never heard the gospel will go to heaven, but the wicked by nature who never heard the gospel will go to hell, for no wickedness is in heaven.
