In most instances if not all He did it to reward the party's FAITH! P.

Jesus' miracles proved that God was with Him. Jesus' mighty works validated His unique and divine nature. He backed up His claims to deity by demonstrating His power over sickness and disease, over nature, and over life and death itself. One Great miracle that demonstrates conclusively His claim to deity is His Resurrection from the dead, which any born-again believer can certainly testify to.>>>Death could not hold Him. He rose from the dead and showed Himself alive by many.

The miracles sure didn't hurt in making Jesus credible.

I believe Jesus himself answers this question in John 14:11,"Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake."

He performed these miracles to show that he was love. And that through him anything is possible. He showed some people who he was by performing miracles, because they didn't believe he was the Messiah.

greetings.Jesus in no way performed any miracle to prove anything.Thats wasted authority. In all miracles supposed or not Jesus did so acting in and for and in the will of his Father.Jesus' spiritual actions were observed as both good from God and evil from the devil.Thy faith has made you whole.

My father has been talking alot about the miracles of Jesus, lately.
We have a lake that we drive out to. We've been there two days in a row. Dad says, can you imagine Jesus walking across that lake right now? Mom says, I think it would scare me. My husband says, the disciples knew He was not from this world at that very moment. I didn't say anything. I want to remember that moment.

The Bible clearly shows that some of the miracles were performed to show that He was God, or to demonstrate other things. But this reason is not given for all miracles, particularly some of the healing ones. Could it be that He did those out of love and maybe pity?

I am stumbling on Eloy's response. I have heard of people believing that the graves will open up literally but I just thought they were joking. Now I know alot more believe it.

jack, "No man takes my life from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father." John 10:18. The reason Jesus does not know when he is coming back is because he knows that he will come back before he planned too: "And except those days should be shortened, there would no flesh be saved: but for the chosen ones' sake those days will be shortened." Matthew 24:22.

The greatest miracle to me is that Jesus took me a sinner who deserves to go to hell and raised me up and gave me eternal life with Him. Nothing can match that!
---J.P. on 3/7/06

For your information, God the Father raised Jesus from the dead. Also, Jesus does not know when He is coming back. Only the Father does.

Mima, indeed what a day that will be. There is a cemetery here in Pennsylvania where all the graves are purposely facing Eastward, so that when the Lord Returns in the Eastern sky, and the trumpet of God sounds and their graves are opened, that they will all arise facing the Lord to meet him in the air. How awesome indeed that day will be.

The greatest miracle? (in a different context) that "God commendeth his love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Rom. 5:8

3.Another example might be the healing of the man born blind It's a long story.. ended up with the people saying (Jn 9:32-33) "Since the world began it has not been heard that any man openened the eyes of one BORN blind. If this man were not God, he could do nothing". The Pharisees questioned the man and his family, trying to prove the healing a fraud, but were unable to.(Jn 9:1-41)

Sorry for the length, just happened to be studying these healings and they seemed applicable to the question

2. For casting out demons there was a pre scribed ritual, one step of which was to determine the demon's name.(See Matt 5)In the case of the blind and mute man, Jesus followed this ritual, but knew the demon's name which the mute man couldn't speak. The people got the point and said "Is not this the Son of David? (i.e. the Messiah). But it angered the pharisse's who accused Him of using satanic power.Matt: 12: 22-24

1. In some cases, yes. Not so much proof to the people, as to the Pharaisees who had some pre-dertermined "requirements" for their Messiah.Jesus sent the healed leper to the priests "as a testimony to them" (that He was Messiah)Matt 8:4.Jesus knew that the Leper would be subject to a 7 day test by them to PROVE the healing (see Lev 14:1-32)

To Willow; your question humbled me for I realize I have very limited insight. My opinion is Jesus' greatest miracle to date was his resurrection from the dead. But the greatest miracle of all time will be when he raises us from the dead. What a thrill just to contemplate that event!!! Praise the Lord.
