John 15:26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:
John 15:27 "And ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning."

The Spirit of Truth, who proceeds from the Father, sent by the Son.

Godliness? Go figure!

Jesus Christ Is.
Matt.28 v 19 Is Jesus Christ, Colo.2 v 9 Is Jesus Christ.
---Lawrence on 8/16/10

God..Jesus.
Read # Isaiah 9:6
For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given, And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

"It", Oneness.
Oneness believers use fruit, eggs, ice, water, steam - objects to describe an "It".
They use objects to describe God, because the Holy Spirit is an "it" for them.

They do not believe the Holy Spirit is God and they cannot say that He IS, the danger is that they will receive other counterfeit doctrines after they receive this first lie at the moment of their decision to follow Christ.

It is the third part of the Holy Trinity.
---shira on 11/16/07

The Holy Spirit is a male person - referred to in the Bible as "He," not "It."
---jerry6593 on 4/22/07

The person of the Holy Ghost is the third Person of the Trinity. He can laugh, cry, get angry, He can talk, He is loving, Very passionate, ofcourse He knows everything. He is God. He also hears, He knows your thoughts from afar off, All seeing, GOD. He lives in every born-again Believer, who has been bought and payed for by His Blood in which He shedd on a cross, because of a sinful world and it's people. The third Person of the Trinity. For I will save my people from their sins.

Holy Spirit, Holy Ghost, Paraclete, Comforter
Holy Spirit, or Holy Ghost, is the third person of the Trinity, distinct from but coequal with God the Father and God the Son.
---Rachel on 4/21/07

Holy Ghost
Third in the Trinity.
(John 14:17, 26; 15:26; 1 Cor. 2:10, 11; 12:11). He reproves, helps, glorifies, intercedes (John 16:7-13; Rom. 8:26).
(Luke 12:12; Acts 5:32; 15:28; 16:6; 28:25; 1 Cor. 2:13; Heb. 2:4; 3:7; 2 Pet. 1:21).

Names of God are ascribed to the Holy Ghost (Ex. 17:7; Ps. 95:7; Heb. 3:7-11);
attributes are also ascribed to omnipresence (Ps. 139:7; Eph. 2:17, 18; 1 Cor. 12:13);
omniscience (1 Cor. 2:10, 11);
omnipotence (Luke 1:35; Rom. 8:11);
eternity (Heb. 9:4).
Creation (Gen. 1:2; Job 26:13; Ps. 104:30)
working of miracles (Matt. 12:28; 1 Cor. 12:9-11).
Worship is ascribed to Holy Ghost (Isa. 6:3; Acts 28:25; Rom. 9:1; Rev. 1:4; Matt. 28:19).

Look under Holy Spirit in a good Bible Dictionary there are many available on the Internet.

Elwell's Evangelical Dictionary has one of the better presentations on the topic.

The Holy Ghost is Jesus Spirit he could not give us the holy Ghost as long as he was alive so when he died he became the comforter the holy Ghost or Holy Spirit as some call him But he is jesus spirit
---Betty on 9/21/06

The Holy Spirit is the divine inspiration of The Father initiated by and through His Word, and the catalyst of His creative force and power.
---josef on 5/13/06

He is God. Also called the spirit of God, the spirit of the Lord, and the spirit of Christ; the breath of God, the breath of the Lord, and the breath of Christ. Sometimes he is called Siloah, meaning "Sent". The Holy Spirit is called by the personal pronoun "He"(Isaiah 40:13; John 14:26; 15:26; 16:7,8,13-15). Please read Genesis 1:2; 2:7; Matthew 1:18; John 20:22,23.

Jesus says, I will ask the Father to send another Comforter, the Spirit of truth--Holy Ghost. John 14:16, 17, 26. Matthew 28:19-20 reveals Christ saying that believers are to be baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. The Spirit also bears witness--Romans 8:16, 1 John 5:6. The Bible emphasizes one God in the OT, Jesus-Son of God as God while He was here--stumbling block to the Jews, and then the work of the Spirit as God from Christ's ascension till the restoration--see also Acts 5:3 & 4.

Good way to say it Jeffery.

amen Leon! I was going to stop at two words, but the machine wouldn't let me.
---mike on 3/14/06

God is holy (Lev 19:2) and God is spirit (John 4:24). So God is The Holy Spirit.

But God pours out His gift which is also holy spirit (Acts 10:45) or 'Christ in you, the hope of glory' (Col 1:27). That's what Jesus was talking about in Acts 1:5 when he said:

For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

So God, who is Holy Spirit, gives us His gift, which is holy spirit. And we can manifest that gift according to 1 Cor 12:7-11.

Bruce, look in a good interlinear - one that shows, not only the Stephens text, from which the KJV was translated, but variations from the 7 critical Greek texts. According to 6 of them, Elzevir being the exception, 1 John 5:7-8 should read:

Because three there are who bear witness, the spirit, and the water, and the blood; and the three to the one [point] are.
---Jeffrey on 3/14/06

He (not it) is the third person (not part) in (not of) the Trinity. Peace... :-)
---Leon on 3/14/06

He is God. He is also the only active agency of God in the world today The Lord Jesus Christ is setting on the right hand of his Father in heaven. So we know the location of the Father and the Son. But the comforter(the Holy Spirit are Holy Ghost) sent back by the Father John 14:26 is actively working to convict sinners today. Without conviction from the Holy Spirit there will be no salvation. And since my life is tied up with others' salvation I seek guidance from the Holy Spirit. What about you?

1 John 5:7, "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one."
