Barbara, to sum up briefly what Bruce quoted: Those in Old Testament times were also saved by God's grace through faith *not* works! There's also an example listing of many OT characters in the FAITH chapter: Hebrews 11

Faith is trustworthness, expection, hope belief. Salvation is deliverance, to make safe, free, rescue. This is the relationship between faith and salvation and there can only be one conclusion to this question...JESUS CHRIST. They all go hand in hand. Amen!

Romans 4:1-3, "What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found? For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God. For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness."

Part 2of 2. Summation: Gal.3:22-24.But before faith came, we where kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards to be revealed. Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster (to bring us) unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster (Tutor).

The relationship between faith and salvation is the same in the O.T. as it is in the new. Faith is unwavering confidence in the Father and His Word. Salvation is The Fathers provision for His creations deliverance from the enslavement to and the penalty of sin, worked out by the finished work of The anointed Savior. Through the atoning power of His blood and the healing endowment of the Holy Spirit.

James said faith without works is Dead not speaking of dead works of judaism but the works of faith meaning doing something Gods asks us to do,repentence , baptism, laying on of hands, anointing with oil, fasting, praying, abiding in his word, taking communion, watching, laying down our lives, taking up our cross, assembleing ourselves together, ect. ect. exzucuh

It takes faith in God before one can be saved. Faith and works go hand in hand. James 2: 14-26.

Faith is not enough for salvation, for works are necessary to prove ones faith. Noah had faith and believed God, but his faith would have be dead, unless he obeyed and worked to build the ark. Lot had faith, but his faith would have been worthless, unless he actually fled Sodom and Amorah. Abraham had faith, but it would have been nothing unless he left his home to serve the one God. Some O.T. examples: James 2:20-26.
