Is Abortion Murder

If you believe abortion is murder would you then be in favor of the death penalty for those involved in abortion. Such as doctors performing abortion, husbands consenting and encouraging abortion or women having abortions?

This is a tough question. First off, I fully support the death penalty (which is brought into account several times in the NT). Secondly, you have the issue that many of these people did not believe it was wrong in the legal sense (though I believe all are given the moral sense).
Ultimately, I would say that I don't know.

Mima:: The rule of thumb is "Thou shalt not Kill"Gods law.I think the answer to your question would be "give to Ceasar what belongs to Caesar & to God what belongs to God"Do you agree?or would you vote for a death Penalty?Say if it was one of your near & dear?
---Emcee on 1/28/08

Mima I think any answers given to this will depend on the individual's view of Old Testament laws. The death penalty, as far as I know, is not mentioned in the New Testament so, if we are no longer under the law AS MANY CONTINUALLY SAY ON CHRISTIANET, then how can we bring out this ancient law just when it suits us. O.T. Eye for an eye etc. versus N.T. Love your enemies and turn the other cheek. Which do you say it should be Mima?

I am opposed to the Death Penalty period. But Abortion is murder and I condemn all involved in this sick industry, but the woman least of all of them because there are circumstances that impede her ability to choose freely.

Abortion is big business and lies have been perpetrated by those involved in order to keep abortion available as money making venture.

In the old days, pagens would sacrifice there children to the gods. These gods are demons, devil, satan what ever you call them. Today we are civilized and we do not do such things. NOT!!!!! Abortion is the same thing. We sacrifice the life that God gives to the devil through abortion. There is no difference. These people will be judged by God one day.

Mary: Who's being judgmental? 90%+, aren't they convenience because them involved acted irresponsibly? Should the baby be victim the guy&girl's inappropriate behavior? Isn't pregnancy the result of choosing pleasure over discipline? Isn't abortion pre-meditated murder? Doesn't God's word pronounce capital punishment in this case?

Is it judgmental then to site God's judgment?

100 of millions abortions, what is the cause, solution?

Any better word than God's on this issue?
---TDG on 1/16/07

I, too, am definitely against abortion. Still, it's a shame a lot of people are so totally judgmental! I don't see a man sweating and in tears because he's been raped and is pregnant! As Christians, we need to do a lot more loving and a lot less judging!
---Mary on 1/11/07

Part 2 of my rant lol! :D Anyway, a lot of times, of course, the woman or girl having the abortion was not raped, but until you've walked in her frightning shoes, you cannot say what it's like for her. I am not a fireman. I have never fought a fire, and it would not be my place to say what fireman should or should not do. Same with pregnancy.

My error. Neither the Babylonian or Palestinian Talmud's were inspired works, but are Rabbinical writings written after The Jewish Temple was destroyed, probably to keep Jewish life in some kind of organized perspective.

Death penalty should be to those who both have and perform abortions. Isn't murder the epitome of selflessness? God's law has not changed in this respect. Abortion is murder, regardless how the mind can become warped in this regard. The flesh, world, devil is real good at getting us to do things we later think God won't forgive us of and we just give up on heaven and have at sin. Because something is legal, doesn't make it Godly.

When I went to school, if you even hit a girl in the stomach, you were in for Big Trouble, law or no laws!

There are two Talmuds to my knowledge, The Babylonian, & The Palestinian! Neither inspired works are connected to The 10 Commandments or other written Jewish Laws! Compare it to the situation King Solomon dealt with when two women fought over one baby.

The Talmud was also written years after Jerusalem's Temple was totally destroyed after Christ's death.

I didn't type the last Matthew post. Just letting you guys know it's someone else with my name. Thanks

Yes! If it is for convenience sake, it is premeditated and plan murder. Can you imagine planning to murder a baby? Pretty sick! Gen 9:6 Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.
---TDG on 12/28/06

Jesus said; thou shall not kill. what is it that is so hard to understand about this commandment? Is it because you don't believe Jesus? He died on the cross and forgave them that killed him, is that not good enough.

notlaw99::Thank you for educating me on part of the Jewish Law re Abortion.Seems rather barbaric (as described by you "limb by limb"),as the gift of a child is Gods Gift,& who are we to determine the ways of God,He being the Author & giver of life.I know Jesus who is God abolished many of these rites & traditions.God determines the value of life it is HIS Plan ,not mans.

The instant an egg becomes firtilized it's living, human, and completely seperate from the mother. Consider: different blood type; different DNA; could be carried to term apart from the mothers womb; fingerprints are different. And, no, God doesn't approve of "opening the womb" of pregnant women; this was one of the things that seperated YHWH from all lesser gods. NO human sacrifice was excepted EXCEPT Jesus Christ; only He was sinless.

Yes, abortion is murder. The Bible says that God hates the shedding of innocent blood - this is abortion. God says to love not to hate - we must not return eye for eye but love those abortion doctors and speak the truth to them. Let he without sin, cast the first stone.

Jewish law not only permits, but in some circumstances requires abortion. Where the mother's life is in jeopardy because of the unborn child, abortion is mandatory. An unborn child has the status of "potential human life" until the majority of the body has emerged from the mother. The Talmud says quite bluntly that if the fetus threatens the life of the mother, you cut it up within her body and remove it limb by limb if necessary, because its life is not as valuable as hers.

In Acts 25:11 paul said For if I be an offender, or have committed any thing worthy of death, I refuse not to die admitting that there "were offenses worthy" of death and that the government had the right to administer death in those cases. Paul was careful to follow Jesus and would have been against it if Jesus was.

the Mosaic Law very strongly supported the death penalty and Jesus never once disobeyed the law or taught against it. He said Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil -Matt.5:17 Also: But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition? For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death. Matthew 15:3-4

The death penalty is not social revenge. Its a declaration that the actions of those who receive it were punishable with their life. It sets a standard saying, we are not going to tolerate such actions and here is what happens to those who perform them. It is meant to detour those who are thinking about committing such actions. Aborters and their helpers are guilty of murder and deserve capitol punishment. If a person kills a woman with child they are tried for 2 murders. Why should abortion be different?
---chris on 5/17/06

I know abortion is murder. But believe me criminalizing aborion won't help. But getting the word out in a loving Christlike way will help open the eyes of the women seeking abortions. Most of them think abortion is the only thing that they can do forgeting abortions leaves them with mental and physical problems. Ther are pretty much branded for life. So lets love them and pray for them that they will see the light of christ.
---beckyN on 5/17/06

While I believe that abortion is murder, I would also advocate that we follow the laws of our land while working toward getting the law changed so that abortion is limited strictly to medical necessities. The death penalty as stands does little to prevent crimes but is merely an act of social revenge.

This is what the bible says about abortion. Ex 21:22-23. To God it is wrong, and those will be punished.

I would be in favor of the death penalty for the woman and the people who performed the procedure. The husband as would be an accomplice and would be charged with that lesser evil because he didn't actually perfom the crime.

John the Baptist was filled with the Holy Ghost while still in the womb. Luke 1:5
God knows us before we are even formed in the womb. Jeremiah 1:5; Revelation 13:8

On the topic of the death penalty, the bible is pretty clear that punishments should be equal to the crimes that are committed. In the end, the death penalty is minor compared to the punishments that will be given to those who did not accept Christ. In Matthew 15:3-4 Jesus acknowledges a death penalty.

Mima, I too am against abortion and I do consider it to be murder but I am also against the death penalty because I see that as legalized murder. I think that every abortionist, every woman having had an abortion and politicians who sanctioned someone else's death as a punishment will be answerable for their actions. However, they can be forgiven just as you and I are for our own personal sins.

Acts 5:5 Ananias and his wife were judged and put to death by the Holy Spirit for lying Revelation 2:23 And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works. Those who shed innocent blood might escape prosecution they will not escape judgement. exzucuh
