God Is omnipresent, He Is present every all at once & at the same time. That's why he can answer prayer where you live & answer prayer elsewhere around the world.

I have heard men blaspheme God. I have heard men blaspheme God's son Jesus Christ.
But I have never heard a man blaspheme The Holy Spirit!!1

I think that blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is something that has to be deliberate and harmful. The Greek word transliterated to 'blasphemy' in English basically means "lying to hinder something", when the Pharisees lied and attributed the work of the Holy Spirit to Satan, they knew that they were speaking against God's will to reveal the Messiah, but felt so prideful that they didn't care. It's not something you can do accidentally, you have to be willing to intentionally mislead someone in a way that could get them eternally damned.

Jesus Christ is not the Holy Spirit.
If the Holy Spirit was Jesus Christ, He could not be sitting at the right hand of God. Jesus Christ is the Son of God. While He walked the earth, He was God and Man. The Holy Spirit is not the Son of God.
This is Oneness. Jesus Christ did not descend from Heaven like a dove upon Himself.
The triune God in three Persons - Father, Son and Holy Spirit are not three Gods.
One God in three Persons. The Holy Spirit is not Jesus Christ.

This really is not difficult to understand. If it were that complicated, children would not understand it. There are six year olds that understand the Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit - God.
But not understanding it will lead you into error and false doctrine. It is why Oneness believers do not believe that the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is the unpardonable sin.

Oneness believes Jesus and Holy Spirit are One and the same.

Equal does not mean identical. The Father, The Son, Jesus, and The Holy Spirit are Equal, but not One and the same.
The triune three are God.

In two years, I've witnessed cyclic arguments for Oneness. A husband and wife do not become one person (one disappears), but unite with one common purpose and one common will. Jesus prayed that believers become one "as Thou, Father art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us" (John 17:21). The many believers do not merge to form one person, but they merge their purpose and will into one. The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are One in purpose and will - God.

Michelle, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit is ONE and THE SAME. The thing is their also separate, its the mystery of heaven which we will never understand.

Its both oneness and trinity its crazy

JohnT said it well.

The error is due to the redefining the term, "Holy Spirit" calling Him Christ, or Jesus, and attributing slandering Jesus as the "unpardonable sin".
Read it again, and you will see the definition switching of terms clearly.

No, blasphemy against Holy Spirit is blasphemy against Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ is NOT Holy Spirit. Therefore, defining the term "BaHS" has to involve Holy Spirit, and no one else.

Mima, on a previous blog, it appears that you are claiming that Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit are One and the Same. They are not. This is where the rubber meets the road and why you would have a hard time defining the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. You are defining Oneness. Do you believe that the Holy Spirit only points to Jesus and is not equal with the Father and Son?

The Bible is the best source.
Jesus is my plumbline.
Jesus says, that blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is the unpardonable sin. He is not taking about Himself.
Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is attributing all the gifts, works of the Holy Spirit to satan.

To be completely honest I have no idea how to narrowly define what blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is. I hear this question at jail ministry, I hear this question while witnessing in public, I hear this question while street preaching. And I will be closely watching people to answer in order to develop a better answer of my own.

The only way you can blasphemy against the Holy Ghost, in other words, commit the unpardonable sin, is to REJECT CHRIST! It is the Spirit that leads you, it is the Spirit that conficts you, all to bring you to Christ. The only sin that will send you to hell is the rejection of Christ.

Acts 5:5 And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things. William you better read about Ananias and Sapphira they lied to the Holy Spirit and fell dead no telling what blaspheming will do.

I don't believe the unpardonable sin can be committed in this age of grace. Jesus said this sin cannot be forgiven in this age nor in the age to come.Of course Jesus was present during His age (law) ,now He is not. However He will be here during His 1000 year reign(age to come).

Ulrika:
I do not presume to be right 100% of the time, and I always reserve the right to be wrong.

The definition you copy seems to have a Dispensational viewpoint. That is a subtile thing, but not wrong.

My point was that "BAHS" has to be something against Holy Spirit, and no one else.

If the Holy spirit is working through a person and you say it is the devil it is blasphemy your not talking about the person it is God in the person. David danced in his underwear his wife said it was perverse and God cursed her. exzucuh

Rev Herb, Tongues is the ninth gift of the Holy Spirit. Since the Holy Spirit does NOT come from the devil, then it is from GOD. Blasphemy is the denial of the diety of Jesus, and God and the Holy Spirit. It goes beyond speaking evil, it's pure denial of the things of God. Rev. Herb if your anger towards tongues was directed towards the devil, we'd have no demons left on this planet earth cuz your anger could cast them out of people by the millions.
---Donna on 4/7/06

It is having a spirit of desecration, which mockingly ascribes the works of the Holy Spirit to Satan. It is calling good evil, the truth a lie, and the Holy unholy. When God's Spirit genuinely works through a person (as He did through Jesus' miracles), and another person (like the Jewish Ministers and Legalists) disses it or disgraces it, that is blasphemy.

Matt 12:31,32 Luke 12:10. There is an "unpardonable sin" and it is giving credit to Satan for the work of the Holy Spirit. In this case the pharisies, who KNEW that Jesus was who He claimed to be, did not want to surrender their place of authority and have people submit to Jesus instead. So, they deliberatly and knowingly attributed the work of the Holy Spirt to Satan in an attempt to discredit Jesus. This was not a casual or accidental "sin" but a deliberate rejection of the Messiah.

I think some of these responses should give everyone a pretty good picture of some of the conversations of the priest and people that actually charged Jesus with His crime!

1 Corinthians 12:3
Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.

Rev. Herb. Is tongues and slain in the spirit of God or of the devil? If it is of God then you may be a blasphemer of the Holy Spirit by the very judgement you gave. If it is of the devil and we attribute it to God then you show us the Scripture that this is blasphemy.

From bible dictionary:
Blasphemy against the Holy Ghost (Matt. 12:31,32 Mark 3:28,29 Luke 12:10) is regarded by some as a continued and obstinate rejection of the gospel, and hence is and unpardonable sin, simply because as long as a sinner remains in unbelief he voluntarily excludes himself from pardon. Others regard the expression as designating the sin of attributing to the power of Satan those miracles which Christ performed, or generally those work which are the result of the Spirit's agency.
---Ulrika on 4/5/06

Linda: EXACTLY!
I did not know the reason for that until I studied Holy Spirit's ministry purpose. Since is the "Holy Compass", always pointing to Jesus, and seeking to glorify him, attiributing His work to Satan is saying that He serves Satan, and pays homage to our Enemy as the source for salvation.

That is why if you worry if you have said it, then you haven't. Just writing about it to describe is difficult.

This verse (Matt 12:31)Jesus accused the leaders of Israel of committing the unpardonable sin by charging Him that He performed miracles by the power of Satan. One who denies the Holy Spirit is committing this sin. A True Believer cannot commit that sin as they are under the blood of Christ.

"There are two ways: One is to say that the Holy Spirit is doing miracles when it is actually the devil doing it. Or saying that something is of the devil when the Holy Spirit is doing it."

Actually, Herb, the Scriptures make reference to only one way. It is attributing the work of the Holy Spirit to the devil, not attributing the work of the devil to the Holy Spirit.

Matthew 12:25-32
---Linda on 4/5/06

There are two ways: One is to say that the Holy Spirit is doing mericals when it is actually the devil doing it. Or saying that something is of the devil when the Holy Spirit is doing it.

With this in mind, is tongues, and slain in the spirit of God or the devil?
---Rev_Herb on 4/5/06

Blasphemy against the Holy Ghost is saying the miracles that Jesus does and has done; that Satan has done them.
