God Or Demons Speaking

If God spoke to you, would you believe it was Him or think it was a demon?

Moderator - God and demons speak and unless one knows the difference which is revealed in the Word of God, one will be misled.

John 10:27, "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:"
---Bruce5656 on 12/28/07

And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: Also written in prophecy after the year 1900, toward the middle of the 20th century. Many christian pastors, bishops and priests will become vain men, completely failing to distingish the right hand from the left.
---Twilight on 6/3/07

I would seek a priest for guidance and compare His (the voice) words with His Word. If it is God, He will not try to muddle me with novel ideas that are not rooted in scripture, nor lead me to actions that I know or suspect to be sinful.

Many claim to hear God's voice, or the voice of angels or saints, but the Catholic Church has made it a point to debunk these when they occur within the Church's jurisdiction, or when asked by outsiders.

George- Why do you think God is speaking to you and your not sure it's him?
Compare what you are hearing with his WORD!
---eliza4969 on 5/31/07

The Holy Spirit leads, The Enemy drives. God convicts, Satan condemns. God brings peace not confusion. The Lord produces patience and long-suffering in the hearts of the believer, Satan sows discord and division.

I hear you. I have never heard it explained quite that way before and I thought it was simple and beautiful. God bless
---Josef on 5/12/06

As long as it alines with the word of God it will be from God. We all know the Devil won't tell you to love your neigbors and to love God. He will tell you things like your life sucks and other negative things.

Mom not a Christian when this happened.

I was raised on farm and mom cooked on wood stove. Wood box was on front porch. Dad gets up builds fire, runs mom out of bed to fix breakfast. She goes out to get more wood for fire and hears foot steps in new fallen snow. It was dark outside. When it got daylight, dad walked all around the house and there were no foot prints anywhere, not even dog.

I have more of these.
---Rev_Herb on 5/12/06

My dad was not Christian when this happened.

My brother and I were staying with grandparents, mom in hosp. having baby sister. Dad home alone in bed at night. Woke up felt presents at foot of bed. Next thing he knows is something has covers over his head trying to smother him.

To many blogs to keep up with, sorry. I would not ask a Catholic Priest to get rid of my demons when he is not even a Christian. Anyone who prays to Mary and worships a piece of bread can't be Christian.

They don't stay long, after I tell them to go. Haven't heard any in over a year now.

You don't have to go through a long ritual when you know you have the athority.

Herb:

Three weeks, and no comment from you on this blog. I am sure you have opinions on what we said here!
---John_T on 5/12/06

Herb, while I was visiting some influential people in our church in Virginia, trying to get support for a new project, something caught my eye. Hanging from the ceiling, attached to the wall, was Confederate Flag bunting. Only problem was that the bunting was NOT there physically.

I was extremely frightened as I thought I was becoming delusional. I never mentioned it to anyone.

One year after that, a Christian man who knew the history of the area, one of the good ole boys, said to me, Did you know that X and Y are KKK?

Then it hit me: Holy Spirit was giving me a clear message, as the pastor of that church, but I did not know it until after a disaster happened having to deal with lying spirits
---John_T on 4/18/06

Could this be the same with you? Could Holy Spirit be trying to tell you something? You have to ask Him, in prayer to tell you what you need to know SO THAT YOU CAN GIVE GLORY TO JESUS. The last part is important. If you are new to this have another Bible-believing (non-dispensational) pastor assist you. You do not need a priest, (Lee was talking about a Jesuit) unless the priest is a believer. Gods servants are up to the task
---John_T on 4/18/06

Rev Herb, Lee's suggestion isn't a bad one, in that there are many godly men who have experience in "house cleaning", that not being limited to RC priests. You yourself have the ability and authority in Christ to put a stop to it (which I strongly suggest you do). I hope your aren't continuing to "entertain" these happenings just because it's different/unusual. If you do allow it to continue, you could be putting your family and even your own testimony in jepordy.
---daphn8897 on 4/18/06

Rev Herb, Regardless of our possibly differing tastes in music, I certainly don't think it wise to continue to allow demonic manifestations. Yes, we are covered by the blood, but why give the enemy any ground? And, what will you lose by having Christ centered music filling your home? (FYI praise and worship msic is not limited to the contemporary, there are some wonderful hymn tapes/CDs out).
---daphn8897 on 4/18/06

Rev_Herb Have you ever considered inviting a Roman Catholic priest into your house - one that is trained in exorcism? I hear that some of them really can do a good job in driving out familiar spirits.

I am serious, these things do happen at my house.

As far as playing phrase and worship music, some of what I hear today only invites demons. It is rock and roll with a Christian name.

I have nothing to worry about, we are protected by the blood.
---Rev_Herb on 4/17/06

Rev Herb, Are you serious or yanking our chains? If "paranormal" stuff was happening in my home, I'd have a bunch of church folk come over and bless the house. I'd also put praise and worship music on all the time. And, I'd make it clear that whomever or whatever is not welcome in a Christ dedicated home.
---daphn8897 on 4/12/06

Don't put faith in "voices". Hear God in your spirit. One suggestion: if unsure (providing Scripture doesn't go against it) take a minor step or 2 in the direction you think He may be leading..nothing to obligate you. Gather information, check financial requirements etc. Then see if you have more clarity, a sense of peace or more doubts. It's hard to steer a parked car. Sometimes, once we start in a certain direction, God can show us his will more clearly. Yield to Him and go slow.

You will know if it is the Lord because he said we would know his voice
---Betty on 4/9/06

I have felt an urgent feeling from a voice that is telling me to go (as if I have been blocking the voice out for some time). I have heard my name called. I can usually tell if it is from God. There are times I am not sure and have been unable to look up in the Bible if I am lets say, to move out of area. My own self gets tied up in it all. I think it is a good question.

I was at asked to sing at a church one night, and my mother-n-law went with me and my husband. She was a sinner, while I was behind the pulpit singing, the spirit of the Lord spoke to me and said, go to Sharon. At first I didn't, I thought I can't put my mic down and just go back there, what would people think? Again I was told. I done it the second time. I told her that if she wanted to go and pray, that I would go with her. She was pushing me into the asle, to go to the Alter. I'm glad I did.
---Rebecca_D on 4/8/06

Once while witnessing the spirit told me "stop talking". I was completely flabbergasted, and continued to talk. Again the spirit said stop talking. This time I turned to look at the person I was witnessing to and saw him on his knees. And he asked me to help him pray for his salvation. Something I still do with the people I witness to today!! With this experience the percentage of people accepting the Lord(after being witnessed to) greatly increased.

My wife has heard voices to. We had also heard someone walking in the house when no one was there.
---Rev_Herb on 4/7/06

Rev.Herb--Maybe you are destined for something great! Remember Samuel? ;-)
---Donna2277 on 4/7/06

I would believe it was God if it lined up with what God says in His word. If it's a lie, then it's from satan. How do you know if it's a lie? If it's not what God says in His word. Line everything up with what God says in His word, amen? Eve's problem didn't begin when she ate the apple, Eve's problem began when she swallowed the lie of the devil. Amen?
---Donna9759 on 4/7/06

God speaks to me, and I to him, but I would never believe that he was a demon, just as I would not believe that the person who posted this question, namely, George was a demon. God is the Creator; but a demon is a creature which is a foolish creature bent on self-destruction.

The Christian walk is always a walk of faith. Therefore God does not have a problem with confirming His personal word or instruction to you. The Bible says that faith and patience work together (Hebrews 6:12). When hearing from God, I believe wisdom would wait for the confirmation(s). Be leery of any sense of urgency or compulsion. Fear that a demon might do something gives the devil more power or credit than God. God is a big God. He knows how to handle Satan. Trust Him.

The bible says an evil gereration seeks after a sign. The Jews seek after a sign.

Why do we still seek after a sign today? We have God's word, we don't need a sign.
---Rev_Herb on 4/7/06

Comparing what you hear with the word of God is good but you can't find personal stuff in there like what is going on in your city or life right now, or who needs prayer and stuff like that. So you still have to know the Father's voice.

The Holy Spirit speaks to all christians but many have not grasp the ability to hear him he speaks in your heart or spirit at times he may speak in an audible voice it is rare, but he never draws attention to himself but bares witness of his son Jesus this is rhema word, rom 10:17 faith comes by hearing the word of God, word in the Greek here is rhema not logos, the written word.exzucuh

God said my sheep know my voice. So if one is unsure if it is God telling them something, ask if it was him to give you a sign or tell you again. Remember, Satan won't tell you to do anything that is good.
---Rebecca_D on 4/7/06

Many people have heard God speak to them and tell them to do things. Many are killers and many are locked up in nut houses. I would be very careful if you are hearing voices. I have heard my name called many times and ask my wife if she called me. She said no. Then again, my house is built near an Indian burial ground.
---Rev_Herb on 4/7/06

All true Christians have heard Gods voice. The beginning of your recognition of communication from God was when He was calling you to salvation. We know Gods voice because we know Him. Jesus says, "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me." The better we get to know God the more clearly we will recognize His voice
---glrs on 4/7/06

The Scriptures are the final authority. But experience has taught me (and I believe it is Biblical) that The Holy Spirit leads, The Enemy drives. God convicts, Satan condemns (he is the accuser of the brethren Rev 12:10) God brings peace not confusion (God is not the author of confusion I Cor 14:33) The Lord produces patience and long-suffering in the hearts of the believer, Satan sows discord and division.
