Can The Devil Read Our Minds

Can the devil read our minds?

Moderator - No and he isn't omnipresent so even if he could read our minds, he would not show up to read them anyway. Who is teaching this devil reading our minds and listening to our prayers stuff? This is the third question recently.

Why do you think the Devil can not read minds or is not omnipresent? What proof do you have? How do we know that God is omnipresent? Assuming the above named are real, who are we to say what they are or can do?

I have a suggestion, what about going striaght to the Bible and asking the Holy Spirit for guidance! God freely gives out information to anyone who asks.
---Steveng on 7/17/08

Amen Steven!!

James 1:5
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

Just ask God...He will teach you and show you via the Holy Spirit. Cry out to Him for truth and He will show you. Afterall...why not go directly to the AUTHOR of the Book aka Bible if you have questions...no need for a middleman. God is more than able to give you the answers you seek, for NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE with Him.

Nicole: "We been begging you to get your sources from the RCC.
No, Emcee is a good source.
But, best of all the Catechism!"

That's just like going to Satan to get answer about God, the Kingdom of God and how to get there.

And that includes going to any denominational chruch having their own traditions, ways of living and interpretations of the Bible. Satan is the creator of denominational churches causing a division among all Christians.

I have a suggestion, what about going striaght to the Bible and asking the Holy Spirit for guidance! God freely gives out information to anyone who asks.

Good, all you have to do is change your sources.

We been begging you to get your sources from the RCC.
No, Emcee is a good source.
But, best of all the Catechism!

It is so strange, because if I wanted to know about Russia and her people, I would ask a Russian.

Not some Americans who visited for 3 weeks, and now claim they are 'experts' on Russian Culture.

Going to Protestants for Catholic answers isn't logical as well.

I suppose, Nicole and Emcee, that is why the Holy Spirit told us through John the Revelator that we must 'Come out of her, lest we share her sins' in Revelation Ch 17 or 18. Please look it up. Clearly the mystery Babylon the great who is drunk on the blood of the saints, resides on seven hills, and meets with the leaders of the world, is the RCC.

Mima: "The bride of Christ is the new Jerusalem, that descents out of the heavens!!!! Are you surprised? Have you been taught differently?"

This is a profound mystery but I am talking about Christ and the church. (Eph. 5:32) The Bridegroom (Christ) and the Bride (the Church). Whoever heard of a bride or groom being inanimate objects. But I won't be surprised that just before Jesus return, men will be able to leagally marry their cars, statues, or any other inanimate obeject. God is the God of the living.

Concerning the bride of Christ, let us look at some scripture in order to determine what is the bride of Christ.
Revelation 21:9 "And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife.

10-"And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,

What call of choice are you talking about Nicole? There is no choice to be made according to you. It's the RCC or else and you are right you and Emcee are now the same. You did a full circle. You say to protect the faith of the RCC. You don't really want anyone to make a choice, you want them to choose the faith of the RCC. Everyone else answering you, wants you to see the faith in Jesus Christ gospel. The Word of God. There is but one choice to be made of a true Christian and that is to defend the Word of God, the gospel of Jesus Christ and never be ashame of doing that. Not anyone's traditions. You do it for your Church, we do it for Christ Church.
---Mark_V. on 7/16/08

Steveng, you are 100% correct.

Satan cannot read your mind but he can read your actions. Some display actions toward others that will allow Satan to go on vacation for a while.
Satan can know when and how you study your Bible. Some of you he interferes with. Others he doesn't have to. Ask yourself which group you are in.
Satan never will attack someone who is no threat to him. So if you are at peace with him you are in battle with Jesus. Now, don't mistake this, I am talking to Christians.

Great post, Mark V! There is not much free choice in serving the devil. We need to be set free by the Truth of the Word. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth that Sanctifies us and makes us Christ-like. It is not our work but God's great work. It comes through simple faith in Jesus' resurrection after Calvary. We who follow in his footsteps do not follow a religion or ritual, but a person, Jesus, whose walk was also followed by Paul, a great man who God called. The Word, Logos, Jesus, the Bible. Paul's conversion was not initiated by Paul, but God. We ought to pray that God calls these Catholics we know, Emcee and Nicole.
---frances008 on 7/15/08

Emcee, If it was not for your answers you wouldn't see so many towards Catholics. It is written, 2 Tim. "God may perhaps grant that they will repent and come to know the Truth, and they may escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will" Yes Emcee, I was a child of his, John 8:44 "you are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires" Those were my desires. "And you He made alive, when you were dead through the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedienc"

Satan isn't by himself. He has the other evil beings who can be here and there to hear prayer, etc. They can report to him.

And Paul says there is "the spirit who now

works

in the sons of disobedience." (in Ephesians 2:2) This spirit of evil, I can see, is located in more places and people, than Satan himself is. And it "works" in wrong people. I'd offer this means the spirit of evil is *working* people to do what is not obedient.

This would include producing evil thinking, NOT merely "reading" what people think, but *producing* disobedient thinking, with its stinking.
---Bill_bila5659 on 7/15/08

Since there is millions upon millions of unbelievers in the world, there must be a lot of Satans around the world. I only know of one Satan in Scripture and he is not Omnipresent. He cannot be in all places at one time. So the theory is false. If he could read the minds of people, he would not have tempted each one, Judas, the pharisees, and the people to kill Jesus, for by tempting them, he (Satan) cause his own demise. His own defeat. It wasn't that he was stupid, but that he didn't know the outcome of what was going to happen. His presence was there, where Jesus was at, and not in some other place in Africa or Mexico at the same time. He is smart but not smarter the God.
---Mark_V. on 7/15/08

Emcee: "Steveng::Your statement that the devil has "control"of your mind is FALSE "

That's true, Satan doesn't have control of your mind. He has control of your "thoughts."
---Steveng on 7/14/08

Emcee, I do not uphold the prince of Darkness. I gave what is written in Scripture. You must have stayed late at night just thinking how you would attack me. You even said, I said he was greater then God, which is not what I said at all. And threw in that he was my lost relative, trying to connect me to him. Somehow condemning me. But I used to be a child of his. Now I am a child of God. You don't understand because you don't have life in Christ. You continue to bring him up to attack others, because he is still your relative and your mouth gives proof of that. "You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your fathers desires." John 8:44.

Steveng::Your statement that the devil has "control"of your mind is FALSE If he has then you are his slave.and this takes away your free will.what you describe are impressions of the imagination.he can only tempt you that is why one has to develop a strong will and not succomb to his wiles. You are the the driver in the drivers seat of your thoughts words and actions.

Satan is the great adversary, the enemy of God and all mankind.(he prowls around as a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour.)No,he is not working for God.He is working against God and against us,God,s children. He hates God so naturally he hates God,s children. And he is working at a fast pace because he knows that his own time is short. No he cannot read minds. But he can put temptation in our path to cause us to sin and pull us away from God.So we must daily pray to God,spend ample time in his word, and resist the Devil and he will flee.God bless all of you.
---Irene on 7/10/08

The mind is Satan's playground.

He does have control of your thoughts. Fear originates from the mind. What happens when "see" something move at the corner of your eye and, when you turn, nothing is there? Fear. What happens when you feel "someone" tap you on the shoulder and when you turned around no one was there? Fear. What happens when someone calls out your name and you turned to find no one? Fear. Satan plays tricks on our minds using all five senses to create fear. Today, fear has enveloped the whole world - even to Christians.

This is why we must continually meditate on the word of God and truly believe that He will protect us so we need not fear.

The mod's correct. Satan is not omnipresent, omnipotent, omniscience, he is a created being. He was pictured as a horned, triad-bearing, comedic adversary by the Medieval Roman Catholic Church. The pictures of Satan were intentionally created by the church in order to poke fun at him. The church was convinced that an effective ploy to withstand Satan was to insult him. The bibical view of Satan is far from that truth they viewed. He appears as "an angel of light." He has ability to manifest himself under the appearance of good. He speaks with eloquence. The prince of darkness wears a cloak of light. Satan is indeed fearsome, but finite and limited, in space and time. He is not divine, and never an equal to God.

No the Devil cannot read our minds, however he does study us. He watches to see what is our weaknesses and what is our strengths. He tries to see where we are over confident. Some of us are a open book to the Devil so it is almost like he is reading our minds. This is why it was said do not let your left hand know what your right hand is going to do.
---Marcia on 8/3/07

The devil does prow about like a lion looking for someone to devour. Remember he study Job and found enough to convince God that Job needed testing, so he enqired about Job, and God gave him permission. Remember Jesus warned Peter that Satan was going to sift him like wheat. Remember satan watched Jesus and waited until the opportune time to test him in the wilderness. However Jesus overcame the temptation and Aced the test.

---Josh on 7/27/07

No the devil can't read minds, because if he could he would have never had JESUS crucified, which would result in his defeat. When Satan was kicked out of heaven, he lost his glory that he once had with God and most of his power. But because he's spirit he still has super human power, he's able to see into the future somewhat, but not like he could when he was in heaven.

Wes and Ethan, the devil cannot be everywhere at once so he can only be 'hearing' one person at a time saying "I'm catching a cold." Is this going to start an epidemic? I think that this idea is preposterous and am amazed that some people with this idea even dare open their mouths to voice an opinion for fear of what the devil will do with their words.
---emg on 7/29/06

No, the devil cannot read our minds. Only God can do that. The devil only has limited power, whereas God has all power and is present everywhere and knows all things.
---Helen_5378 on 7/28/06

I agree with Ethan..there is power in the tongue. If you speak something like "I am getting a cold", and the devil agrees with you, then that is two witnesses. God's word is established by two or three witnesses!
---wes on 7/28/06

Ethan, most times when someone says "I'm catching a cold" it is simply because they are. It isn't the words that give them the cold it is the virus with which they have been infected. You give the devil too much credit.

The devil has a limited amount of power, for example mediums, but when it comes to mind reading, he can only read minds of the devil possessed, because demons can commumicate to each other through devil possessed people. Demonogly is something that all Christians should learn about, because many people need to be delivered from them.
---Mrs._Morgan on 7/28/06

The only way the devil can read your mind is if you speak it. In which case can become a reality ie.."Im catching a cold"
Say it and you just might get it.
---Ethan on 7/28/06

We can't deny that the devil is very smart and intelligent (though not omniscient) and has had a lot of experience dealing with human beings and knowing what they are probably going to do.

The devil can get along without mind reading, I think.

Unfortunately.
---Jack on 5/11/06

The devil cannot read a person's mind. He is not Omnipotent. His nature is not like God's. His attributes are very powerful but nothing like God's. If he had read Jesus mind before the cross, he (devil) would have stopped his evil in the people, and Jesus would not have died and paid for our sin. He knows what we desire because he sees our actions. he tempts us with what we desire. But our love for Christ stops him on his tracks. That is why Christ should be our always desire above anything or anyone.

Not one molecule can go unnoticed from His sight. We have to believe that God permits tragedy if He is God. Bruce, if Satan (or demons) cannot influence our thinking, how would you explain passages like Acts 5:1-11 (Ananias & Sapphira) ... especially verse 3?

Or, Ephesians 6:12 which says "our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against ... spiritual forces of evil"? -- Do not many of our struggles take place in our mind?

Or, 2 Corinthians 11:3. "But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent's cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray ..."

For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world-rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Just as there are archangels (high angels) in heaven there seems to be organization with Satan.

As to the question of being a Christian and also having a demon, this passage "might" put that question to rest...

26Jesus answered, "It is the one to whom I will give this piece of bread when I have dipped it in the dish." Then, dipping the piece of bread, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, son of Simon. 27As soon as Judas took the bread, Satan entered into him." John 13:26,27

Judas was a follower and disciple of Christ.

Moderator - Judas wasn't a follower of Christ. He was a greedy man that was stealing money out of the money bag that he was in charge of.
