Mary Blessed Amoungst Women

How do you explain to people that Mary was blessed amoungst women, not blessed above women? Why do some believe you can pray to Mary when she isn't all knowing and all powerful? Can she hear prayers? I say no because she was a human being with NO divine powers that Jesus had.

It was prophecied that many would fall away, believing doctrines of devils, idol worshipping and throwing out the commandments. In fact, it has been happening all along, only now it is the result of an onslaught by the Satan worshippers. It is highly organized, like politics, in fact politics and science are part of the warfare. Mind control via the government. Persecution of the ones who home school etc.

What about when Jesus Dydumas(Thomas)
"Blessed" are those "WHO Believe" in Me And
Hav'nt seen me.
I'm Blessed!
---Duane_Dudley_Martin on 4/4/08

Only Jesus can save you not Mary
---Crystal on 4/4/08

To be "blessed among women" is sufficiently impressive. To say "above" women would not make any sense.

As for the rest of the blog question, see Luke 2:35 "(Yea, a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also,) that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed."

See also 1 Cor 13:12, if this is true for Paul, then why not Mary?

Jesus has come to set us free and grant us eternal life, we are no longer under the old covenant.

Bruce-The foundation of the apostles and a prophet is Jesus the foundation.

Yes, Bruce Jesus is the foundation, but the Apostles also share in this...
---Ruben on 4/29/07

Bruce-All other lords are as other kings subservient to the Lordord and King

Again Bruce Jesus is THE Lord of Lord and Kings of Kings but we are call lords.
---Ruben on 4/29/07

Bruce-As with the kings and lords, there are lots of judges but there is only one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy.

Jesus is the JUDGE but again we will be able to judge...
---Ruben on 4/29/07

Mary is the most honored of all women, because she was willing to face the shame and disrespect of carrying Jesus. She was not married prior to here impregnation so just like every young girl that has a child out of wedlock she suffered. But she embraced that hard life because she trusted and had hope and faith in God. She's honored and I hope I can teach my children to be that obedient to the call of God.

Annonymous,I agree with you 100%! People choose to believe all of that because they are being deceived.
---Lissa on 4/28/07

PART ONE:
Ruben,
1 Corinthians 3:11, "For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ."
Ephesians 2:20, "And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;"

The foundation of the apostles and a prophet is Jesus the foundation.
---Bruce5656 on 5/17/06

PART TWO:
Ephesians 4:5, "One Lord, one faith, one baptism,"
Revelation 19:16, "And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS."

All other lords are as other kings subservient to the Lordord and King

How many Spanish men are named Jesus? Lots. But there is only ONE Jesus, King of kings and Lord of lords!
---Bruce5656 on 5/17/06

PART THREE:
James 4:12, "There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another?"

1 Corinthians 6:2, "Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?"

As with the kings and lords, there are lots of judges but there is only one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy.

My earlier post was meant for Ruben, not Ramon. Sorry about that.

Ramon, No scripture reference for the mediation sharing huh? (there is none)
Eph 2:19-20 - the discription of the foundation of the apostles is: "Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone" (what is the cornerstone? the foundation.)
Rev 19:16 - refers to a king/lord over earthly kings/lords
James 4:12 - refers to a lawgiver not judge and 1 Cor 6:2 refers to judgement of the righteous, not of the wicked who God will judge.
---chris on 5/17/06

chris- There is only one mediator between God and man, the man Jesus christ, but we can share in his mediation. Scriptures tell us that we have only one foundation, jesus Christ(1 cor 3:11), but scriptures tells us that there is more than one foundation( Eph 2:19-20). Scriptures also tell us that we have only lord, Jesus Christ ( Eph 4:45), but again scriptures tell us there is more than one lord, ( Rev 19:16). Same thing about one judge( James 4:12), but look again there is more than one ( 1 Cor 6:2)

Catechism:"Therefore the Blessed Virgin is invoked in the Church under the titles of Advocate, Helper, Benefactress, and Mediatrix."
Advocate: The Bible says Jesus is the only Advocate. 1 John 2:1
Helper: The Bible says Jesus is the only supernatural Helper. Psalm 54:4;Hebrews 13:6
Benefactress: The Bible calls noone a "benefactress."
Mediatrix: The Bible ordains Jesus as the one and only mediator: 1 Timothy 2:5;Hebrews 9:15

Because the Bible also tells us to pray for one another. Therefore I ask many to pray for me as I will pray for others, too. I believe that by praying with and for others, we profess our relationships with one another in the one family of God and that God is pleased when we help each other. And He said when 2 or more are gathered in my name...And in heaven there are definitely more than two gathered. So I will also ask all in heaven to pray for me. That is why I sometimes ask others to pray for me.
---pcc on 5/17/06

The misconception is the word 'to'. When someone asks Mary, alive in Christ, St. Paul or St. John, to pray 'for' them 'to' Christ they are asking that all prayers go TO our Lord. Note the words"TO", "FOR", and "ALIVE". And don't worry about it, because God knows exactly what we mean when we pray. The best thing is not to tell others that their prayers are wrong. Only God knows what is in our hearts. The answers to the questions seem to get off the line of the question. Peace.

Moderator - Why not pray directly to God like the Bible tells us to do?
---pcc on 5/17/06

Believe all that the Word of God tells us of Mary. Believe that Mary was a virtuous woman, chosen to be the mother of Christ and a virgin at His birth. On the other hand, we do not pray to Mary. When the disciples asked Jesus, "Teach us to pray," first thing He said was "when you pray, say Our Father" and went on to teach the Lord's prayer. Also, Jesus once asked another group, "Why do you call me Lord, Lord, and then not do what I say?" He said pray to the Father.
---chris on 5/17/06

Mary certainly cannot hear prayers or anything else for that matter --- she is dead. Catholicism is full of fear which stops a lot of people from checking out the real truth for themselves. Fear is not of God.

Yes, Philomena! Ex 25:God's instructions on the building of the Ark of the Covenant with the purest of materials; The New Covenant, Jesus, was given to us through God's own creations. Certainly,He would place the New Covenant in the best of human beings(born of both the woman and the Spirit)(She replies-yes, read Luke.) Also, see Jn 2:5 -Mary at the first of her Son's miracles (we should follow her advice) "Whatever He says to you, do it."If we love her as Jesus does, then we will understand.
---pcc on 5/16/06

When you love and honor our Blessed Mother, she brings you straight to her Son's heart. We do not claim that Mary has divine power. She is the highest among creatures and to be honored as the woman who said "yes" to God's plan of salvation. "All generations" will call her "blessed", (not worshiped). Does she hear our prayers? You bet she does! We ask for her intercession to Jesus, and she clearly responds in love.

Moderator - She can't according to the Bible.
---Philomena on 5/16/06

Marian devotion grows out of Christology and is properly an extension of it.

Those Christians who "pity" those with Marian devotion are the small minority. It's not just that nasty ole Catholic Church, but it's ALL the Apostolic churches of the east that publicly venerate the Mother of the Messiah.

One Christian writer admitted that those with strong devotion to the Virgin have a better understanding of modesty and humility than the writer does.

ruben, Say catholics are to be pitied, what about pentecostals and chrasmatics? I don't label myself.

Mima-(Really Catholics are to be pitied. ( Praying would be just fine)Because they did not have a choice when they were young as to what they were taught. They have really made no decisions for themselves.( Are you talking for all catholics) I once asked my father why the priests who are so well educated are still Catholics? His answer was they go to Catholic schools!!! Enough said!( Well educated and still catholics, must be going to a catholic schools, thanks for the compliment.)
