Free Christian Music And Books

The desciples were told to take no money with them, nor did they have money to give. What they had was given freely. Why is it that ''christians'' sell the word of God, Music and alike? Why can't their material be available free to download? What would Jesus think of this money making ministry?

Moderator - If you feel that strongly quit your job, sell everything you have and work for free making Christian materials. By the way, who is suppose to pay for your shelter, clothes and food since you work for free?

I get lots of free Christain lititure in the mail. Sometimes books. It wouldn't be too hard to get a free Bible either.

There is nothing wrong with having money it is when the money has us the problems come. When you asked your question were you sitting in an air conditioned room with electric lights? If so why? Was the fridge near with food in it? Do you have more than one coat? Why? I'm ready for your yard sale.

PT2: Point is people need to live & make money. It is sad to gain more while donig the lords work, but some people do this. Though I am no longer with the Jehovah's Witnesses I am glad that they give the bibels freely, you only donate what you want.I wish more churches gave away bibles to people needing them. The apostles still had their side jobs besides the ministring.

I agree that bibles should be given away , or if they charge it, nto to be a lot of money. $20, even $50 for the elaborate bibels I see for sale. As far as music or books etc, this is a living for these people so charges are neccesary. That is why I like the fact of certain ministries give away free sermons on tapes or hymnal music recorded from Sunday service, they only ask for donations, but not necesary

Carla; you will find it in Mt 21:12-13, Jn 2:15-16.

Where are the examples of how much the disciples made from selling the Gospel?
---Carla on 4/19/06

If you followed this line of thought you should also expect bibles and Christian books to be free, until the publishers and printers and authors all went bankrupt and started claiming benefits so they could eat. They are not selling the word of God, they are selling the materials onto which they have put the word of God, tape, vinyl, paper etc. and their time in preparing these items. If we want to eat and are able-bodied we have to earn our living. We should not be freeloaders.

Where I live there are places where you can get clothing for free, just pay a donation of whatever amount to help keep them running. If it wasn't for them helping me and my kids out, I don't know what I would have done for clothes. There are some web sites that you can get music for free. I download alot of them for my church. If everybody worked for free, then no one would know what responsablity was.

christians who sell their music and etc must eat, buy shoes and clothes the same as you do. How about rent, insurance, vehicles (which is a must) and all the other necessities of life. Shira

It takes money to run a Ministry and where would it come from if everything is free?

i wonder what these verses mean?
John4:37 And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth.
John4:38 I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours.
