I Want To Believe In God
I want to believe in God because I want to go to heaven when I die. It's just hard for my brain to accept God. I was brought up a Christain, read my bible, prayed and I feel like I am loosing it. Like there is no God.

A true Story: My mum always said it was far too hard to accept the bible. She couldn't read but eventually she read half way through the bible After recieving Christ last year at 62 she finally accepted God and was baptised. She amazed me last week when she rang me up and told me how sorry she was to let the negative thoughts in her head make her loose out on what she describes as her wonderful Christian life. Unmask satan today and recieve Christ. |

2# It is the wish of the OLD serpant the devil that you loose out on God and ALL of his benifits. For years the dragon will torment your mind and drive you into insanity if you let him, I know when I decided to serve God he tried it with me, and very nearly suceeded with negative thoughts but I held on and I'm still holding on to that solid rock Jesus the song say's HOLD ON Never Let Go so I didn't and won't untill I make it. |

Some may say it's a mental thing and I would agree the mind is a battle field Satan id the foe, but without Christ you may as well give up the fight. It is only through belief that you will conquer the devil, bet your bottom dollar he does not want you to make it in. He messed up and will never be forgiven and his plight is to make you join his beaten out crew. After all he'll never see heaven again, do you think he wants you to. |

I have struggled with my faith for 25 years. I still go to church, and am bringing my kids up in the faith. The way I am starting to look at it is, What are the odds that of all the planets we can see, which are many, Earth is the only one with life? The odds of that are as hard to comprehend as God. |

Steven, we're here to help you grow and to pray for you, welcome. While I know many portray the Father as a magic genie whose purpose is to give us everything that we ask for, that's actually not who He is at all. On the other hand, He does supply all of our "needs" (key word), when we open our hearts to Him for true relationship as opposed to befriending Him only to get what we want. Whether He answers your prayer or not, I pray you seek a relationship with Him, I know you'll never regret it. |

Lee, this formula has worked for untold numbers of people.
Either we got here by chance (evolution) or design (God).
Carefully investigate the claims of evolution & the Bible. A site called creationontheweb dot com will assist. Im confident youll see that evolution of non-life-to life to man lacks proof, with little good evidence.
Read Scripture-cover to cover-big job but worth it-youll see that what we see around us better fits the Biblical model. Read Romans Ch. 1 verse 20. |

Lee, cont. Ask God to illuminate your reading & I'm confident you'll end up with a personal relationship with our Creator & Saviour Jesus- wont happen overnight but it will happen.
This isnt about proving God but about discovering theres no viable alternative to what He has written for us. And about showing theres no intellectual reason why we cannot take His Word as absolute truth. Its by faith we believe, but not blind faith.
This is obviously a very short version |

I feel the same way. I don't know if i can accept him. like.. i Used to try and it never worked out. Right now i am having a BIG problem. Will he help a person even if they are not sure whether to believe in him or not? I really hope so. This might sound bad but if he answers my prayers and helps me with this problem... then i would believe in him honestly. Until then ill still pray to him in hope that he will help me with this problem. |

Another Lee?
Eph. 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing, it is the GIFT of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
To be saved one must believe on the Lord Jesus Christ & receive the gift of salvation from Him. |

I like to think that our universe is like a computer and God is the user. Now to a computer the user is all powerful, it controls everything. There is no way a computer could choose something without the user's control. Yet the user is still imperfect, though through a different perspective is omnipotent and outside of the limits of the computer world. So it is possible to say that in the perspective of a computer, the user is omnipotent and omniscient, yet in the user's reality they are flawed. |

Matt6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness Rm1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. 17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. "Salvation" is not a feeling! Neither is it anything that we do (Eph. 2:8,0, Titus 3:5, Gal. 2:16). One is saved if God has elected him to salvation and Christ has paid for his sins and then applied the word of God to his heart (Romans 10:17, Rev. 19:11). The person becomes a new creation and a son (2 Cor 5:17, Ezek. 36:36:24-29). |

Steve: No,it is not enough to just follow the Golden Rule. You must be born again according to the Word of God. We cannot write our own rules and live by them. We must do things God's way. As I have said in other posts, you too, have lost your focus/ You are looking around at other people and things going on around you. Look up and live. Focus on Jesus. I hope you will listen to what is being said to you, today. Make a decision for Christ. Do it today. Tomorrow is not promised to us. God bless you. |

Sue: There is a life beyond this life. And there is a God. Believe this: We did not make ourselves. We can do nothing with out God. Not even move, talk or anything. Give God the glory and praise for who He is. Regardless of what your mind says, trust God. I would rather put my faith in God than in anything in this world.Everything is passing away and we will have no need of anything one day.We will need only Jesus and His righteousness. You need to receive Him as Savior today.Read I Corinthians ch 2. |

To all who find it hard to believe in God: That is normal for the natural mind to not believe. Our walk with Christ is not natural. It is a supernatural journey that the Holy Spirit helps us to accomplish. Don't worry about all of the details. Just do as we are commanded to do: be born again. Hold on and don't give up(backslide) pray, go to a good bible church. Be baptized. God will put His Spirit inside of you that will enable you to be successful. Read II Corinthians ch 5 |

Believing in God will not get you to heaven. You must be born-again. Jesus said it. And like everything He saids it is true. Any person who has truly been saved knows this fact. Ask someone to pray for your salvation. I will right this minute. +++ |

There is a Promise in the Bible made by God Himself and that is that if WE DRAW CLOSE TO HIM, HE WILL DRAW CLOSE TO US. Faith,is not a feeling and maybe you are looking for a feeling. Mentally, no matter how you feel about God If you begin talking to Him and asking Him into your life He will draw close to you. Seek Him DILIGENTLY through prayer and study. God is reality. Does'nt matter what you think.Reality is reality so you need to Meet Jesus.:) |

Hi, I have battled doubt all my life, mainly due to brain conditions I apparently was born with, and one Scripture that ministers to me is Psalm 73:21-26, especially verses 23 and 26--wow!! Even when our mind is unstable, GOD IS STABLE! :) |

Read Proverbs chap 3, beloved. Also Psalms 139. Isaiah chap 55 can help you. God's ways are not our ways. We need to accept His way, now! While there is time. We cannot depend on our feeble and worthless flesh and mind. No match for God honey. Make a decision for Christ today. After you make your decision, the Holy Spirt will help you live a saved life. You will grow and mature with time. You don't have to know all of the answers to serve Christ. God bless you. I love you. |

I know what you mean. I want to believe in a higher power, but as the years go by, I feel myself losing the ability to believe. Science, the pain and suffering in the world, and the needless slaughter of millions of people over the centuries has stripped me of all faith. Now I simply treat people as I want to be treated... and it works from time to time. I hope it's enough. |

Susan, you are really honest. The immediate realities of life might dominate temporally and God might seem to be out of the equation, but the thoughts of God, fear of punishment do not actually leave us. we need to cautiously look into our ownself and check whether we are comfortable without Jesus. You need to put in effort to retain God. Have a look at Romans 1:28. Please pray. |

Man says, "Show me, then I'll believe", but God says, "Believe, then I'll show you." "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Thomas, because you have seen me, you have believed: blessed they that have not seen, and have believed. And to them that look for him, will he appear the second time without sin, for salvation." Hebrews 11:1; John 20:29; Hebrews 9:28. |

Those who want to believe in God can call on God in prayer to reveal Himself to them. He is perfectly capable of doing so and in fact will do so if you will ask, openly, unashamedly confessing your need for him. |

I have the same problem. I guess you could call me a wannabe Christian. I WANT it all to be true (i.e. the Bible, God, Christ, etc.) but I keep wondering, if it's really this simple then why doesn't everyone believe it?? When I read the Bible it all seems so mythical, even silly. I find myself wondering why anyone would believe it? Help!! |

Did you ever read the works of the late Dr. Conrad Baars and the late Dr. Anna Terruwe, Christian psychiatrists? "Feeling and Healing Your Emotions" is a great book and I think it may give you an idea why you need "heart knowledge," not just "intellectual knowledge," to know and love God. |

Sue; our flesh is an enemy against God. Our brain can't comprehend the things of God. For we must look at things through spiritual eyes. It is normal for someone to question if God exists. I did. But I realized that if there wasn't I wouldn't be here, for many reasons. It takes faith to believe in and upon God, without faith it is impossible to please God. Just believing in God won't take you to heaven. It takes more than that. |
|

Faith. You get in your car and faith it will start. You go to the store and have faith your money will buy you something. You must have faith that God is real, (look around) that Jesus suffered, died and rose again the third day.
The devil believes in God, You must believe in the Son of God. Believing in God will not save you, only putting your faith in His Son will.
No man comes to the Father except the Spirit draw him. |

Thank you for all your responses. I will try what you all stated. I just sometimes feel that when we die, we die. We will all just be dust in the ground and people believe in God so they wont go insane thinking about this. The more I try to regain my faith, or the older I get, it seems, the more I am loosing it. |

An exercise that you might find helpful is to keep a journal of your prayer request and questions. Sometimes we get too intellectual about God and don't see him as interacting with us personally. It may not happen immediately but at intervals of say 3,6,9 months etc...look back at those prayer request and questions you asked God to help you with as you note them being answered you will see that God is working in your life maybe not as fast as you want but working, then praise him for it. |
|
---Linda3 on 4/19/06 |
Susan, I highly recommend you to read the first three chapters of Ephesians over and over, and over until the Holy Spirit gives you wisdom and revelation knowledge. But you must be dilegent. And watch, before your eyes, things will start to happen. It will be like a light coming on when you flip the switch. These prayers of Paul were not just for the Ephesians in their day, but for us as well. |

It all boils down to the heart. We have to believe with our heart, not because we want the rewards. Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Like the way a child can believe in Santa with no doubts at all. Matt. 10:15 Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein. |

Who can say that they trully believe in God when so many doubt his very word and pick out whats good enough for them. Don't Beat yourself up about it for too long. Learning to love, trust, and accept, God totally takes a process that the majority of Christians go through apart fron the Elected few. Hope this helps. David asked God to hide his word in his heart so that he don't sin against him Love X |
