Can Kids Be Demon Possessed
Can an eight year old be possessed with demons? I have reference to a kid who goes into a spell, kicks, throws items, gets on the floor and acts and eats like a dog. Then he will act as if nothing happened.
Moderator - A person at any age can be possessed with demons or just have a severe mental illness.

Yes i believe that children can be demon posessed, it could be the child has anger issues or some problems with coping and this is how he vents his anger. However in saying that anything like this is not from God and if it is not from him then it is from the author of all sin (satan). I would suggest that the parents seek the Lord and get their lives right with him and pray earnestly for the Lord to help this child to overcome what ever is causing him to act this way. I dont believe there is such things as mental illness as I believe it all comes from satan himself. It will take lots of prayer as the only person that can help him if he is suffering from demon posession is the Lord Jesus. |

Well, it sure isn't God. All unbelievers Satan has domineon over which depending on your weaknesses he can use. It can be your mind or your power,[job] or certain habits that you have. It all depends on your weaknesses. One exception would be ofcourse, if you are born with an affliction which can be caused by a lot of things. But this is seldom the case. |

I used to see & communicate with my guardian angel, or so I thought, when I was very young, with memories of it as young as 3,4, & 5. Later in my childhood, however, I had a "spirit - friend", or so I thought, who was very sad & told me he had taken his own life, but he had to pause communications with me & hide sometimes when this other "mean spirit" would come looking for him. Why would God allow a child to be deceived? |

When I was a kid if I acted like that I'd get a good licken and that would be the end of that kind of behavior. A good correction can lead to immediate repentance which is by far the best remedy for demon possession. |

I agree with the moderator. There is Biblical scripture to back up demon possesion in children. |

I'd just be very careful about letting an 8 yr. old hear that he has demons. An 8 yr. old can act silly most any time, it's all part of being a KID. My son meowed for a month one time just because he thought it was funny I guess, he was 5 yrs. old. |

Hi, I know this won't be a popular opinion, and it is just that--my opinion--but sometimes I think kids need a lot more love and attention--some of it on the behind when they act up! |

Is there a medicine out there that puts a halt to compulsive lying?
If not, I think a deliverance should be considered. |

In our high-tech and higher educational society the line between demon possession and mental illness has become muddy. Who knows why some are chemically different in the brain than others? Demons? I believe that any age or species can be demon possessed. The question is do you exorcise the demon or medicate the victim?:) |

What is the appropriate response for the blogger with severe mental illness and/or demon possessed? |
|
---Mike on 1/13/08 |
Yes! If in normal times the child would like to behave differently, perhaps you should find a person whose ministry is deliverance. If the child is unwilling to want change and I would suggest open prayer, spoken audibly in the child presents. These prayers should speak of the Lord Jesus Christ, His shed and redeeming blood. I would have the child repeat these prayers with me if at all possible. Don't despair, don't give up hope I sense that you will be victorious. |

Yes it is possible for a child to have demons, but it is also possible that this child just has ADHD and need medicine for it. I would take the child to be tested by a Dr before I'd do an excerisim. |

In certain parts of Africa and Britain there are people that believe in this type of hype and many in cases the children are murdered in rituals of where professed ''Christians'' or Obeia/wictch craft workers that are probably possesed themselves, subject hundreds of innocent children to cruel and growsome ordeals and many death especally if they cannot care for the children anymore it is used as an excuse. |

I was born beleiving in GOD.Always prayed to my angels.I was born an "indigo"/"sensitive".But,I instinctively knew I had demons around me.I lived w.this hell for 30yrs.Then, I was exorcised in the most excruciatingly painful experience>words can not describe. The LIGHTS can back on in my world. After the exorcism, I saw a church across the street from my home for the VERY 1st time. My world changed.I Studied psych.@ Columbia U.I see now science is only a reflection of the spiritual. |

Mike: You are so right, but also so wrong.
God is NEVER capricious, nor mean. Demonic posession is NEVER a sentence to hell.
One sentences himself to hell by failing to ask Jesus to be his savior. Using David's words, we know that children are protected by God until a certain, unknown age (Age of Accountability)
Like John or Samson, children can be concecrated from the womb, so also can one be demon posessed in there. I can't explain it further, but I know that is the way it is. |

MikeM, John the Baptist was filled with the Holy Spirit in the womb. So why wouldn't a demon enter through the womb? I was born with a spirit of rejection. I got set free from it when I was 25 years old,but until then, I lived with it for all of those years. If a wife committs adultery on her husband while she is pregnant, that opens a door for a demon to enter her. I know someone this happened to and her son is now gay. |

MikeM, there was a demon-possessed boy which the disciples could not cast out, but Jesus cast the demon out of the boy in Matthew 17:14-21. |

Any theology that pre-condemns children/babies possessed or destined to hell renders God as capricious and mean, showing God as more evil than a 1000 Hitlers. (crib demons?-please!) I cannot believe I am reading posts from people who believe this, its undefendable as it is disgusting. This is clearly the 1# reason NOT to be an evangical. Thank you for the clarity. |

yes, an eight year old can have demons. |

I also can say that from abuse (sexual) that I remember having a odd feeling in myself that I would now say felt like a seizure. As a child it felt like it was "light speed, skip-frame" movements. Thankfuly I had/have a loving family as the abuse wasn't occuring from my close family members. They have said only that I would "act weird". Bless them. |

It's not for nothing that exorcisms are part of the classical pre-reformation Baptismal rites.
However, when in a demonized state, the patient's will is suspended, hence he is NOT morally responsible for acts committed during that time, and almost always has no memory of them.
But have you had your child examined by a doctor? I'd rule out physiological and psychological causes first. |

#2.Yes, children can have demons just like adults. Anybody who is experienced in this ministry will testify to this. There are many cases. Mark 9:17,21. The word child here in NT Greek is paidiothen and means 'from infancy', meaning the child may have very well been born with the spirit or got in from childhood. Not all cases are from demons. However they are many cases, and its NOT A JOKE!. Some 8 years old, 11 year old, etc. |

If you say a child can be possessed, then you are saying that he/she can sin. Then that child/baby will be subject to heaven or hellfire, think before you say such things like children can be possessed, will you take responsibility for the consequences of your theology, like clildren/babies going to hell? |
|
---MikeM on 5/8/06 |
A person can possessed with demons at any age. However the child can have mentally or behavior problems. Or just sometimes they just want attension. Sometimes demons are the case. And one must ask the Lord for direction.I believe the book called Pigs in the Parlor by Frank Hammond, Ida Mae Hammond is a good book. For those who are interested in, planning to engage in, or actively engaged in the ministry of deliverance. Also talks about how kids can get demon possessed. |

Rita:
Radical Attachment Disorder (DSMiv) can have manifestations like that, as can Ritual Sexual Abuse.
In the case of the latter, I observed a bona-fide multiple in one church I pastored.
As an emotional abuse survivor, I can attest to rage's strength remaining underneath until dealt with in a spiritual nature.
Therefore, it is not a case of either psychology or Scripture, but both.
Have you read Kurt Koch's Modern Demon Posession? Very helpful. |

I 'm a semi-retired psychotherapist, but more importantly, I do not believe in psychology anymore... my grand daughter had exactly those symptoms from 3 -6, was put on medicines which did not work, was diagnosed with a seizure disorder which she did not have!!! I prayed the exorcism prayer, used holy water, holy salt, and helped my daughter through it. Lately I see more kids acting like that. I have a hunch that there is a demon spirit involved. |

Please be careful on approaching a child whom you believe to be demon possessed. You could scar the child mentally and emotionally and misrepresent religion completely if the child is merely seeking attention. |
