Why Didn't God Stop This

I have a friend whose little daughter three years old was raped over and over again by a relative. Why didn't God intervene to keep this baby from being abused?

A human being committed the crime, not satan. If only humanity realized that satan can only TEMPT, people would be able to realize that they do not have to commit the offense (free will conscience), but humanity is confused by the god of confusion and blame either God or satan.

Yes, as long as Satan is alive on this earth, evil will be here too. For God's people He will give you strength to endure. One hour in heaven will make up for all the rotten stuff we must put up with down here. God is good but Satan is also alive and well. And Satan is the evil one. Ofcourse, Thank God that Satan is limited he cannot do anything unless God allows him too. And then it's always for a reason, which we may never, ever understand.

Because the wicked are not cast into the fire yet, instead they are currently growing side-by-side with us the righteous, therefore the kingdom of heaven suffers violence. But very soon the damned will be separated from the born-again.

God may have been intervening through someone in that family but people sometimes tend to ignore his promptings.

I went through some abusive situations as a child myself and also when I was married. Then 5 yrs ago on Mothers Day my son was murdered! I use to ask the same thing but no longer do. Romans 8:28 seals it for me. God has changed me,molded me and used thsee situations and brought good out of them. He has also used me as a testimony to His glory. The devil didn't win! God did!!

Are you saying that saved won,t committ crimes??christ said in parable of the sower that some would accept the word but would fall away. You can be saved then do terrible things, terrible.the people in one of the churches that paul founded were into all kinds of sin, and abomadations.
---tom2 on 6/6/06

Tom2 - I was speaking of the now born-again Christian not doing the horrible things they once did. For example a person raping a young child gets saved they will then have the new nature of Christ and will no longer wish to do horrible things like that. Not talking about un-saved -- they will continue in their ungodly ways till they accept Christ.

helen, whether your born again or not no one is immune to anything that might happen. the favor of God is within you and how you react.Take Job as a case.God allowed him to loose all and all of his children , his entire family to be killed to prove to satan that Job would not curse him.bad things do happen to born again christians.they don,t stop once you accept jesus.
---tom2 on 5/30/06

Just had a thought -- you ask why God didn't stop it.... maybe there was no-one who knew it was happening that knew Jesus so that they could ask Him to stop it.
---Helen_5378 on 5/30/06

God is sovereign and can do anything because He is God. However when Adam sinned the whole human race then inherited the sin nature, that is why these things happen, plus the fact that God has given man a free will. It is only when one turns to Christ and becomes a new creation that things change and these horrible things no longer happen.

friend, God don't need your permission for a thing. You are given free will to accept or reject. And when God wishes he will, does and has interceeded in mens lives.Paul was a persecutor of christians until the lord knock him down and blinded him, do you believe paul gave his permission to jesus, or God?? friend my God don,t need permission for anything, he does wait to see your choice then he will judge.
---tom2 on 5/30/06

God needs are permission?? The God I know is sovereign. The only area in all the universe whether natural or spritual that God has no control over is acceptance or rejection of the truth. your one and only choice of whether to accept his son or reject rains on the just and the unjust. And mod is CORRECT SIN IS THE PROBLEM IN THE WORLD it started when eve and adam chose not to obey and it goes on and on
---tom2 on 5/30/06

Man has authority and dominion over this earth. God can only intervene in situations when He is given the permission by man. (See why God needs intercessors to "stand in the gap?") Many bad things happen becasue man is evil. even now if you give GOd that permission by surrendering completely your life, your daughter's and the situation, He can heal her, emotionally and otherwise, and turn tings around for good.

Debbie: Wow! That's all I can say.

I do agree that God gives us something special when we learn His lessons from bad things. I am now a therapist working with the mentally ill, many of whom have been abused. My ability to relate to these people is so deep because of the fact that I understand what it is like to have been abused and traumatized. People who have not been there just can't relate.

God doesn't bring bad things our way, but He does allow them. God, in His infinite wisdom knows why. I know that we are to be overcomers to the fullest degree. For that to happen, we must have something to overcome. In 1987, my ex-husband shot me with both barrels of a 12 gauge shotgun. I should have died as I lost arteries in both legs. Because of that, I have learned numerous spiritual lessons. I have learned how to forgive. I can look back and say it is one of the best things that ever happened to me.
---Debbie on 5/11/06

Why didn't God intervene and prevent the abuse I received? I don't know that answer to that, but I do know that God is at work in my life. Romans 8:28 "ALL things work together for GOOD....." God can and will use this event in this child's life for His glory, if the child allows it when she comes to salvation and grows in Him.

Pray for her to heal and grow in the Lord. God can use her mightily for Him.

Read John 9:1-7 - The disciples ask Jesus who sinned and caused the man to be born blind. Jesus tells them that no one did, he is that way so that he could be used for others to see Gods works through him. Then Jesus heals him (doing the works of God).
Romans 8:28 And we know that ALL things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Was this relative someone who had to live in the same household, brother, sister or something similar. the reason I ask is because when we walk with the world there are so many distractions that we don't pay attention to Gods' warnings. We allow careers, school, hobbies, etc. to determine who watches our kids. It's better to rely on Jesus than to make decisions that ultimately create a roadblock. More people are more faithful to Corporate America than our Saviour.
Let's pray for this little girl.
---gerardo on 5/10/06

You might as well ask, "Why didn't God stop the rapist's parents from meeting, getting married, and having him" and work backwards to, "Why didn't God stop Adam and Eve"?
---Jack on 5/10/06

Also, Eloy is right in that we still live in a fallen world and there are people still under the sway of the evil one. The good news is that Jesus has done enough that this little girl can have life and that more abundantly in Him.

I agree with Eliza and Eloy on this one. Father's interventions many times come in the form of promptings from the Holy Spirit that I call "red flags" or the absence of peace in the spirit. "Let the peace of God rule in your hearts and be thankful." I have also heard a warning out of the mouth of someone who isn't even born again as God can use a donkey if He wants to. It is our own pride that prevents us from listening.
