Ralph Woodrow wrote a book called MYSTERY BABYLON REVEALED in which he claimed this was the Roman Catholic Church. It was a condensation of Alexander Hislop's (his slop) work.
Woodrow eventually withdrew his own book from publication when he discovered how many historical errors he had made in it and how wrong he was.
Moderator - I have read all three books. Yes, there are mistakes in all three books, however the basic premise is correct. |

By applying the "logic" used in this blog to symbolic language, the red dragon would be China instead of Satan. Like Babylon, both are spiritual rather than material entities in whom are EVERY demon of the earth (Rv.18:2). Why jump on views that make half sense, but ignore other facts, (like her global economics cited in ch.18?) The root of the word "harlot" in Greek denotes "commerce". Those who focus on mere "materialistic" interpretions may be in her grasp. |

Mystery babylon, denominational religion & the divisions & controversy created thereby thru the silence imposed by their heads in order to advocate their individual doctrines & traditions. Revelation 16:6; 17:1-6; 18:20, 24 states that Babylon was drunk with the blood of the prophets. The term almost always refers to Old Testament prophets. In Matthew 23:35 Jesus said Jerusalem was guilty of "all the bloodshed on the earth," In Revelation 18:24 states that Babylon bears the guilt for "all the bloodshed on the earth." Rev. 11:8 refers to the Great City (Babylon), as the place "where the Lord was crucified". This can refer to only one city. Jerusalem! |

As with everything, there is the natural, & the spiritual. "There is a natural man, there is a spiritual man", truth's etc [I Cor.15:35-58].
Hence, the same with Confusion or Babylon. Religions of the world united together under one generic god, with different names, origins, doctrines, heads, etc, this is spiritual Confusion/Babylon! Rev 18:2,4"Babylon the great is fallen.." "And I heard another voice from heaven saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues" The call is to come out of Babylon, out of religious confusion. Babylon composes the Roman Catholic Church and her harlot daughters, those Protestant Churches that are no longer protesting and saying that it is wrong to say anything negative about the whore of Rev 17. |

It appears not a few people will get the answer to Rev.17/18 & 'the church question' sooner than most people think. It get's clearer everyday, especially with Gog/MaGog & Persia becoming more & more prominent on the world stage along with terrorism & it's roots.
All churches did not originate from 'The Universal Church'. I'll stay with believers in/of Acts Chapts. 1 & 2, 11:19-26 as it's origins.

Babylon was Pagan Rome. Peter signed off from Rome in his epistle by saying it was "Babylon" (he was never in Babylon). The Whore is a more interesting question - a former Presbyterian Minister (and Biblical Scholar) identified the Whore of Bablyon as Jerusalem (which was also a great city) and which worked with the Romans to engineer the Crucifixion of Jesus. |

Rev 12:1-2 describe a woman about to give birth to a child (Christ)& verse 3 states "And there appeared another wonder in heaven: and behold a great red dragon, having 7 heads & 10 horns.." Verse 4 states "and the dragon stood ready before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born" What power does the 7 heads & 10 horns represent? In Ephesians Paul said great is this mystery I speak concerning Christ and the church. I believe that "mystery" will be a carnal church so conformed to the world that they will have made themselves an image like the beast. They'l live for this world and speak of this world and have the "mark" in their hand "works" and forhead "thoughts" and hate all who tell the truth. Without the mark you can't buy or sell and the truth is bought and sold in many churches today. |

A women in bible prophecy represents a church. The women of Revelation 12=Gods church but the prostitute of Revelation 17=the false church. It can be no other.

This is a question, is it jerusalem? after reading Matt.23:35 Jesus talking to the scribes and pharisees he said, that on you may come all the righteous blood shed on the earth, I looked it up and jerusalem sits on seven hills too. Jesus also said in scripture, another will come and you will accept him. |

There are several cities that sit on seven hills, including Nashville (seat of the Southern Baptist Sunday School Board) and San Francisco. Mystery Babylon is American pop-evangelicalism.

Some are teaching it is the United States.
